Help! Trying to send DVR Video out over UTP 600'!?!? Balun?
PaulsonLaw replied to PaulsonLaw's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Lol, Yes those are the baluns. I know they're cheap as hell, but they've worked out on the cameras so far... Would you recommend some baluns? Passive or Active? I want the best here.... for the money As for the midpoint, that is our structure, I would love to put a 'T" on so I can watch both side on 2 monitors... If proper baluns do work out w/ just a splice at the midpoint, & I decided to add the T, would I need matching baluns on both sides of the Ts? -

HDMI and Remote Control Extender
PaulsonLaw replied to erickol's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I bought an RCA + IR over cat5, for $60 and worked well. Changed tv to HD so now using same converter w/ a 25' bluerigger hmdi running along side, HMDI so much better on a Zmodo! I bought a HMDI + IR over cat5, will be in tuesday for the unit next door. Paid $25, will see how it works, will post. Bought both on amazon... An IR extender work on about anything. It is just a small 1/4" receiver, boosted over cat5 & then up to a little 1/4" transmitter. I cannot see it not working on any CCTV DVR. You tape the transmitter on the DVR where the IR sensor is. stick receiver below monitor to catch you remote control, real easy... -

FIght Fight Fight FIght! Come on you guys..... OP, what is a strope? What cable goes to your TV, what type & size is your TV? A Zmodo is not "HD" but the systems I've messed with all have clear images..... PM me OP if need be.... Funny stuff Rory lol -
MIXED SIGNALS ON 1 CHANNEL FROM ALL 8 CHANNELS
PaulsonLaw replied to paul1967's topic in General Digital Discussion
As that is the most $$$ camera in the set-up, could it be that it is putting out to strong of a signal for the DVR card? Could one reduce the signal? -

nice inline surger btw! Sounds like you cooked those channels... The good new is you can buy a newer DVR w/out a HD on the cheap. EXP is a Zmodo & Provantage has a 16ch system, no HD, for $220usd. Also, see my post, "GFI that DVR" as I just had a pole get hit the other day & all is well.... Good luck.... -
Problems Viewing Home DVR system on Iphone....
PaulsonLaw replied to fooyukvoon's topic in General Digital Discussion
try the "ip cam viewer pro" app, I use it on a droid but it has at least 100 dvr brands in it.... make sure you have the mobile port forwarded properly -
well yeah, but you know home owners go the cheap route sometimes

Bad lightning this morning, laying in bed & CRACK! the power didn't go down, but checked the laptop & the whole Zmodo was down! Went up the the main house & all was dead, opened the panel & the GFI was tripped. Flipped it & everything powered back up, all cams functioning fine... Come daylight can clearly see the paint missing on-top of the pole closest in line to the system. Each pole runs 120 underground to the connection box..... Point is, ALWAYS USE A GFI! It can save a ton of headache & money & worth the $40 bucks.

PaulsonLaw replied to newguy123's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
^^^ This, my analog system only recommends up to 180' on coax, 300-400' UTP cat5, 1200' SSTP cat5. Careful on an amp, dont cook the dvr -

Dont forget the IR over cat5 so the remote can work as well.... -
200 meters on 12dc?! That like Doc Brown needing 1.21 gigawatts! I would say either run 120 out to the locations or go with 24vac... & swap back at the end line....
-
I only a noob as well... Just one thing to mention, the news had a cctv video on a home in Columbus. In 10 minutes they stole a van load! In the end, the house was a 2 story & both front cams were to high to catch a face, they had hoods on but 5' lower & they would have had them... Something to keep in mind.... Dont forget a IR/Video over cat5 so you can stash the cctv dvr in a remote location, well worth $60... Good Luck

fixing cameras to corrugated sheet building?
PaulsonLaw replied to crow's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Are you just running bullet cams and 1 dome still? Those bullets just get some self taps & put them to the metal with some caulking... Are you using security cam boxes? -
Dont forget the pull lube! WELL WORTH IT!

True, never thought about the detail of a fisheye, 2x the data on the same channel would have to mean 1/2 the detail..... I agree, 8 cams would set you fine there... Have you bought a system yet?
