I think I found the right place to ask my question. My husband was given a 16 channel DVR (Western Digital HDD 160 GB) with a DVD-R (LG brand). He got it working and all is well, but we cannot figure out the system manufacturer...I am guessing people piece components (like the LG DVD-R) in a case, and it really doesn't matter who manufactures it, but it would be nice to know a little more about the capabilities of the entire system (without risking screwing something up by just playing with the menu). For instance, I nearly locked the system choosing an Admin function and luckily guessed the passcode was "1". There is no sticker or identification anywhere on the case itself (and from the menu and date on components, it looks to be 4 or 5 years old). Is there a way to tell intrinsically, within the menu, somehow? I found a "DVR Version", but that didn't really help when I searched it. Would the motherboards inside help us to narrow down a particular system or software manufacturer? Sorry if this seems like an odd question, but I've never really fooled around with one of these before. Thanks in advance.
