NVR error message - The login return time is up
smcctv posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi I have brought what id thought was a plug n play system. 8 Channel NVR with ONVIF 4MP cameras, plugged them in and on the monitor no images show but get a message stating ip address and underneath says "The login return time is up". Any idea what this means, there is power to the camera. The ip address shows 10.1.1.29. Does this need to be configured to an internal ip address? Thanks Vic -
Using PSS software with a iZeus DVR. Customer has asked me to install audio listening in devices x4. Any recommendations?. Am i right by saying i would need x4 audio in available at the back of the DVR? Thanks Vic

Hi, I have router installed in the hallway. I am unable to run a hard cable from the dvr (in loft) to the ground floor (all walls been plastered along with new carpet). The POE adapters work intermittently, any ideas of any other ways to get good connections without intermittent poe issues? Thanks

Hi, A customer of mine has an existing IZeus DVR and wishes to add on a PA (Public Address) System and also a couple of devices that he can listen in at the staff basically which are based on a different floor to where the manager resides. I have fitted many CCTV systems but not been asked for this until now. Any ideas?? Thanks Vik -
Hi all, Someone has cut a cat 5 cable which i was going to install a Balun and DC2.2 female connector to it. As cable is too short, whats the best way for me to extend the cat 5e cable which is in the loft? Your valuable advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Vic
-
Cool, will try the coupler as i then want to terminate the cat 5 cable on the DVR end to plug a balun and dc2.2 connector as its a analog DVR. Many thanks

URGENT: Sharing Video \ Power from one camera to another
smcctv replied to smcctv's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi All, Many thanks for your replies. As the previous installer had embedded the cables behind the brick work and cemented it. I ended up loosening that brick and managed to get to the existing cabling to connect to the new camera. It was a mission to do but its done now. Yes Tom, i have seen those Mules and will keep it in mind for future issues like this. Pricey piece of kit when alot of my clients want cheapest jobs but the highest specs...lol Thanks guys Vic -
URGENT: Sharing Video \ Power from one camera to another
smcctv posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi all, I am going to do a upgrade tomorrow and need to know if i can extend the power and video going from one camera to another which will be positioned 4 feet away? as the previos camera is faulty and the video\power cable has been embedded behind the wall and sealed. Do i just use a T piece to share the video? what do i use to extend the power. I cannot put a new cable in as its a new build and they have requested that i cannot make hole to the building and want the cheapest option available to them. I am aware its not the best way to fix this, but what the customer wants. Your advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Vic -
Excellent, will have a read on that 4G router.

Hi all, Any recommend any type or brand of 3G router as i am fitting CCTV into a mini car wash who dont have any phone line or internet connection. Would be happy to hear your advice. Regards Vic

Thanks for your replies all. I informed the customer to get the master bt socket moved so its local to the router. This has now been done and guess what, all works a treat Many Thanks Vik

I having completed a 8 camera install, everything working well. The problem i am experiencing is that the BT telephone line is approx 30m away from where the router is. They have a good quality cable coming from Main BT line to a secondary line near the router. The CCTV works fine and works from my laptop when i am connected into the network via 192.xxx.x.x Upon entering the static ip address, i get time out error. The ports are open on the router. Do you think this is because of the distance of the BT signal has to travel? Many Thanks

Hi, The upload speed averages around 1.1kbps which is sufficient. I have gone to canyouseeme.org and the ports are open successfully. Many thanks

Hi all, I have completed a install a my mates shop using Cat 5e cabling to a BNC Balun. Im finding that because the cat 5 copper connection is very thin. It breaks easily when a small amount of pulling pressure is triggered. What is the best method to strengthen the connection? By Soldering it? Thanks Vic

Soldering a Cat 5e cable or not
smcctv replied to smcctv's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Agreed... CCA CAT 5 cable has arrived in the bin. Cat 5e Solid Core cable ordered, obviously alot more dearer but will save me sorting out issues in the long run. If you know of any UK suppliers who sell good quality Cat 5 and Cat 6 solid core cable, please pm me. Really appreciate you comments as im currently going through a big learning curve at present. Soldering a Cat 5e cable or not
smcctv replied to smcctv's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi guys, Thankyou all for your information. Gives me a few thinks to try out now. I was referring to splicing to the Cat 5 cable end and not to the balun. I have been using a single channel balun which screws into the cat 5 cable when i have stripped it back. On this particular occasion i have used Cat 5e CCA Cable which i believe is not Solid Core. Many Thanks Vic -
Hi all, I have a DVR on a customer site in the loft space which overheats when stored in a DVR lockable box. When taken out of the box, the DVR stays in its normal operating temperature. Any ideas on how i can keep the unit cool whilst locked in the lockable box? Someone mentioned a USB Fan, is this safe? Thanks Vic

Hi guys, I have a customer where i have installed x3 ip cameras to a NVR unit. All working fine. The question i have is around the port forwarding. He has a setup where the BT fibre router has only one cat 5 connection. This plugs into his Orange brightbox wireless router which has x4 ethernet ports. The CCTV NVR is plugged into this. Do i configure port forwarding at the BT router or Orange router or both? Thanks confused.com

I have port forwarded the Orange router but have had no joy as yet. I will port forward port 80, but my understanding is that port 80 is usually open by default. -
