Anyone have any scoop on Nice Systems...?
loop replied to pinchio's topic in Digital Video Recorders
PM me about pricing. -
There's no real need to use an AV, but if you have to, then I recommend AntiVir. Low on resources, free and does the job well. www.free-av.com As for firewall, sygate is the best free one: http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm also low on resources, very easy to use, and the most important: it's effective.

I'm upgrading a clients' dvr system by adding another 4ch MP5000 card to an existing one. Does anyone knows if I have to reinstall the application in order to set it to 8 channels or can I just plug the card, install the drivers, and the application will auto configure itself to 8 channels? TIA

There shouldn't be any problem with the stream over LAN. You should be able to view it in real time. My guess is that your problem is related to using SP2. There are already many reported applications that stops working after installing SP2, and some problems related to Client/Server connections. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=842242&product=windowsxpsp2 http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497 I will recommend to try this fix first: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=884020 Some P2P applications fails to create multiple connections over TCP/IP without this fix. If this won't help, I would try it on a system without SP2 Installed. Good luck Let us know...

What OS and service packs are you using are you using and what is its' history? Did you install the card after a clean OS installation? Did you make any tweaks to the OS?

Please run an upload test and post your results here: http://www.pcpitstop.com/internet/bandwidthup.asp It's strange that you get the best results when using "same as recording codec" setting, since this transfers much higher quality frames than "High Speed" or "Best speed".
-
In general digiflower has good transmition speed. Did you try changing settings of quality and transmission speed or disabling audio transmission? I would recommend you begin with testing the actual upload speed of your server, when connecting from a remote machine. You can use some software to measure the upload throughput of your server while someone is remotely connected to it, and at the same time the download throughput at the remote machine.

If you use the no-ip service, put your xxxx.no-ip.org address as the ip. Some information on ip forwarding on a Linksys BEFSR-41 can be found here: http://www.el-usa.com/tips/Quick_Network.pdf Some more useful info: http://www.dvrsecuritysystems.com/dvr_networking.htm

It does look Hurricane proof
-
I think you are mistaking. I assume it provides 30fps recording for high resolution quad. nothing more than that. especially at this price and without any statement about performance on the spec sheet. It's compression is MJPEG. Manual says It works in simplex mode if total recording frame rate is higher than 5 fps. Means you can't playback while recording.
-
It doesn't, and I don't know of any other standalone at this price range that does. It records each channel at 30fps in a resolution of 320 X 240. 352 * 240 ( 120 frame recordable) 704 * 240 ( 60 frame recordable) 704 * 480 ( 30 frame recordable) Check out the specs here: http://www.digi-flower.co.kr/homepage/product/stand_alone.asp You can download the manual: http://www.active-tek.com/jun/Pds/400SManual_eng.pdf http://www.active-tek.com/jun/Pds/QuickGuide_eng.pdf

thanks rory, that's exactly what I am looking for. There's a lot of them, so I'm looking for a review or recommendations for a specific model.

Can anyone recommend a cheap decent IP Phone solution? Any regarding comments or experiences with such products are welcome.
-
1 Channel or 4 Channel screen division.
-
I assume it is a kind of intercom, just that it works over IP network.
-
Sorry for not explaining myself, but I meant standalone IP Phones that can be connected over LAN or VPN for in-house communication, with and without the need of a PC.

Very good image quality for the iqeye. I wouldn't call it streaming though... -
You shouldn't have any problems. Better use 2X256MB DDR in order to take advantage of the Dual Channel DDR technology. How exactly do you intend to view remotely in real-time? Do you intend to view it over LAN?
