  2. Hi all, We are a small company (10 people) who design and install broadcast grade video over IP systems (so we know a lot about cameras, encoders, compression technology, networks etc). Last weekend we moved into a new office and on Thursday last week we were broken into… Thanks to redcare the police arrived in less than 5 mins but they managed to get away with a couple of laptops and now we are kicking ourselves that we hadn’t prioritised installation of CCTV. The building we moved into already has about 8 analogue cameras around the outside but the composite BNCs are not terminated. We tested them with a standard monitor and 3 or 4 of them appear to be functioning. My current plan is to use the working cameras where available and the existing coax and power runs to install new cameras where needed. What I’m really struggling with is the choice of DVRs and lack of accurate comparable technical specification. Key requirements are - At least 8 channels of composite all to be recorded independently (more than 10 would be great!) - As high (SD) resolution as possible i.e. ideally D1, I would have thought a decimated frame rate would be ok, I can’t imagine 25fps is needed - Android and remote web based interface - Motion alarms to send an email alert – ideally with a frame as an attachment if not we can just log into the Android app - Good value!! - Would love hybrid IP NVR capability but the price premium seems to rule it out – perhaps however we could use some standalone FOC or opensource software with a couple of HD IP cameras in the future (can anyone recommend any software to play with on the side?). I found a few options below.. am I aiming too low? Is anyone able to provide recommendations or feedback on the products below or alternatives?.. ---------------------- Swan DVR8-1200 8 channel D1 DVR, 1TB, 4 * 480 cameras £299.99 inc VAT http://www.maplin.co.uk/1tb-8ch-network-security-system-with-smartphone-viewing-and-4-x-480tvl-cameras-589999?utm_source=maplin&utm_medium=topproducts&utm_content=589999&utm_campaign=frontpage&footpanel=off ---------------------- Dahua Reptile 8 channel (no cameras included) 6fps at D1 £192 inc VAT http://www.uksecurityshop.com/special-offer---8-ch-input-dahua-reptile-vga-h264-compression-cctv-dvr-hdd-optional-240-p.asp ---------------------- XDH DVR XDH CT8 – 8 channels (no cameras included) 25fps at D1 £489 inc VAT http://www.cctvdirect.co.uk/products/XDH-Compact-DVR-Real-Time-Internet-%26-Mobile-Ready%21%21.html ---------------------- Many thanks in advance! 3. Yep - we were very lucky with the 5 min response - there happened to be a car around the corner. At previous offices it has been closer to 30 mins.. What is the issue with the Swann, reliability, features, video quality caused by poor implementation of H.264 compression? Is this the one you had in mind? http://www.cameras-cctv.com/dvr-hybrid/AVerDiGi_EH1008H-4_Nano - How do you rate the Dahua Reptile? Kind regards Rich
  4. Hello - what did you end up going with? Kind regards Rich
