The SENDER needs to be an email address, not just the name. Use same as the reciever address. -

What camera? Some cameras support SSL and you can use Gmail, Yahoo, etc... Many others don't support SSL and you will need a third party email address like GMX.com. smtp.gmail.com port 465 with SSL smtp.gmx.com port 587 -
Q-See QCN7100B 1.3m settings question
Machineman posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Q-See QCN7100B (Dahua HFW2100) 1.3m bullet cam In Network / SMTP theres a setting called "interval" configurable from 180 to 3600sec. What does this do? Its defaulted at 180sec. In Camera / Video / Snapshot theres another setting called "interval" configurable from 1 to 7sec. What does this do? Its defaulted at 1sec. Thanks. -
Q-See QCN7100B 1.3m settings question
Machineman replied to Machineman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
UPDATE: A few emails to Q-See support were useless. Its obvious they don't know much about theses cameras. They could not answer my questions and said they would forward it to engineering and told me I could try Costco support since Im a member there and got the cameras there. That was a couple weeks ago. Called costco and the guy I talked to was super nice and understood everthing I said. He couldn't find the answers either but noted everything on a report about the product. He said the report goes to the Costco buyers and Q-See about any issues. So in conclusion, these poorly described settings that seem to do nothing, will probbaly remain that way. -
What happens if you put Q-See firmware on a Dahua branded camera of the same model or do the opposite Dahua on Q-See? Will it work fine just different header text on the pages?

Q-See QCN7100B 1.3m settings question
Machineman replied to Machineman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
That Manual is written for primarily NVR use. Doesn't have much detail for stand alone cameras. The SMTP interval lowest possible setting is 180sec and I can get emails within 1min from each other. So im confused as to what it does. The interval in the snapshot is configurable from 1 to 7sec. -

Tried that already with Q-see support a few weeks ago and still waiting. And the PDF manual does not detail these settings. -
Dahua IPC-HDB3200C ftp path, snapshot url, X - axis?
Machineman replied to oh6hfx's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
This method does not work for my 2100 model camera using the static port HTTP 9700 I gave it. But the 9988 port does work. -

I was affraid of that.. The firmware on the Q-SEE support site is older than the Firmware my camera came with. -

This works on my Q-See 2100c bullet from the local LAN. Any idea how to get this to work remotely when there's more than one camera behind the same IP (DDNS)? Is that 9988 port configurable? Thanks. -
I got a pair of these QCN7001B IP cams from costco without the NVR. Will wait to get the 8 or 16ch NVR. Good: Daytime images are clear Email SSL works, gmail etc. IR night vison is decent Q-See Iphone app works for remote viewing Dual stream is nice for remote access at lower bandwidth. Can send email images and record locally for the same event. Solid chassis and mount pedastal Can easily change the lense (per other thread) Can back-up the settings config. (With the exception of the netwrok details) Can block out area's for motion detection. What I don't like(some maybe specific to my needs): IR lights are very visable, can't turn them off. Motion sensativity of 1(lowest) still triggers lots of events. This is just looking at a motionless backyard. The UI setting names are poor. You need to play with them to see what they do. The RJ45 connector is not weather proof. There is no Guest Live view, always need to log-in. No live view still(snapshot) option. Meaning when you log-in its streaming. No motion detection sensativty screen. Need to physically go to the camera and cause motion to test. Time and name overlays are poor looking The Manual could use some more detail for the settings. Also the cam Manual is written for NVR use. I think these cams are good for the price but have more potential with some firmware improvements.

Q-See 1.3M IP cam comments

Nice data in that first link! Shows that Photography film is a very good option. Any idea if the photo film in those tests was unused and developed? -
Q-See 1.3M IP cam comments
Machineman replied to Machineman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yes, all correct. I want to mask the visable red glow but still pass the invisible IR. The floppy disk media is kind of like the photo film where it has a dark red tint. It seems to be working at the cost of some distance. If I can find some film laying around I might try that also. For now I will install the cam with the floppy disk media. -

