    Camera placement & wires

That looks good! I would need one more camera on the bottom left of the picture, to cover the front of the house. That's 'zoomed in', right? Most of the cameras should be between 2,8mm and 4mm. I want the wide view so each camera covers as much ground as possible (look at the 'Views' image above).

    Camera placement & wires

That kind of bracket + enclosure is a no-go. It stands out to much on the house I kind of like the low profile of the CNB dome camera, especially with the new idea to mount them sideways. How about the idea of placing the DVR in the garage? In the current setup there are only 2 cameras on the house, and 3 outside. Only thing that needs to be done is put a internet cable to the garage from the house (Plus, I think I can manage to drill some holes in the garage wall )

    Camera placement & wires

Interesting, that would save me a lot of time in the yard! The only problem is that the house has many corners, it's impossible to see (overview) everything with a few cameras mounted to the house

    Camera placement & wires

That was the idea Thanks for thinking with me on this! You setup is indeed 'all out' In the future I might get more cameras to get better identification, but for now I just need a solid 'overview' setup. I've played around in the CCTV Design Tool software. This gives some more insight on what I'm trying to accomplish: The camera setup: The camera views: I'm looking at 5 x CNB VBM-24VF (the PTZ IP cam is not in this layout). You have a good point on mounting the cameras sideways. It saves on costs and would look better indeed! Flush-mounting is not an option. Oh btw, a small change in layout: I forgot about a greenhouse located on the left of the house (the grey square on camera view #4).

    Low light camera's

Hi, I'm trying figure out whats best for night surveillance around my house. I've read about floodlights, IR illuminators and camera's with build in IR. But I can't seem to find any info or reviews about low light camera's that work well without any IR or lights. Does anyone know about good low light camera's (price range: $200-$300)? I get some streetlight on the area, so it's not completely dark in most area's. I've been thinking about motion activated floodlights, but I'm worried about false reactions to animals or falling leaves etc. Thanks! LJ

    Low light camera's

I've got the contact information of a CNB reseller here in The Netherlands, I requested a price for two CNB VBM-24VF and two wall mounts.. They don't have the VBM-24VF but they do have the LCM-21VF (Same camera? But with IR?). Now get this: the price? €730,- (around $1.050,-)! I have checked out some US based webshops, they can ship the products around the world for half that price! Am I missing something or are they seriously overcharging for these cameras?

    Low light camera's

Wauw! Allright, the CNB Monalisa VBM-24VF it is! Now I need to find a reseller in Europe. I'll start with 2 units, then expand to a max of 8. I think I'll just drop the European sales-team a mail. I assume the camera doesn't come standard with a wall-mount?

Need advise about outdoor LED Motion lights

That looks decent. Does anyone know exactly how much sun (time) these kind of lights need? And do they need 'direct' sunlight, or just 'daylight'. I'm asking because I live in The Netherlands and it's pretty much always clouded here

    Low light camera's

It's mainly because of the crazy on/off/on/off all the time.. A false trigger once in a while shouldn't be a problem. I like the idea of the lights being on at half the brightness and switch to full on motion. What kind of floodlights support that function? That looks perfect! I have the same question as Adam, what kind of IR spots do you use? Good call. Is it just me or is there no 'authorized dealer' page on their website?

    Low light camera's

That's great, so the neighbors can't complain Does anyone know a CNB supplier in Europe (I'm located in The Netherlands)? Or should I try my luck on eBay?

    Low light camera's

Thanks for the replies! I wanted to ask you for a example screen, but I figured I check out YouTube first: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gi4zLasNu-w Thank you That looks perfect! Fr Left is a IR camera right? I'm trying to avoid build in IR because of bugs close to the camera Awesome, thanks! I think my situation is like your second screenshot, maybe even a little more light, so that's what I need!
  13. To finalize this topic: the AVN284 (or AVN244) is a IP camera. So it does not connect to the AVC796 at all . But it works like a charm via the EagleEyes app
  14. Hi, I'm trying to figure out if I can control the PTZ functions from a Av-tech AVN284 Speed Dome (connected to a AVC796(B) DVR) via the EagleEyes iPhone application. After corresponding with a few shops I can't seem to get a clear answer. In short: The AVN284 is connected to a AVC796(B) DVR, and the DVR is accessible via EagleEyes on the iPhone. Is it possible to control the PTZ-functions in this setup via the iPhone? (Note: the AVC796 doesn't seem to support DCCS, so it must be connected via RS485 control wires.) Does anyone know if it's possible? Thanks in advance! LJ
  15. You've probably seen these, but just in case, FLIR: http://www.flir.com/cvs/americas/en/lawenforcement/maritime/ A nice way to spend those buckets of money
  16. Hi everybody, I'm trying to set up a surveillance system for my new house and, as with everything, the first thing I had to do is gather information. And after reading a lot of topics on this forum this seems to be the right place My interest for camera surveillance started years ago with a webcam connected to simple software, after that it went on to a webcam stream, multiple camera's, motion detection notification, connecting camera's to a home automation system.. etc. This was all done with USB camera's and computers at my student apartment, so nothing professional or anything At one point I got a old 4 channel DVR (type and brand still unknown ). The thing I liked most about the DVR was the standalone stability of the system. No hassle with software and PC's. But it was a old DVR with not that many features so I missed a lot of functions. Now, moving into a new house, it's time to create a decent system (since there are more places to monitor). I'm starting out with a 8 channel DVR with 5 wired camera's and 3 wireless (if they work) and see where it goes from there (after all, it remains a hobby for me ). Of course I will be running into trouble real soon and I'm hoping to find answers and solutions on this forum Thanks for reading! All the best, LJ
  17. Thanks for your reply tomcctv! Through your link I came across the demo-page again, I noticed the AVN244 demo (missed that one before), tried it in EagleEyes-plus and it works like a charm. So I think I'll go for the AVN244. Does anyone know the big difference between the AVN244 and the AVN284? (Besides the vandal-proof housing.)
