    Coax VS Cat5

Hello, I am sure this question has been asked many times, dont yell at me! I did search for it and couldnt find anything. I was wondering what is better coax or cat5? I am sure it all depends on the job but can you guys give me some pros/cons about the two that a beginner in this field would not know? Also any other info about them would be great! I mostly do small residential work and some business office work and usually no more than 4-16 cams yet. Thanks alot!

    Best routers

Hello, can someone please give me some good pointers on buying routers for remote viewing. some of my clients did not have routers so i had to go out and buy one for them. i wanted to know for next time what is the best brand for inexpensive routers that will get the job done, and if so which ones will work best for cctv remote viewing. i know they all basically do the same thing but theres gotta be a recommended type/brand for cctv. thanks alot

  6. Hello, I just installed a system at a friends condo and his estate did not allow us to mount anything outside the condo and he wanted his car on camera so what we did was mount a camera inside his house facing outside in front of a window. I thought the problem would be the IR at night, but that works fine. The problem is the reflection from the lights and tv inside the house. Does anybody know a way to prevent the reflection on the window? I looked up on google and they have film to put on the window to prevent glares, but I figured i would ask on here first to see if anybody has ran into a issue like this before. Thank you!

  8. Hello, I am sort of new to this industry and I wanted to know if everyone can tell me what they think is the best website or book available that will explain EVERYTHING about cctv including everything thats part of it. Also for running a cctv security business. i personally think forums are the best for figuring out problems and stuff but i know there has to be good books/sites that explain this whole thing and how to make a business out of it. thanks alot

  10. i saw a video online of somebody showing how to set up a balun and in their video they showed a quick shot of 4 baluns hooked up into one wire (one balun per pair of wire obv) .. It made me wonder why someone would do that? wouldnt the cameras be further apart? what are some uses for people running more than one camera in a cat5 if theyre all in different spots? is this how most installers do their work?

    Window Reflection

i assume your technique is for cameras that are for indoor recording. i am talking about having a camera indoors facing outside of a window to look outside at their cars. the light i am talking about that is reflecting is light from inside the house glaring off the window into the camera thats mounted right in front of it inside

    Window Reflection

so do you think his estates would not let him put the camera outside because we would be drilling into the actual place, or do you think it is because they dont allow recording of your own for privacy of other tenants.. i am going to look into that with them... also i never thought of just mounting the camera to the windows using like a suction cup or something.. but i do not understand step 3. what do you mean by put a cover over the camera to press it on the glass? can you please explain this with more detail as this will be very helpful in the future. thanks so much!

    Dome camera IR reflecting

thanks a lot. you are right, it is a cheap camera lol. i guess you really can tell the difference between the cheap ones just by looking at it. and you are right, that piece is off.. thanks a lot also what if it was a more expensive one, then how would that work? is the actual dome just 1 piece of 2 piece like that one is
