  1. Hi, 1st post so please take it easy with me! A m8 brought his Dedicated Micro's D4 CCTV DVR round last night, reason being it kept giving write errors on the Maxtor 160Gb HD which was factory installed. He bought a 160Gb Seagate HD and asked me to install the preloaded s/w from the original to the new drive to overcome the problem. Dedicated Micro's wanted £300 (UK Pounds) for a replacement 160Gb HD which is pretty extortionate in my opinion. I added both drives to me PC and using windows xp pro I was able to view the original drive contents and copy all info over with file manager to the new drive, however back in the DVR it would not boot up. It got past the bootloader screen but then did not display the drive properties and instead gave an error that the fat system may not be compatible and recommended using 'monitor' to format the drive (whatever this may mean?) I also used windows backup to take a copy of the existing drive as a precaution. I replaced the original drive back in the DVR and the DVR now hangs on the Installing Bootloader screen. The original drive was formatted fat32 and I formatted the replacement the same. I can only assume that when I created the backup in xp this has written data to the original disc that is now making it not compatible with the DVR? Ii have also tried to make a backup and clone with Norton Ghost, but it won't work as it informs me that the HD is too fragmented? Could anyone kindly offer any advice to help me out of this hole, as I may have cost my m8 £300UKP in my efforts to help him? I've checked through Dedicated Micro's site and it offers no help at all. Many thanks
