Effio help.. Effio-E, Effio-P, Effio-S...All the same right?
centralalarms replied to Toaster's topic in Security Cameras
Effio and monalisa are two different image processors. Both are fine. Effio-P is really only necessary if you want to control the shutter rate on the camera to do license plate capture. Otherwise just get effio-e. -
IR led's dead, most likely from mid-day & setting sun ... :(
centralalarms replied to Toaster's topic in Security Cameras
Did you check your power adaptor? sometimes if your power adaptor starts losing its juice, your irs become weaker. Otherwise the IR board on the camera needs replacing. -
Empire ESC1 camera 700tvl effio... Any good???
centralalarms replied to Toaster's topic in Security Cameras
Hmm never heard of them. What 2 threads are you referring to? Remember, you get what you pay for. If it's less than $100 for a 700tvl effio-p or effio-e, then its a cheap quality camera. Too many factories in china are copying the true camera, and are cost cutting weather proofing. A true 700tvl effio 72 ir leds camera should not cost less than $150. I've bought some for less than $100 and found them to be cheap chinese cams that are of poor quality. Amazon is filled with them too from companies like videosecu and others. Buyer beware: you get what you pay for. -
Auto tracking outside PTZ dome camera
centralalarms replied to mikeloew1's topic in Security Cameras
dont waste money on an autotracking camera especially if your subject is less than 100ft away. The camera will most likely zoom in too much and you will lose the person when they walk. Like the other posters said, it is a toy and gimmick. Buy more cameras, either ptz or fixed. Need more help, pm me. -
Using indoor camera outside on porch or under cover?
centralalarms replied to Toaster's topic in Security Cameras
The moisture will get in and ruin your camera. There isn't a huge price difference between indoor and outdoor cameras. Are you shipping for something that's $30? then I can understand. Spend the money (65 or more) and get yourself at least a small bullet camera with 1/4" sony ccd. look around these places: amazon.com 123-cctv.com 247securitycameras.com supercircutis.com -
It's a good camera. but why do you want to buy a black and white camera when you can pickup something in color for $200 more.

If you want to be able to see faces very clearly 100ft away then get a camera that has a 50mm lens. Keep in mind, cctv cameras only have a 20-30ft range for facial pick up distance from the point they are focused at. Don't expect to set a camera at a wide angle and see someones face beyond 30ft. I would recommend a system that this place called 123-cctv carries. Their model is SVF450. It is called the 5-50mm Zoom Long Range 4 Camera System 700TVL 200ft IR. I used it in the past for something similar, where a customer wanted some cameras to have a wider angle, and others to be able to see a face 100ft away. I used the same cameras and got the job done without making my life harder than it already is. Its not that expensive either. Just pick up a roll of siamese cable from them rather than the premade cables, and a VGA computer lcd monitor that's 22inch.

Newbie, question about Avalonix systems
centralalarms replied to smcdaniel90's topic in Security Cameras
I purchased this same Avalonix system for one of my installs in Michigan last year and it has worked flawlessly. My customer is really happy with it. -
dahua or qvis 16 channel dvr, anything else??
centralalarms replied to marvelusmarvcus's topic in Digital Video Recorders
If you are an installer and are looking for a distributor of Dahua DVRs other than Qvis, try 123-cctv.com. I bought some from them. You have to ask for it. -
its a crappy dvr
-
Avtech cannot compare with Dahua DVRs. Our company decided to carry only dahua dvrs over av tech because they are easy to use, reliable, and packed with features.

You are better off getting the dvr without a hdd. Merchants on dhgate will not honor any warranties unless you give them repeated business. They just want to make a sale. When that unit is toast get yourself another one. Shipping a dvr back to china will cost you more than a 100 bucks, so think about it before you make your purchase. I know some good local sources to get dahua dvrs.

this is the same as a LTD2316me from LTS. If you have lost your manual ask them for a link and for the software. They have a black version of this unit.
