Car gets broken into a lot but HOA does not allow cameras mounted outside of the house. I need something that can go in the garage and shoot out at the drive way through the top windows. Perhaps two cameras shooting in an X mounted on each side wall. I live in AZ so it can be 110 degrees on average during summer. Not exactly that hot inside the garage but still gets hot. Need something with night vision as well. Wireless a plus. Trying not to spend more than $200 per camera but would consider it. Thanks!

Sorry, nowhere near Chicago. Was just confirming it was possible to do what you wanted with that switch. I did some looking around. I've never configured HP switches (just Cisco) but based on the specs, yes, you can do what the customer wants. The installer may not know how to configure the switch which is why he probably wrote it off. You can create a VLAN on the switch just for the ports the cameras are plugged into. No need to use the dual NIC's. Just plug the computers into the same switch. If the customer wants to have the computers on the same network as the cameras, just make sure the ports you plug them into are assigned to the same VLAN. If they want the computers on the other network, you can assign access lists to allow just those two computers to talk to devices on the VLAN. Just make sure they are all plugged into the same switch.

Hi everyone, I am currently looking for an IP camera that will give me better picture quality for longer distances. I am currently using cheap FOSCAM FI8918W cameras but have recently got some money to invest in a couple better cameras. Unfortunately, it's hard to tell what would do nicely without actually buying the product first. Here is a sample of one of our images. The camera is mounted 15 ft high and I am trying to get better detail of where the man is standing which is about 60 ft out. Also, our entire building is surrounded by glass windows. So the camera needs to be able to adapt to change in lighting conditions nicely (which the FOSCAM does horribly). What you see above is the sun rising on the East in the morning. In the afternoon it will be directly in front of the camera. I am trying to find something no more than $500 per camera, but cheaper is better to be able to replace other FOSCAM cameras.

Can you provide the model of the HP switch? Do you know if it is a managed switch?
