Hello, Jumping straight to the point, I need to be able to download the video files from my DVR. I have got a D2014GA, though in all honesty I do not know who manufactured it. It has got a USB port, and boasts that it saves all video files into MPEG4 format. I thought maybe a USB direct transfer cord would do the trick, but no such luck. It, of course, has got the standard ethernet networking port on the back too, but I do not know anything about networking to try and figure out if that is a viable option. I use this machine, along with four IR bullet cameras for ghost hunting and paranormal investigation, so the system is broken down and moved around quite a bit. I hope I have this question in the right section. Thank you for any help you can provide. KC Tech Manager G.H.O.S.T. Paranormal Investigations

If a user guide exists for this model, I don't have it. We got the unit used, without a manual. I've hunted online for one with no luck. The remote does not have any buttons that look like a USB or floppy disc, or anything at all. Windows 7 doesn't give me the option to format into just FAT. I get FAT32, exFAT, and one other, I can't remember. I'll hunt around online to see if I can find a program that will format it into FAT.

I must have misspoke, I apologize. I haven't been able to even find a way to access the backup features. I have searched through the menus, and I cannot find anything that seems to mean "back up." In truth, I'm not even 100% sure how I'm supposed to connect to the device. I have plugged in the USB device I described above (haven't had a chance to get my hands on the USB device you described yet). When I did, nothing happened, and I didn't get any new options. Maybe I can get access to it via the networking options? I don't know anything about networking. This is my machine, along with some info on it, if any of it is useful. http://www.colincamera.com/en/product.asp?id=69

Alright, I'll try to track something like that down and give it a shot. Also, just so we're on the same page - I cannot even find an option to "back up" or anything with a similar title.

It is an 8GB FAT32 format It says "HP" on it, so I assume that's the maker.

No luck. I put in a clean, correctly formatted flash drive, and I can't get the device to move the files to it.

Fantastic, I'll look into this. Thank you very much!

Alright. I tried a flash drive, but it wasn't clean. How do I know if it is formated correctly?