That illuminator uses wavelength 940nm LED's which are near invisable. Last year I ordereed some 940nm LED's from digikey and replaced the visible light LED's in some garden solar lights. The lights were invisible and the cam could see them at night but didn't really light up more than 1 foot around the light. I bet that illuminator works good. The Q-See cam likely uses LED's at 850nm or less. I'm playing around with filtering the Q-See LED's. First option is using an old floppy disk film. I cut it out and put in front of the LED's. Left a hole for the night sensor. you can't see the Red glow anymore unless you get really close and even then its very dim. It also passes enough IR so the cam can still see at night. However the distance is reduced. Need to do some more testing. -

Yep, I have a few game cams on the cabin site around the woods. Good night/day pics of bears, mountain lions, etc.. Just wish they would make a game cam with IP, POE, and email events. Need to pull the SD card to see what got caught. I really don't need the video, just images of whats happening. All the IP cams I have(axis, panasonic) I use just for the email of motion images. -

I can't find a "Day" mode setting. The pull down is titled "Day & Night" and the options are; Auto, Color, Black & White, and by period. None of those shut the IR led's off. Seems like its only controlled by the light sensor. The red glow at night will be an issue for a couple spots I want to put these cameras. Its in a rural area at the end of a long driveway so I want them to be hiiden rather then used as target practice. These IR LED's must be in the lower end of the IR spectrum. Above 900nm and they start to be invisible. I have a Game camera that has an invisible IR flash, the LED's are covered by some tinted film. Wonder what material that is and if I can put it over the Q-SEE led's. Probably with some loss in intensity. I have a bunch of IP cams (Axis P33's, Panasonics, etc..) and its been a pain to manage all the different settings and cam specific issues. If I get an NVR can it handle all of the motion detection settings, port forwarding, email notifications of all the cams from it own interface? In other words will my IP cams only supply video and not do any other functions? I'm not familiar with NVR's. Thanks..

Dahua cameras now at Costco
Machineman replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'm considering this Costco deal (NVR+ 4 cams) to add to my existing IP cams but have a few questions that I could not answer by browsing the owners manual. 1. Has anyone verified that the SMTP email SSL actually works for gmail? 2. Are the IR light very visible at night? 3. Has anyone verified that an email notification can contain a jpeg snapshot of the event? 4. Can a motion event be set up to reocrd to the NVR and send a email jpeg for the same event? 5. Can a motion event recorded video have a pre-trigger buffer time? 6. If I remotely log into the NVR(multi view) or a single camera is there a Live view setting so that the cams are not streaming(my internet bandwidth is low). Meaing they record to the NVR at Hi-res but for Live view its a still image. Thanks. -
NVR use question
Machineman replied to Machineman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'm considering that Costco Q-See 4 or 8? channel NVR that comes with the 4 720P cameras. Replace my other cams with the Q-See 720P. Then connect my axis cams using the network. cams. The Axis P33 cams are very nice but there are somethings which really annoy me that maybe NVR control could improve. Such as: --No SSL email support, need 3rd party email server. --Motion detection is near impossible get reasonably set. Either to many false triggers or no trigger at all. -
I have a new Vivotek FD8134v camera and wanted to ask about some things that are either issues or the camera just doesn't have the option. 1. Can the homepage be configured in still mode? I need this to reduce Mobil WAN bandwidth. 2. Is there a way to input the Subject text for triggered emails? 3. Email config has the SSL option but its not working with gmail. 4. Whats the trick in getting SD card recordings longer then a couple seconds. Time setting don't seem to matter. Im using Stream1; JPEG, quality excellent, 20fps. 5. Even though I get above the Motion detection threshold (red bars) the trigger does not recorded all but 10% of the time, Why? Buggy software? Data trasnsfer to SD issue? I emailed Vivotek tech support a few days ago but no response.

Port Forwarding on Vivotek FD8134V

This is odd becuase the Router does port forwarding fine on my Axis and Panasonic cams. I have outside remote access with those. -
Port Forwarding on Vivotek FD8134V
Machineman posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi, Just got a Vivotek FD8134V cam and can't seem to get the port forwarding to work. I keep getting the Error: Router does not support UPnP port forwarding. In the Vivotek network settings I'm using a fixed IP and assiagned a HTTP port number. What's the Vivotek secondary HTTP port entry for and can I leave it at 8080? I set up my 2wire router to open the assigned HTTP port for the IP address just like I did for my Axis and Panasonic cams which work fine. Is there somethig else I forgot to enable on Vivotek's settings? Thanks..
