    IP Camera mouting suggestions

If you've never done this before then yeah bullet cams are better. Those domes you have linked to are difficult to install, stay away from those. Here's the junction box for either of these cameras http://www.ebay.com/itm/DAHUA-CCTV-Dome-Bullet-Camera-mounting-Junction-Box-DH-PFA130-/141509693074

    New spamming trend I've noticed

I got an email in December from american express with a credit card transaction alert stating that I just had a $12000 iTunes purchase. I totally flipped and called Amex. I was so certain I was a victim of identity theft until I looked at the email code and the urls were pointing to another website. While I was on the phone with a customer service agent I happened to figure out, and he was assuring me I had no such transaction on my Amex. It was even spoofed with a an americanexpress return email address. If I had click on that link and signed in, I would have given away my amex login info.

8 Channel HD SDI DVR by Dahua

I have a 8 channel dahua HDSDI DVR that is in brand new condition that I am trying to sell. I bought it about 6 months ago for a customer but he backed out at the last minute. It is a 2U Real Time DVR 8 Channel version of the following Dahua item: http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/dvr040408041604hd-s-45.html PM me to let me know of any offers.

Need more information to get started.

It's going to be almost impossible to find one place for all the info. The technology in the CCTV industry is always changing. If you can give more info about what kind of system you are looking for, that may help. You can also go to blogs hosted on individual sites for more information. Here are some examples: http://www.networkwebcams.co.uk/blog/ http://www.ad-hocsecurity.com/cctvblog/ http://www.cctvcameraworld.com/blog/ What ever you do just don't buy a HDSDI system. I am still up for HDCVI systems if you never see yourself going beyond 1080p resolution.

    Need counsel

Like any other seller online, they have a mixed bag of reviews. I can tell my looking at their cheaper cameras that they are selling longse cameras. That goes specially for their HDCVI cameras. Since you are new to shopping for CCTV, what that means is that those cameras are dirt cheap and not worth the exaggerated prices they are being sold for. Their IP camera prices are very expensive. I suggest looking at more site before making a decision, getting a price quote, and then making your decision.

    I need a field monitor for HD-CVI

Those are not Dahua oem HDCVI bullets. They are made from another factory. The oem bullets have a 2 lead wire that lets you convert the signal output to regular coax so it can be tested with a regular CCTV tester: Unfortunately there is no other tester.

license plate camera setup for night

I have tested this camera and I can tell you it does not have a proper shutter rate control mechanism. This camera runs sub $150 and is not worth a penny when it comes to license plate capture. You will be lucky if you can get a plate capture farther than 15ft. You can forget about night time capture with this unless you add light to the area where the plate is being captured. A real license plate camera requires dual shutter rate control, with a IR sensor in the back of the camera. If you need recommendations, PM me. They will cost you $400 and higher.

Embedding analog DVR stream in a webpage?

If you purchase a Dahua system, you can record any or all cameras, and then stream which ever camera you want to a web page by using the rtsp video stream, or even embed a snapshot from each camera. I prefer embedding a snapshot because it conserves bandwidth and will not kill your upload stream for the internet connection where the DVR is located at. I know you mention IP based, but you should know that you can embed streams/snapshots with analog DVRs by Dahua. The DVRs have a very stable webserver built-in that lets you do a few tricks. I am rephrasing the snapshot function description mentioned at 123CCTV (source http://www.123-cctv.com/snapshot-url.html). You can use a url of the following form to embed in to your web page: http://IPADDRESS/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi?&u=[uSERNAME]&p=[PASSWORD] The above url is for ip cameras. Each camera would have a different url. You can separate different cameras by port forwarding different external ports to the http port for each camera. Then, you can use javascript to refresh the url as often as you like, and the url will reload a current picture. I've done this in the past with their help and it worked fine. Just make sure your have plenty of bandwidth for upload where the cameras are located. Also note that the snapshot you get will be at a resolution set in the camera's main stream. So if your camera is set to record at 2mp, the snapshots will be at 2mp. For visitors to the webpage this may become very slow depending on their bandwidth. You could also create a custom script on your webserver that first caches the images, and then recodes them to a smaller size before displaying them to the visitor.
  11. I've used the following post from my supplier to help me with a DVR I purchased in the past. This should work with your NVR as well. The interface may look a little different, but it will all be the same. Make sure you use the web interface to configure. There is a select box for TLS that is not available on certain levels of PSS. http://www.123-cctv.com/how-to-set-email-alerts-on-my-dvr.html

