  1. I have a customer who wants to be able to open his cash drawer remotely to view the contents with a camera on his DVR. He has a MICROS POS cash register system for his restaurant. I have set up DVR's for remote view but not to interface with a cash register. Would this be capable with a DVR? What brand DVR works well? Thanks for the help.

    Open Cash Register Drawer Remotely

Here is additional info I found from a Subway Restaurant owner. DTT Surveillence out of California has software with their POS/DVR that will allow user to open cash drawer remotely. The drawer must be closed manually though making this ability more of a notification to the employee that they are being monitored.

  4. A DVR manufacturer's tech support indicated to me that any DC voltage over .5 volts measured across the coax core and ground can cause problems with their DVR. The DVR reboots itself at willl. and acts erratically. Does anyone have knowledge of this and what to do to correct it? Thanks.
  5. The DVR is a Tempest Microsystems and the cameras are mostly day night color bullet cameras. I don't know the manufacturer of the cameras as there is no marking on them. Can DC voltage be picked up in coax by running too close to 110 volt wires? Jimlyn
  6. I am looking to set up a simple 1 to 3 camera system for remote viewing only (no recording needed) using the telephone line. The customer does not have internet service although he does have a computer on site with an internal modem. What might be the lowest cost option available for this application. Thanks for your help. Jim

  8. Can anyone bring me up to speed on permits and the license requirement for installation of CCTV and burglar alarms in NJ? I presently have an application in with the state of NJ for my "Alarm Installers License" which is now becoming mandatory. I have been told that I will not hear anything untill November due to their backlog. I do not have an "electrical license" and it seems towns are requiring an electrical license for these installations. I have a leasee of a small commercial building wanting a burglar alarm and CCTV switcher installed and apparantly I need a permit but how to handle the possible license requirement. Am I dead in the water? Thanks for the response.

  10. Are there any suggestions on obtaining quality subcontracting work. My brother and I have been installing security systems for a number of years for couple of security companies in the NJ, NY area. We would like to expand our services and grow. Are there any websites to advertise or put our name out on, or manufacturers that use contractors. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks. Jim
