Suerte!

GeoVision GV-600 - Can it call you when it sees motion?
dahomes555 replied to dahomes555's topic in Geovision
That was my first thought. He said he hasn't had his alarm panel turned on for years. -
Sold a system to a mechanic today for a new site. I was meeting with him at his old site and he has a GV-600 system. Before switching ISPs and network routers, he insists that the system would call him on his phone at night whenever the cameras saw motion. I looked through all the software settings on his PC and I could see the standard settings for sending an e-mail notification, but nowhere that suggested it could call out. I would imagine that something like this would have to have a settings area for both the modem configuration on the PC, as well as the phone number to be notified. Is it possible to do what he is saying? I'm sure there is a custom script you could write that could do an operation like this, but he insists there wasn't anything like that.

Except you already are using the coax for your satellite/cable, aren't you?

Looking for a professional "game cam"...?
dahomes555 replied to videoVIP's topic in Security Cameras
So you don't need them to stream anything to a DVR or computer, right? You just want to plug it into a power supply, insert an SD card, and review the information on the SD card if there is ever an incident, right? If that's the case, there are a ton of options available. On Amazon, you can pick up a pan tilt camera with wifi and an SD card for under $100 (free shipping on Prime too!) . Search for Esky C5900. That'll let you stream the video over wifi to a computer if you have one in range, or record onto an SD card @ 30fps. Has IR and even has an IR cut filter. Shoot, why don't I buy these cameras? -
You need to select the option to view in Compatability Mode. It's the little squiggly lines on your address bar between the search icon and the reload icon. I can see it on your screenshot. Just click that and it will reload the page correctly.

You can always use yougetsignal.com as well to test ports.

Welcome. Are you an end user, installer, distributor, integrator?

Few DVRs are putting out apps with that capability. Most are live view only. Dahua DVRs just recently updated their apps to allow playback. Don't know of which other ones do. Zmodo definitely doesn't. They don't make their own app, they just allow their protocols to be supported by generic apps like APlayer, VMEye, IP Cam Viewer, etc.

Apollo DVR Web Service fails randomly - have to reboot DVR.
dahomes555 replied to jesterace's topic in Computers/Networking
Sounds like a defective DVR. Contact manufacturer for support and RMA if necessary. Most Apollo DVR should have 3 yr warranty. -
QVIS IC Realtime Mace Dahua A-Data Edge All basically the same. Dahua doesn't sell direct in USA. They sell through suppliers like the ones listed above who repackage and rebrand the product. Look for the features you need from those manufacturers and select based on price and warranty

Need help identifying these system components
dahomes555 replied to kyferez's topic in General Digital Discussion
Decent panel setup, but what a messy install! Looks like you've identified pretty well what's in there. What is your question? -
Others may have a better idea, but I would use the two cat6 cables you have and connect an HDMI over Ethernet kit. Search amazon or I have had good experience with Monoprice for this part. Let's you use two cat5 or 6 cables to pass full 1080p video over cat cable. The kit features two wall plates with an HDMI port on front and two Ethernet ports on back. Then, as you mentioned, you can connect DVR to an open HDMI input on tv. There may be other options available, but this will, certainly get you the highest resolution possible out of your DVR. Coax isn't going to get you HD output from any DVR I am aware of! If you're wanting to connect to multiple TVs, you'll also need an HDMI splitter for as many TVs as you will be connecting to. Be glad you already have so much extra cable running to each tv. My customers always want DVR connected to all their TVs, but they have a single coax that is already connected to their digital TV source. Nothing you can do there besides pull new cable!

Quality RG59, where to buy?
dahomes555 replied to vbman213's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
No idea why it is so expensive on C2G. Figured it had to be plenum jacket, but doesn't look like it. Do you have an acct at ADI, Tri-Ed, or Worthington? You should be able to pick up 500' box of pro quality cable for around $65-70 there. And you can go pick it up and not have to wait on and pay for shipping! -
Should be fine. Don't forget a POE network switch.

It should only run slowly the first time you open it.

You are installing the gray boxes with the black foam insert, right? That is what gives you a water-tight seal from the front side. Otherwise, the problem sounds like not enough caulk or wrong type of caulk. What are you using? -
Bookmarks are your friend.

DDNS is only needed if you do not have a static IP address from your ISP. Yes, you'll just type in your external IP and you will be set.
-
You need to assign a local ip address to your dvr and input that address to the dvr. This is usually something like 192.168.1.xxx. Then you need to login to your router and enable port forwarding for all the ports specified by your dvr. There are a lot of online resources that can help you with that. Once you have set up port forwarding you will be able to access your dvr remotely by typing the static ip address from your ISP.

A stupid problem to have but i have it.. HELP!
dahomes555 replied to dechowireless's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
The cable is definitely your problem. EP Surveillance cables use 22 ga wire for power. You wouldn't want that cable for anything longer than maybe 50 feet. Get a good quality with 18 ga power wire and run one consecutive piece without any splices and you should be fine. -
Best stand-alone D1 DVRs for remote usage: Q-See? EYEsurv?
dahomes555 replied to dbooksta's topic in General Digital Discussion
Q-See is a more consumer friendly brand than a true professional grade piece of equipment. Q-See is often sold at big box stores. Big box stores are good for cereal and Popsicles, but I wouldn't ever buy electronics there expecting high end results. Dahua DVRs give very good performance an features for a lower price than other more expensive brands. Other brand to consider would be HIKVision. They sell more DVRs than anyone in the world and for good reason. They are super solid, have great features, and are very competitively priced. All depends on what you need it to do and your budget.