Need help chosing between Camera Brands

Boogieman is right about the system, but I detest Q-see's support team. They are almost impossible to get a hold off. I stopped doing business them 3 years ago. Their wholesale reps would never pick up the phone or reply to voicemails. That's when I was trying to buy stuff. They would respond after 24 hrs via email. If this is how bad their sales team is, imagine how bad their tech support team is. There are plenty of companies selling cheap 1080p systems now. What is different is who is able to support their customers in a timely fashion and keep up with the pace their company is growing. Also, the common buyer doesn't have time to search through the forums for solutions. If you pay a very low price for your system, expect to be on this forum looking for answers. If you pay a higher price, more often than not you will also get great support with your purchase. That goes for the smaller security specific e-commerce setups.

Newbie looking for a NVR 1080P setup for my shop

tomespo, wherever you decide to buy from, make sure that company gives of a vibe that they are will to provide technical support after the purchase. The big brands like lorex and swann are terrible. You will reach a call center with someone you can barely understand. Let's not forget the long hold times before you actually speak to someone. If you are not a technical person, then smaller online outfits are better. There are plenty of them. If you need recommendations, PM me.

    Siamese Cable...audio?

I don't see why this conversation headed towards HD over caox. The OP is asking for an analog solution. There is no solid copper cable on the market with an extra coax/rca run for audio. Your only choice is a premade security camera cable if you are looking for an all-in-one solution like the following: http://www.123-cctv.com/camera-cable/150ft-siamese-cable.html Once you cut the premade ends, you simply have to solder them directly in to the camera and the DVR board. I would also be interested to see what sort of connections you have on your camera and DVR board.

    I need a field monitor for HD-CVI

There aren't any available in the US market yet. Just network the DVR and use the app on your phone as a test monitor. Most of the new DVR's have QR codes so it should be easy to get connected. What kind of HDCVI are you using? don't they have the 2-lead toggle?

    ptz camera question

Be careful. There a lot of companies selling cheap PTZ cameras with infrared. Problem is their quality. Usually the IR LEDs burn out too quickly, or the camera module being used inside is crappy. I will suggest picking up a COP security or Dahua PTZ. They are very good in quality. They look like this (notice close similarity of cheap ones to the dahua design)

    Box cam and lens question

The ICR refers to the IR cut filter. If you don't use IR, it doesn't matter. I don't see how you will be able to have a 200ft depth of field and keep a wide viewing angle with any analog camera. That's sort of impossible. You may want to try a 5 or 8 megapixel ip camera.

How to chose best Camera to mate to DVR?

Do you mind telling us which DVR you using to record on to a SD card? Secondly, if you purchased 600TVL cameras, which ones were they? make sure they were not cmos cameras as those will be of less clarity than a 420 TVL SONY CCD. Third, Kawboy12R is right. The 2.5mm lens will reduce clarity as it is very fisheye. Did you try to compare the 3.6mm lens vs 2.5mm?
  19. centralalarms

    Need lens recommendation

These lenses are almost identical and wouldn't make a difference if you use one or the other. Your camera is a 600TVL. You mentioned having the most depth of field. If you are looking to be able to still retain facial clarity at the farthest distance, the max will be 20-25 ft at the 12mm mark.

    Looking for a wifi PTZ

All the wireless ptz on the market are the same. They are toys

    Looking for a wifi PTZ

The WIFI ptz on the market are for home use, they are not professional level. I've tried one (WIPTZ) from 123-cctv.com. Facial detail is 20ft max. Make sure you have a strong router and you know how to do networking. Don't expect free tech support anywhere to do networking for you.

    need 16 cameras

I am sorry to burst the bubble here but the GS854P are not outdoor cameras. Gadspot says they are, and so do a lot of people selling them on the net. But it is a big fat lie. All the vandal proof domes that look like the snail type and have 36ir, are not weather proof. They have rubber for a so-called seal, but the factories that make them say they are only for indoor use. Sellers in the US are just marking them as IP66 when really they are not. Don't waste your money.

Did you try resetting the OSD to defaults?
