i used to have an AVTECH 760 a few years back and that always worked well through eagle eyes, i now have AV787D dvr and everything is set correct, i have iphone 4S just this week beofre that i had iphone 3G and on both phones i have same problem, i cna access dvr no problem in locla network but on 3g it might or might not ( never any real patern to problem but mostly doesnt work, it will get pasy login fine and switch to dark screen where u can just faintly see the channel change button at the top under the blue border but then it will just show the busy symbol forever, sometimes if i then exit out and restart the app it will link quickly but more often than not its that same dark screen almost like its waitng to stream the video pictures??, no errors are given at all and it really is anoying as i know config is all good because nothing has changed from when it worked fine, also i use eagle eyes paid version as i wanted the PTZ funtion but this wont come up and work at all not even in local network ??? this is really annoying as i paid specifiaclly for this function , if i just wanted camera views i could stayed with the free version, any help guys would be appreciated

ok heres the story I used to have an AV760 DVR conected to a (sony exview365 PTZ cam) simple conection using rg59 and seperate power run, there was also 3 static cams and a simple joystick controlloer for the PTZ everything worked perfect for around 6 month then one day when controlling the PTZ there was suddenly video loss and i had to uplug power from cam and plug back in to get working again, over the next several weeks this same problem occured and seamed to get more and more frequent so it was time to troubleshoot checked all conections and even replaced all plugs , connectors etc, problem remained removed PTZ from site and made new short cable run (around 4 ft) to try it at the DVR/Joystick side and same problem took out joystick controller and operated direct from dvr and still problem remained decided could be loose wire or conection in PTZ as the problem only occured when attempting to move the cam so took the cam to peices looking for any wire or conection problesm and found nothing, reassemled and problem had gone away or so i thought. refitted cam back in its site and everthing was fine untill around a month later when fault reoccured and as the problem had resolved after disasembly of cam last time i decided that has to be faulty and went and bout a new one fitted new cam and all was good ( for about another month) then problem is back obviously it wasnt the origanl cam at fault and by now i had given up more less on what to blame so didnt bother trying to move the cam anymore and just used it as a static cam instead and it stayed that way for another 12 months untill i decided to change the DVR for an Xvision unit and at same time changed from using rg59 to using cat5 in doing so thought as that was the last part of the system them maybe that would resolve the fault but the fault is still there i have now noticed that if i control the camera slowly from the joystick then it continues working ok but if i try to move it reasonably qickly then the video dies or sometimes the cam will do a reboot on its own, but strange that it only seams to be when the cam is controlled at around half or more of the speed it is capable of doing i do hope some of you guys out there might have some idea about this problem as it really is so annoying thanks in advance

AVTECH 787D and eagle eys app on iphone
nice111 replied to nice111's topic in Digital Video Recorders
i have considered that to be honest but if its anything like when i had to remove replace an app once before i discovered i had to purchase the app again which i find completly wrong when you already purchased and through no fault of your own you cant get a fresh copy, one thing i have learned with app store and apps is that there never seems to be a way of obtaining a fresh downlaod for something you already own and infact i once paid for an app that didnt work and when i contacted the vender of the program they claimed they are not responsible for refunds and that is apples problem but apple say they dont hold responsibility either so dont issue refunds ( i cant even work out who it is that actually makes has the money from purchases, is it the vendor or apple?, i know thats gone off topic a little there but brought back they frustrations of that time i should have been abe to get my money back anyway i spose i will have to end up biting the bullet so to speak and delte the app and then buy it again although i do hold a reluctance because it had same problem on old phone aswell and nothing had cnaged at all when the problem first occured -
ok i will get back up the ladder and try what you say say and put the wires together to see if it improves getting the required amps down to the camera i cant try the PSU trick you suggest right now as i dont have one available so if it still doesnt work after putting the wires together then i will go and buy a new PSU i will let u know how i get on thanks

i see where your coming from here and yes i did use one pair for video, one pair for power and one pair for data + and- but im not sure why the fault would have originally start when i had rg59 and seperate power unless of course that power line just detoriated with age although it had only been up approx 3 yrs?? would you sugest i i double up the pairs for the power then? the only problem in doing that if i remeber right is there would not be enough wires then for video and data with the cat5 although its been a while now and cant quite remeber how many wires are in there

AVTECH 787D and eagle eys app on iphone
nice111 replied to nice111's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi, yes i did move the app pver from old phone but i dont really see how this can affect it though because the problem was on the old phone aswell anyway -
Hi, sorry guys, i never got any notifications about getting replies so appolgies For that but just so you know things have moved on slight because now i use an AVtech 78D dvr as i needed more cams and the xvision was only 4 channel, i havent looked any further into the issue on the ptz because i still dont know what to blame but over a period of time everthing has changed in the system as per my original post apart from one thing and thats what you guys mention the ptz power supply so, it uses 24vac and 4.5 amps and was originally run down seperate power cable and rg59 for video but as said before that has been replaced with cat5 and problem still present, i have now done away with the joystick i had and instead opted for a small unit that has its own dedicated remote control pureley for the ptz and that worked really well even on high speed for a couple of weeks untill the problem reared again so i have now set speed slow so i can at least have some control with the video loss, i just cant understand why everytime i replace somethinng the problem goes away for a short time and then re occures, what a nightmare, i will now change that cam power supply though unless you can think of anything else? thanks again guys

Need help with remote monitoring my DVR
nice111 replied to rob36's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
you ca forget all of the posts relating to configuration because your configuration is already spot on ! you have proved this by being able to see the camera page when you enter your dvr through the internet, this problem can ocur with Avtech Dvrs and its because you need the correct codec loaded into your internet explorer so that the display can show, i would place a bet that when your screen comes up there is a good chance that the camera screen shows blank but does show a little red X in a box??? the biggest problem here is i cant exactly rember where you need to get this codec from as its been quite a while since i sorted mine so i would suggest doing a bit of googling to try and find it but i do remmber it took me a while to discover it as there seams to be little or no info available on this fault which is pretty annoying to say the least when the frustration kicks in when struggling to get things to display, also if you have an iphone there is an app available for use with this DVR called eagle eyes so you can checkout your cams anytime anywhere (there is a free version and paid version aswell) paid version only any good if you need extras like PTZ control so if your cameras are static then just take the free version. if i can think of the name of that codec i will post it back here !
