  1. I gave the power supply a quick check over and it seemed ok. The camera works at night time but it doesn't work during the day (blackout during the day). I assumed that meant it had been sun damaged, and that's why I'm looking for a new one.
  2. Hi all, I currently have this CCTV camera, but I the lens has gone as it slowly started flickering and now it has complete blackout - http://www.surveilzone.com/700tvl-sony-ccd-effio-ir-weatherproof-camera-9-22mm-lens-cc1390 Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could advise me on a similar bullet camera (with the same functionality especially OSD control on the lead, BNC connection, motion detection, night vision) but I'd like one with a wider viewing angle. It is only needed to cover an area of around 10 metres, but the wider the viewing angle the better. If anyone can advise on any bullet CCTV cameras that meet my spec I'd be really grateful. PS - I am in the UK, so I'm sure if this matters with availability of models of CCTV cameras Regards Jp
  3. Hi all, My DVR has suddenly stopped sending me motion alert emails with snapshots in it. It has been working perfectly for a few years. I have tried the following to get it working: - Reset the DVR via the H.264 software and set it all up again - Hard reset by removing the CMOS battery on the motherboard - Tried different SMTP email accounts - Reset the CCTV camera - Reset the LAN router / hub and checked all firewall services and port forwarding services are intact Is there a switch inside the DVR box which controls the recording and / or sending of emails? Each time the CCTV camera detects motion I can hear a single 'clicking' sound inside the DVR box which usually means that it has been triggered to record and send an email. There is a first 'click', and then a second 'click' a few seconds later. It has always made this sound and it used to result in an email being sent to me with snapshot images from the camera attached. Could this be a faulty component inside the DVR box? The software has an option to send a test email with a snapshot. When I send a test email, the email comes through but it has no snapshot images contained. I'm not even sure if this test uses the DVR to send an email because I don't hear the clicking sound from within the DVR. I'm struggling to diagnose where the problems lies: the CCTV camera, the DVR box, the network or email settings. Has anyone had similar problems or can anyone help me diagnose the issue? Are there any parts on the motherboard which control the sending of emails? Many thanks in advance, Jp
  4. That's ok! If you don't ask (properly), you don't get!
  5. Thank you ever so much - it was this that was the problem!!!
  6. Ok thank you - ill give that a try tomorrow and let you know how I get on
  7. Hi thanks for the reply. Sorry I shouldnt have put http:// - I don't use that in my settings. My router is using DHCP already. I've reserved the IP of 192.168.0.11 for my DVR. When you mention setting my DNS in the DVR, is that where it says "preferred DNS" in the DVR settings screen? Thanks in advance.
  8. Hi all, I have had my DVR and CCTV system setup correctly for the past few months; remote access from WAN, sending sensor alert emails correctly via an SMTP email account etc. Now all of a sudden, the email function has stopped working and I cannot figure out why. Everything else is working fine. I am able to access the SMTP email account via the telnet CMD prompt in Windows, so port 25 isn't being blocked by my ISP. The SMTP is standard (it requires a username and password but no SSL / TLS etc). The port is 25, here are the settings that my DVR accepts: SMTP hostname: http://mail.mydomain.com Encryption mechanism: none Port: 25 From address: web@mydomain.com Password: mypass To address: myemail@myemail.com My subscription to the SMTP mail account is still current, it is an SMTP account that we use at work. Here is a screen for my DVR settings: Here are the settings for my sky broadband (I've erased IP addresses for security) Do the settings match up correctly or do I have some of the IP addresses in the DVR settings entered incorrectly? I've tried other email accounts too, such as Gmail SMTP etc and I simply cannot get it to work. I get the error: "Unable to connect to email account" I have tried forwarding port 25 to my DVR in my router settings - but this made no difference. All outbound services are already allowed on my router. All the systems that are in place work just fine, and that's why I think that there may be a problem with my network being able to connect to the email account, but I have no idea what it could be. That's why I have initially posted my broadband settings; so you could see if they match up to the DVR settings up correctly. Does anyone have any ideas at all? Any help will be much appreciated. regards jp
  9. Hi all, I recently set up a single camera to my 4 channel Tossun DVR. I have set up a motion detection email alert which will send a snap shot of the captured movement to my desired email address. The problem is that for every different captured motion event, the image that is sent in the email is always the same. It never changes. For example, my cat crossing the screen is the first event that was captured and the correct image was emailed to me. However, if I walk in front of the camera the same image of my cat will be sent again !!! It's as though it is stuck in a loop. Any ideas of how to fix this? I've rebooted the DVR system but it hasn't fixed the problem. Any help would be great Regards Jp
  10. Very strange - its suddenly started working again!
  11. Thanks for the help. I'll try to pinpoint where the problem is. Happy new year!!
  12. What kind of converter is that then?
  13. The only connection on the tv that looks vaguely similar to the one on the camera is the aerial / RF input
  14. Hi all. I've had my system successfully up and running now for a few weeks - so thank you all very much, your help was awesome. However, I turned off the dvr as it required a reboot due to a change of settings. Now I am seeing "video loss" and no image. The camera is powered up as it has a light to indicate this. Ive tried my camera on different channels 1-4 and still no image. It is pointing towards a faulty video signal cable or faulty dvr box. Does anyone have any ideas how I can test which it is?
  15. Have you considered MOTION DETECTOR availability also, which will save you hours of scanning through to see recorded action, and save space on your hard drive also. Hi - yes I think my DVR and camera support this, luckily!!! I will be getting set up this weekend so hopefully all will go well. No doubt I'll be back here asking about settings etc
