    PowerTelecomm DVR Problems

To my understanding, Dan was looking for a unit that has a built-in video server so that no additional software is required for remote access. Both the 1608 and the the ICRealtime have this functionality, but I don't believe this is a standard feature on all DVRs yet? p.s. - On a side, still new to the forum and not quite sure why Dan's link to our site got removed. Our web pricing is retail, dealer pricing is negotiated offline. I only bring it up as honest feedback on a unit, positive or otherwise, is always useful in determining/updating a product line. Thanks!
  2. Drives without jumpers, eh? Wow, I learned something new today too. Thanks Rene.
  3. Each drive has a legend/diagram on it showing the JUMPER settings. The primary drive will be set as MASTER by default. The jumper on your secondary 320gb drive needs to be set to SLAVE device. The jumper is a physical part of the hardware - you'll have to disassemble the PC to get to it on drive. Newbie - Which type of camera?

nice call kandcorp. another thing to check with infrareds is the power supply. be sure you've got enough power going to it, but too much can be a problem as well. funny, the link you sent - the dealer recommends a DC12V 1000mA power supply, but only sells the 1200mA.

Newbie - Which type of camera?

have you already tried troubleshooting the existing camera? sometimes experimenting with the backlight and auto white balance will yield good results. try alternate turning one of them off and then the other to see if the night picture gets any better. what about adding an outdoor light?

    Wharehouse Suggestions

just thought of something else. we typically include one camera with audio in the counter area. we recommend the customer not record this feed for legal reasons (audio recording creates all sorts of liabilities), but the manager likes to be able to hear what's going on from his office. this can alert the manager of important customers, potential issues, and employees just horsing around. nice little bonus and not much more from a cost consideration.

    Wharehouse Suggestions

we've got a large account with a distributor of pool products. they operate over 200 large warehouses (~20-40k sq feet) and use bullets in the warehouse and domes/boxes at the counter. we've "experimented" with multiple setups, and they've been most pleased with the bullet cameras. they've been rugged enough to deal with the harsh warehouse environments, and cheap enough that they can put plenty around. i wouldn't recommend the p/t/z, as they're an expensive option and despite the "coolness" factor, you're not going to get much use out of them in the long run. granted, i have to agree with rory regarding quality, but truth be told it's a matter of customer preference. in this case, internal theft deterrent is the primary motivator for the cameras, so they want lots of them around and the quality only has to be good enough to recognize an employee. my advice, make sure to figure out the owner's intent beforehand.
