    Heater /Blower kit

I didn't want to high-jack the mini-dome post so here is my question: Does anyone know if I can get a kit for an environmental housing like the one at the top of the index page on the right? I ordered a few without them and in my local area it's just too cold without them. I guess I could use them inside but not much call for inside housing. I can install the blower and heater but the little board is what I'm coming up short on.

I don't think it would be worth the time involved.

    Heater /Blower kit

Its just like the one on the banner just above. The ads rotate, but its on the right side. I need the heater strip blower and the little board that converts the 24 volts to 12volts for the fan. Its what is in any housing. Its not a big deal though. I could use them with dummy cameras. I'm not a big fan of dummy cameras

    Real problem

Yep, I think the DVR is the way to go but there is not an equipment room. All equipment is in the bay it's self. That's how they are able to have easy access. There is an equipment panel. Putting a covert camera inside the panel would get facial recognition. Knowone should be in the panel but his people. I'm thinking a lockbox mounted on the roof, which is flat.

    Hello Everyone!

Welcome scorpion. Don't count on getting in the dealer section to soon. I've got a web site, tools, every kind of permit you can think of and its still not enough. I gave up on it. I don't think its necessary to have access. You can ask about anything you want in any of the many forums that pertain to what you want to discuss. You just can't discuss dealer pricing. I don't think its smart to discuss that with anyone anyway.
  10. I've got a question for you guy's. I had a home owner that was burglarized last week and now wants a video security system. The bad guys ram sacked the place pretty good. The first thing the customer ask me is where would you put the DVR so they won't take it also? Do any of you prefer a hidden place or secure box or should I suggest a false door in a closet?

    Home installation

This guy is in the country with three neighbors that are gone durning the day. He's a sitting duck on smooth water. He doesn't want an alarm, he wants a video system. I guess putting the dvr in a steel box with a decoy vcr with a dummy tape init that has a short clip that says your caught MF'er.

If I could weld the tabs on 16" centers then that would work. I'd lag bolt that baby in so that it would take too long to jack with. My customer said he didn't think they were there very long. 20 minutes at most.

Thanks for the response. You say you got it a Wally World?
  15. I don't think she will be happy until she "see's" who is coming in. Give her what she wants. Even though the alarm system would be less money up front. She probably doesn't want the recurring monthly charge for monitoring.
  16. I couldn't get it to work. ActiveX downloaded but nothing came up. Black screen

    Crimp on or Twist on?

Ken, I'm no expert or pretend to be. Having said that, I have good mechanical abilities. I saw all kinds of crimp and compression type fittings. I personally like the Cable Pro, "Double Bubble" BNC compression fittings. They have them in any type fitting, but I use 90% BNC on RG59. They are specific to which cable you are using, No one fitting fits several. In my opinion these are superior to almost anything out there. They are one piece. When you strip back the covering on the cable and insert it into the fitting the center contactor kind of clicks and snaps. That way you know the center conductor is seated. Then you put the commpression pliers or tool on and it compresses the connector. The inside of the BNC connector is ribbed, so that when its compressed the outside pvc coating on the cable foarms its own seal. As you can see I really like them. They are new. They have a starter install kit. Called DB starter kit. Has the no fault stripper, idiot proof, an assourtment of fittings and the compression tool. I ordered one but have not got it yet. They say they are very hot right now. Sold out. I don't know if I believe that tho. Northern video has them and Windy City Cable has them. Hope this helps. Let me know what you think.

Is it not a good idea to run power and data on a cat5 cable even if its a short distance of 50 feet?

    Crimp on or Twist on?

Securitymonster, the one I liked is the Cable Pro DB, which stands for Double Bubble. One piece. Have you seen this one?

    Samsung SCC C4301

Wonder if anyone has any experience with this camera? It has an eclipse mode that is a reverse negative feature that they use to read license plates. Question is: if you set the camera to the eclipse mode is the image always in the negative mode? Or is this just during low light. Thanks

    Samsung SCC C4301

OK, I got it. It is a BS feature. There is no enhancement at all. Its as good as the original only. I was lead that the negative would not allow the headlights flood (blind) the image. So this tells me that you still need sophisticated filters and infrared to bring out a license. Thanks for all the help/info.
