blowrabbit You statement referring to only using "TESTED COMPANY'S" is in my oppinion a little offbase. As we know in the security world, you can find the so called test company's products directly at www.globalsources.com and since most of the big boys basically re-package (OEM) each other's products, everyone is basically on the same playing field. I have used just about every product line available from Kaletel to DM's to GEO, again it comes down to your CONFIDENCE in the equipment you chose to elect to promote to your clients that generates refferals and repeat business. I have personally purchased in FY 2005 a little over $1 MILLION in security products from Mace directly, yet everyone knocks the product line, yet I chose to use it. Yet, my sister company uses everything but Mace. My GM of the sister company likes ICR, Nuvico and no name DVR's from Intellicam.

The power of the internet allows you to shop for best price, no matter what the product line you are looking for. In you quest for low cost, fixed cameras, with the FOV of 12-20 ft, would either recommend a varifocal armor dome camera with a 4 - 12 mm lens or go with a CCD camera, housing, bracket. I use a good varifocal day night bullet camera, with audio, for around $250 that will easily achieve your requirements.

I'm tryinig to remain neutral on this forum, having wrote that, I can't give a 100% honest answer until I see the machine running for 6 months solid. Image quality is good, and some of the functions I like. For example the multiview of several DVR's on one free included program is a nice feature for a embedded system. Most of the PC systems have this functionality and very few embedded systems do, so I like that feature with ICR. Have to empahsize that it's my sister company who purchased the 5 systems from ICR and they have since purchase more from ICR, as well other MFG DVR's. So, I would say thus far they are happy with ICR.

But having two unique and separate company's that sell and install both GEO systems and Mace systems, I can write with 100% accuracy that for a company of 14 employees we are the largest distributor of Mace products in the USA and our sister company moves a lot of self-made GEO systems and various manufactuer embedded DVR's and recently installed five (5) 16 channel IC Realtime DVR's. The point? Simple, it shouldn't matter the name brand of the product line you represent, it's your confidence in the gear you promote that will WIN you your customers TRUST and their business. Unless you dealing with Fortune 500 Security Departments, 99.99 % of your clients will have no idea who Pelco, Sensormatic, Bosch, Sanyo, Mace, IC Real Time, etc are. They are relying on your expert advice to recommend the right product(s) to them based upon individual requirements and their budget requirements.

As follow-up to my earlier post, FWV = http://www.firstwitnessvideo.com/ they are known for the TX's. From 10 mw to 2 watt TX's with adjustible gain on the RX . No matter what brand of TX/RX you use, the key is a strong TX and a RX that gets the signal to line lock. Low end TX/RX will cause your problem 100% of the time on the GEO.

Recommend the ChannelVission 4 channl Modulator, you will also need 4 diplexors, and 4 low pass filters if you want 4 camera images on 4 different channels. You can, depending on your DVR send from video out (quad) to a single channel modulator with diplexlor and low pass filter to save costs.

The motion artifacts being referred to are if you look anywhere in the video,live or playback where you have vertical or horizontal lines, you will see the artifacts as very light blue/orange hues . This is mainly typical of all embedded DVR's as they do not have there own graphics card driving the video feeds!

Jasper, if you haven't used the CAM 77 whether Mace brand or the VisionRX (same camera) from American Sentry Guard, I suggest you try before you knock either one, because it produces one heck of clear image without the aide of an external IR. CAM 77 is a true day night dome. FYI, Mace is a little behind on posting the correct specs for the CAM 77 line, check out the specs as listed at http://www.sentryguard.net/dealer/rx.asp

For the money, I have used the new CAM 77 Varifocal Armor Dome from from Mace, and though not IR, but has a true DAY/NIGHT image at 540 TV Lines, DNR and dual voltage for the long runs. It's the same camera American Sentry Guard calls the VisionCam RX at a much more competitive price.

For $150 price tag, you won't get the IR capability, but the CAM 95 (new cam line) from Mace, will get you a high resolution , 525 line varifocal armor dome with .5 lux I've used this camera on numerous jobs lately and the clients love the imagine quality.

Bottom Line Up Front: With intermittent RF signal loss comming from then the RX connected to the DVR is the problem. GEO and other PC cards assume there is a SIGNAL LOSS, which emulates a PORT (CHANNEL ) conflict, cause the system to malfunction as you describe. I've been able to fix the problem using a high output 2.4 GHz TX and RX system from FWV with a supplied singal amplifier in between the RX and the DVR.

What is the IR spectrum of the NV cam your using? Specifically what is the nanometer rating on that camera? I've seen the green HUE effect you describe on low end IR cams. Before you sent the cams back the MFG did you test them yourself on a regular monitor? Cause I take a camera you describe on a DVR and put directly to a regular monitor and the problem is gone. Why? Simple, when you take a analog signal and put to a DVR whether PC or embeded, you save a SATURATION effect and low end cameras are typlical of this with a crappy SN Ratio. Additionally, go with the new line of IR cams that have the LENS separator that sets outside the IR's themself.

We have done small Casinos, speficially POKER ROOMS at 6 Florida Dog Tracks now all with the Mace 1600 RT DVR and term you asked was cost efficent and reliable. The client wanted embedded DVR's, no PC based systems and has been very sastified with them so far and we are under contract to do 6 more locations with the Mace DVR's. As a side note, I did have the opportunity to view in person the IC REALTIME DVR's and until the upcomming ISC WEST show, will be the one of the best D1 DVR's I've seen so far, for both display in real time and playback.
