Thanks! I've seen some reference to aspherical lenses but isn't consistent, is that a pertinent feature? I'll be shooting some pics from the mounting points with a DSLR for planning to give a perspective of the desired FoV so will post after shooting.

Hi all! Looking for recommendations for a lens to use on GE KTC2000DN camera that will be used outdoors in an enclosure with separate IR LED illuminators (eBay 48 LED cheapies). They'll be mounted about 10' up on either side of our entry gate, two cameras covering opposite approaches on the frontage road. Thanks!

Okay, is this in reference to my mystery cameras I posted pics of or the linked cam on eBay (which claims to have IR cut filter)? I'm gonna guess mystery cams, soooo... Any opinion of linked eBay cam? -

But is it good for the setup outlined in the OP? I've got no problem with older model equipment as long as it's good older model equipment. -

I was poking around eBay looking for another ktc200dn and came across this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/120557449520?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Says it has IR cut filter, anyone ever see these no-names or had experience with? The seller maybe? I'm in no way affiliated, just looking for recommendations based on situation at beginning of thread! -

I admin a few forums similar to this and have a lot of issues with spammers picking some random topic to link a website. What's most entertaining to me is that I've not gotten a single response on my original post until the Swann post and the thread topic STILL hasn't been touched! Now THAT'S funny! I was beginning to think y'all thought I was a spammer! -

I suspect James1986 is a spammer. -

So here's one for you mystery lovers... Name that camera! Here are a couple pics of the cams I have in case anyone can identify them, don't worry as I already expect an overwhelming response of "That's crap!" from y'all, lol. Tried to take a pic this evening of where the initial installation will view but my phone camera wasn't up to task so I'll take the DSLR out next time. Neighbor across street has a utility pole dusk-to-dawn area light and I'm curious if that will affect any of my setup. Thanks! -

Scored a new GE ktc-2000dn on auction so that's at least one camera I won't have to worry about! Additional question: Would there be any issues mounting the IR illuminators immediately under the housings? I'm thinking that way they'll point where the housings point but am concerned with IR glare from objects, like passing vehicles or people, that are closer to the cameras. Thoughts? -

Hopefully to stir up some responses I'll post up some pics of the cameras I have, maybe that'll get some "Those're really OLD!" commentary or similar LOL! Guess I'll juice 'em up and see how they fare in outdoor and night use, maybe I can just get some auto-iris lenses (Computar manuals on now) and use. -
Greetings all! I've been lurking here for the past few days trying to glean some information about what camera to get for my system but haven't had much luck matching capability with price-point. Hopefully y'all can shed some light on my ignorance! Here's what I've got so far: Looking to mount two cameras in enclosures at my ranch entrance gate about 10 - 15 feet high and 20 feet apart (either side of gate on entry arch) covering opposite approaches of road. It's rural, no street lights, and I have external IR illumination (120', unsure of wavelength). I'm using 5.8GHz wireless point-to-point to get the signal about 1000' to a Samsung DVR. I've got all the components except the cameras. Originally I had thought to use some leftover CCD units from when I worked at a bank in IT, no-name units installed by Diebold, but I'd have to invest in new auto-iris CS lenses and that puts me close to new camera pricing and I have no idea what these cameras low light ability is. Sooooo... Any suggestions for a pair of cameras that will fit the enclosures and give good night coverage with the external IR arrays? Thanks and if I've left out something needed just let me know, I'll be checking the forum regularly!
