  1. Yeah the bigger jobs is where i am at now...I was in wholesale and this place had no idea what direction to go to....up to 2000 MP cameras and yes some with analytics which is why i would not consider SDI for here.
  2. True, but we are in different worlds where i am the customer and i would be happier to be charged the labour and have a nive new higher resolution camera then a 720p camera
  3. Hey Magapixelman, Yes i acknoledge it is a good thing, but personally i would never use or recommend it and i also acknoledge everyone will always have their own opinion and choice on what they like and what they would do.....
  4. yeah the sanyo dome i was testing the socket was not quite flush so could not be mounted without a bracket. I did not know they had been sold to panasonic though which is a shame because their other cameras were great too....if you cant beat your competition buy them and shut them down
  5. Yes but you have to have the specific hardware to match the SDI version cameras. I do not believe it warrants the use of such cameras. With the cost of fibre being so cheap and cost of fibre to ethernet switches why would you use a 720p camera if it is supposed to be the same price as a megapixel?
  6. Hi Rory, Yes i know what you mean but with internet you get what you pay for. If the client wants to have a very good upload then they will have to pay for it. But generally even cheap internet in Australia is still good enough to push out 4 x 4CIF cameras. The megapixel cameras generally have multi streams in megapixel resolution but also have a low sub stream which is about 4CIF resolution for low bandwidth footage.
  7. Hi Rory, Yes that is true but i think we are going through just local not external which is what i am reffering to. But with megapixel cameras external you would use such as mine port 554 which is a lower quality stream for external viewing, but locally still megapixel recorded quality.
  8. I have to agree. Unless you are going to start running 50 or more cameras and depends on the bitrate and quality to how much bandwidth. When for a home or small commercial i wouldnt think twice about the amount of bandwidth you will use. As you should always do your own network as not to disrupt their network unless needed to.
  9. Hikvision camera. $299 australian i think is pretty cheap.
  10. Yes the cameras dont have Gb ports generally, however you can get switches with 10/100 and for your recorder or PC to use a GB port for all the streams to go over.
  11. yes i came from security wholesale and we were looking at this technology. We could not find one that is perfected as yet to date. The biggest problem was the price. 3 x times the price of a 2 MP camera. I dont see many people at the moment wanting to pay that much for a technology that will still only do 720p
  12. This is my bargin basement 2 Megapixel 2.8mm fixed lens camera. It is about 35 feet high on the top floor but has an awsome picture i think for the price. I had to resize the image down from 1600 x 1200
