    Balun haters gonna hate...

You all are really gtting into the price war lol.... Ok, so if they are not baluns & just connecters, then what is wrong w/ that? They work fine @ 4 cams on 1 cat5 at near 400'..... So why use a balun? Home depot has cat5 for 189!!!! GEEZ, I paid less for 1000' of TC-L2 cat5!
  2. So can a worm, virus, wtvr get into a non pc based dvr like a Zmodo?

I picked these, 10 pair, up for 30 on Amazon, 1 bnc was kinda loose, on power had plasit from the mold stuck in the terminals... But outside of that, all very nice & worked great
  5. Also as to #2.,... If crap can get into an open port to the DVR corrupting it, is it better to have a unique port # instead of the 80 8080 9000 & so on?

    An idiot's woes!

Well, if you're going w/ 4 screens for 4 channels.... You could put a 1-to-2 RCA splitter at the cams bnc input at the dvr..... using rca to bnc adapter.... SO then, if signal is good, you have a live split going to each monitor... As you're buying 4 screens, just buy 5 so you have one to hook up to the vga for controlling.... Just a thought from another idiot

    Does this look normal? (PICTURES)

I was hesitant to do this even though it has came to my mind several times. I might just check with the tape measure in the morning. I think it will work out...
  8. I figure the best route after hours on end of research here.... I figure I'll gut get a tablet to keep running on the nightstand, the dvr wll work w/ any 3g including driod, so for 100 bucks, it'll work i guess....
  9. Now I just got my system online this week.... I have a 385 run of "tough cable" the cat 5 TC-L2... This run has 4 bullet cams each on a pair, no splices all the way to the dvr & I have no problem at all.... The company tech claimed they can run 1200' on the TC-L2.... So there are options over the UTP cat5 300' limit....

    Does this look normal? (PICTURES)

Based on the pics... It looks as if you could cut a, say 10", hole in the soffit matching the diameter of the PTZ. Then, with a section of soffit removed beside the whole, you could toss in a 1x4 flush to the roff deck & mount the cam to that... then put back the section beside it.... It looks like just an inch or so of the housing would show.... Only a tape measure can tell Good Luck
  11. Im sorry, I wouldnt know anything about that. lol, just saw your location. So! Phase one is locked down & done! I cannot THANK ALL OF YOU ON HERE FOR THE PERSONAL HELP ENOUGH!!! Will post a link to the pics in here today...
  12. I need another power supply for 3 bullet ir cams, 1@ 10', 2 @ 75'... Figure I could use a 12v 3.2a Wii power adapter I have.. Thanks!
  13. Ok, got um up.... 1 of them took 10minutes to fire up? Could that have been the cold as it was 10degrees last night.../?
  14. Sorry all, I'm a noob here with this.... The Zmodo DVR Hardware V DM-83 Software V3.0-20110901 It is a 16ch DVR.... I have everything hooked up for remote viewing, works fine on PC's, via lan & wan but cannot view on macbook via chrome or firefox & cannot view on Wii via Opera... So, I am trying to see if there's a way to access by hosting where it is streaming from the host, therefore avoiding the Activex control required to log in, which only works on PC's..... I have tried the IE tab for chrome & still no luck.....
  15. Well, the dvr needs an activex control.... so only IE will run it... installing a crossover IE as we speak... Tried Chrome w/ no luck as well....
  16. Well, it's not copper, but it's braided & 3.7a so..... Update in the morning...
  17. I had a 1000ma 15.9v hooked up, but it wont run more than 1 cam... Not enough room in the junction box for 3 adapters... Will try the wii... The pole on the road has 4 of the same cams running fine on a factory supplied 3a supply. WHAT DOES "Switchable" mean on the factory adapter? I googled but nothing....
  18. Hey all.. Half way in, I have a yellow RCA cord from the bnc video out on the dvr to the tv. Works great, until I plug the cable coax onto the tv, then the cams input is all out-of-wack! Take off the cables coax & all is fine again???? Tried on 2 analog tv's, ANYTHING!?!?!?!?! Thanks in advance! ***** FIXED ***** So after trying cables and all else, decided to check tv cable ground @ splitter, there was none, nor was there any on the whole system! Added a quick ground, problem solved! Thanks All!
  19. Thanks, have a bnc adapter from RS, will try a new cord in the morning... Thanks, will post the results
  20. It was something, GEEZ!!!! Then for wtvr reason the router reset to factory! It's on now, but have learned I cannot view it on a mac But wtvr... Now just to finish the other half...
  21. Ok, I have my dvr plugged to the router.. I can ping the dvr... I forwarded the 2 ports, 9000 & 8080 I gave the dvr ip 192.168.1.123 So I can ping, but cannot type the above ip in my router & get anything, just IE check internet.... I checked the dvr, it has the gateway & everything.... I've been on this for 3hrs, very ticked, any help? Also checked the activeX IE options to promt... Also turned off firewall on router.... Routers a linksys.... ***** Nowhere in hours of research did anything say to put the : port# after the lan ip! Thanks all
  22. No HDMI or VGA up at the house, both 5 years old.... I tried this on 2 tv's, exact same problem....
  23. ah yes, sry, the cable coax is the tv signal....
  24. No, sry... When the dvr out is hooked up the the A/V side input & I connect the cable coax to the coax connection, the dvr signal goes nuts.... So this is when both are hooked up. Not running the dvr to the coax.... Thanks
  25. This goes... From the dvr BNC video out to a A/V RCA cord, then to the side input of the tv. Then when I hook up the cable to it's coax input, the dvr signal becomes all jacked...
