Cybex and Nova View are excellent as well. I found that good cables are most important. The cheap products usually come with cheap cables. As said, you get what you pay for.
-
The application is not resource hungry at all, and the video card is not an issue here.
-
Now installed the client and it works just fine. Same TV programs on the second site, and too dark to see anything on the first one. The compression is nothing special, ~2k for a medium-low quality frame. From a quick glance it seems to have a bad GUI design. I'll look into it deeper later.
-
sorry, I didn't install anything, just went to: http://www.i-view.com.tw/Test.htm and some asian TV programs appeared in the screens
-
It's working. Reduce your IE's security level to "low".
-
It's only caused because of a bad connection to the server or a bad server software that is integrated with the geovision software.
-
I agree.
-
oops, thought you meant SCSI raid... SCSI drives are much more reliable, but you pay 6 times more.
-
I just hope it won't be me paying for it...

ATI makes chipsets for Intel platform as well. They integrate a Radeon 9100 into it. haven't got them chance to test the yet though. http://www.ati.com/products/radeon9100proigp/index.html

What exactly do you mean in "all screwed up..."? It's probably the video card. But try to disable all other cameras. In Aver's Eyes-Pro, if you only connect one camera, you won't see an image until you disable the other three. Other problems might be chipset incompatability (usually with non Intel chipsets) and color depth setting (change between 16/32 bit).

thanks for the info

http://www.safeland.co.kr Don't have the card itself, but I've installed the software and it looks very slick. It replaces the windows desktop, while limiting access only to required functions (the GUI looks like a standalone DVR system). The application itself has a very well designed GUI, the best I met by now. They use their self developed MPEG4 algorithm, claimed to be the first MPEG4 system in Korea. Anyway, it seems very interesting. Just before I order some samples... Anyone who tried it? *** now I know where safelong got his name from

They might be writing Chance-i's GUI. But I doubt that... -

I talked to one of vendoma's representitives a month ago, and was told that the demo on their site only uses Chance-i's GUI. They told me that the cards they use are manufactured for them in Korea, and did not claim that they manufacture them, like many others do. Their site is very good, and provides a lot of information for the newbie. They also have a very nice online customer-support system. Do you have a photo of the card? -
Any good brand Intel 865PE based motherboard will do. All the known brands are good for the task. anything more than 256MB and a 2.4Ghz Celeron is a waste of money for a 4 Channel system, unless you intend that more than 1 or 2 users will connect to the system remotely at the same time. In that case a memory increase should be the first step. BTW, I'm testing the very cheap SOYO SY-P4I865PE Plus Dragon2 Version 1.0 now and its' BIOS lacks the option for a restart in case of power loss, although the manual says the board has this option. It's a new board and the issue might be fixed with a new BIOS release, but for now it is not acceptable for a DVR system.

Some vendors cover the chipset with a sticker or a heat sink. You can use WCPUID or Bios Wizard to easily retrieve the CPU and Chipset information. Both does not require any installation, therefore no system changes occur. Here: http://cgi2.tky.3web.ne.jp/~nrklv/cgi-bin/softdl.cgi?wcpu330.exe http://www.unicore.com/biosmd/021801/bwz-rel.exe

you can easily change the look of any application using someting like Resource Hacker: http://www.users.on.net/~johnson/resourcehacker/ Here's comart's link: www.comartsystem.com They aren't cheap, although they do seem quite impressive. Besides the SDK, they can also supply the source code for their applications. Might be a good starting point if you only need minor changes or only a few additional features.

AverMedia LX-5016 Linux-Based DVR Card

I can just say there aren't any software updates for this product on their site. -
adsl router question/possible system design issue
loop replied to maximum protection's topic in Computers/Networking
It is possible to use the modem in order to connect to another computer and send/recieve information over the phone line even when connected to the internet on the same line via DSL. If your application supports sending those triggers via modem, and the other computer holds an application that would accept those triggers, then I don't see any problem. Anyway, best thing is to test it for yourself -
Great idea, didn't think about it....

Does anyone know if there are cards that their bundled software takes advantage of displaying the cameras over multiple monitors?
-
http://www.anykeeper.com/en/ http://www.magicradar.com If anyone wants, I can upload magic radar user's manual somewhere. From my experience GEO's video quality over the net is better than MagicRadar's. Probably using better image compression/decompression algorithms.

adsl router question/possible system design issue
loop replied to maximum protection's topic in Computers/Networking
It is possible technically, but I don't know of any DVR software that will support this. Furthermore, if you intend to run it 24/7, it will turn up to be more expensive than upgrading your DSL's upload speed.
