Acti IP Dome availability?
optikillusion posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Any Acti resellers or people in the "know" have an idea when the new D and E series domes will be available in the USA? I like the D and E series 71 and 72 domes. They have local recording/storage which is what I really like. I e-mailed Acti but have not gotten a response yet. http://www.acti.com/product/detail/Dome_Camera/d71 http://www.acti.com/product/detail/Dome_Camera/D72 http://www.acti.com/product/detail/Dome_Camera/E72 -
Acti IP Dome availability?

I really wanted to try the 5MP Axis but it is not an outdoor camera and we get a lot of rain and high humidity here. I will post some shots once I get the ACTi installed for comparison. I am surprised the ACTi could not handle the sky in that shot. -

So, I ended up ordering a D71 and a D72. Vendor gave me an ETA of 5 days. We will see... I also picked up a used ACTi KCM-7911 hemispheric dome off of the bay to replace the Mobotix Q24-Day in my driveway. I really want the day/night function that the ACTi provides. I'm sad to see my Mobotix go, it is a great camera with awesome functions. I am still trying to figure out how to keep it. -
axis 2120 and night vision ?
optikillusion replied to pauldb38's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi Paul, From my limited experience it could be a couple things. And Im sure the more knowledgable people can chime in with more. 1. Your camera is not IR capable, the lense does not have a filter on it that can not filter IR. (cant find a manual online right now so I cant do any research) 2. Your IR illuminator does not work in the range that your camera can see. I belive the most common is 850nm light wavelength. Some do 940nm and you should not be able to see a red glow on those LEDs when powered on. Some cameras can not see the 940nm IR illuminators. Find out what your IR illuminator puts out. From what I see online it looks like you can change the lens on the 2100 series. So even if the lense can not filter IR then you could change it out for one that does. -

Acti says the cameras are available. I can not find a reputable seller online that has them though, everyone that lists them has bad re-seller ratings -

Can anyone think of a reason I should purchase the Dahua over the Gadspot? They are both the same price and I am leaning toward the Gadspot. I have seen a review of the Dahua 1.3mp mini dome and I am worried it can not handle the winter sun and shadows. I can not find a review of the Gadspot. I want to replace the 700TV Line CCTV cameras at my front and rear door with one of these. Gadspot GS9214DE 1.3 Megapixels Outdoor Dome IP Camera, 3-9mm http://www.gadspot.com/p-439-gs9214de.aspx Dahua IPC-HDW2100 1.3Megapixel HD Network IR Mini Dome Camera http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hdw2100-195.html Thanks for any advice!

Gadspot vs Dahua 1.3mp

Thank you so much for your awesome replies!!!! Very valid points you all brought up. I too don't like to buy things without seeing reviews. At this price range I am not looking for the support/firmware option but I would like a nice picture and ok to decent performance. Kawboy, you do have a good idea. I suppose I could give back to the community by reviewing the Gadspot. I'll let you all know what option I finally decide on. -

Hi everyone. I have been reading for a long time and really appreciate all of the great info everyone shares. I have been dabbling for a couple of years in CCTV cameras. I'm a Geek and like all things having to do with electronic security measures. Here is a really bad night shot screen capture of a Mobotix Q24 that I have mounted under the eves in the front of my house. The wife does not like the cameras visible so I decided to try the Q24. We use it just to see what's going on outside. I'll post a day shot tomorrow.
