Creating a CCTV feed on a tv station in my house
HTElectrical replied to troy6363's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Yes, as long as you don't have cable or satellite broadcasting on the same frequency, not channel frequency. If there is you have to use a cut filter before the cable or satellite to block out the designated freq. -

You could always buy the ends and solder them yourself (VGA) if your soldering skills are any good. -

What is going to look cleaner? VGA cables aren't that expensive if you know where to buy them from. Just label each connector as you disconnect them, that way when you get done you can bundle each DVR together, and make it nice and neat. -
can't believe somebody got paid for this install

Good point, although that really just reinforces what I said: simply receiving the stream and writing it to disk is not processor-intensive... it's all that other stuff that is, particularly the decoding that's required for everything else to happen (analytics, motion detection, transcoding, etc.) Agreed. Both Exacq and Avigilon use camera based motion detection so that's how the cpu usage is low. Lets move all the Avigilon chat here viewtopic.php?f=20&t=27688 Now why would they want to do that -
Budget Camera for use in enclosure, day/night
HTElectrical replied to Rally_Rebel's topic in Security Cameras
That is an old Pelco camera. -
Yes, you can disable the sense up, but why would it be unfair? The image is great, the video is smooth, not choppy, and you can get a better color image than most black and white cameras can provide.

Here are a couple of images of the Mintron 83W7N-VF-VP
-
You're right, there you go.
-
Actually, suggested retail for that camera is 360.00, and that is only because it is a 22X optical zoom camera, which does not make the image any better than the CNB, just enables it to zoom in on farther objects.
-
hi. never had a CNB as bad as that. BUT i would say it is a setup problem. you cant compare those two images as the lighting is not the same in both images. CNB you have the extra lighting infront of the camera and on the Mintron you have it behind the camera Ah yes I can compare those 2 images. The CNB is mounted 1 foot below the Mintron and the image was taken at the same time for both cameras.
-
Well this is what it looks like in the exact same position same light etc.... CNB sent it back to me after I sent it in for warranty and I quote If that is fine than CNB really SUCKS! Mintron camera for comparison.

Questions for you PRO CCTV Intallers..?? Pay? Misc? Q n A?
HTElectrical replied to johnny916's topic in Test Bench
I should of been more specific. The local code will define the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), which will have the ultimate discretion on what is allowed and what is not allowed in your particular instance and it is usually not allowed in living areas. Also it is is not permitted where subject to physical damage, then only schedule 80 is permitted, but Some local codes require the use of metal conduit outside. -

In the US it is against code, especially in a commercial application. -

Best night vision IP cameras???
HTElectrical replied to Daskew78's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yeah, after I wrote that I thought that it might be more like the shutter speed, but basically it has the same result. -
That is overkill for what he wants to do. They have just an IR repeater for $28.00. They also just opened a US warehouse so no more extended wait times, though that will not help Rory any. Ditto on the PayPal.

An IR repeater will work just fine. X10 makes fairly inexpensive units, you could probably even find some very cheap at DealXtreme.

Those videos are basically useless IMO. The FPS looks to be around 2 or 3, which is pretty sad.
