Does anyone have a good source for VU Balums? I have an install that will need several. Trying to keep the cost down. Thanks.

OK I know I should know this but that's why I'm asking. What is the difference in D1 and cif? I know D1 is better but what exactly is CIF, in relations to resolution. Thanks.

Not knowingly.

One of the reasons I was considering the VU's was from my readings of your posts Levon. I value your opinion. My question was not what, but where, to acquire? Yes, passive.

VisualGate Systems Inc. Has anyone seen this new product?

It has been my experience that any time you change networks and then back again you pick up interference. Or a degradation in picture quality. Slingbox is doing this with there internet TV. It works OK but you can see a difference in picture quality. -
Good place to start Joe. There is a huge amount of information here.

Welcome to the forum Mark. Good to have you.

Chris, Nuvico has a customer service line that will answer your question about the hard drive. Some models are different. It would be better to go to the source for that information. If you can't find it, post and I will try to get it for you. I believe its in the manual.

You may need a new software version also, to view. Try downloading the newest software and see if that works.

Installing Bullet Cameras Outdoors
galen replied to FELTONCONSULTING's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
These kids are skate boarding on my clients property. He has to clean up after them every day. He is now remote viewing so he go down and run them off. The cops won't do anything. He is scared that one of the kids will bust their head open and sue. I have now enclosed the cameras in housings and has helped. -

Thats right, and I mounted a bullet on the side of a building that was too low. I raised it 8 feet. The kids got a pole and wacked it. -

I agree with scorpion. But if you really are concerned about the exposed wires then use flex conduit which can be bought in pre-made lengths at Home Depot or Lowe's. This will protect the wires. I usually mount the outside box as close as I can to the camera. This wire is still unprotected. The only coarse you can take with a bullet to protect against everything is mount in a housing. -
Streaming Live Video on a web page
galen replied to adrianpearce's topic in General Digital Discussion
My web designer set my site up with a web server that a lot of HTML wizardly had to be done. It took three days for him to get it configured right. It might of been just him but he got it done. You will need active X or some proprietary software for people to view. There is no such universal viewing platform for IE to use so everyone can view efficiently. Bottom line is some sort of software will need to be on the customers cpu. We are talking live viewing. -
I would think you would want to use a balum hub to cut down on congestion of equipment. Since you mentioned the use of RG59 cable I guess I can assume that these are not IP cameras.

Welcome Silver, Good to have you here. To start off with, there is an enormous amount of reading you can do here. I know it can be boring but you said you want to hold off and learn more. Wise decision. Good luck with your endeavor!

I use to use them but I didn't have very good luck with the cameras. They do fill a need for people that just can't afford better quality stuff. I never got over a year and a half out of them. Just long enough to be out of warranty. I've learned my lesson that my time is worth better equipment and not spending time chasing down problems.

Welcome to the forum. Yes you will have better responses if you post in the camera category.

What do you consider cheap? Most guys on the forum here are professionals in this industry and don't recommend "cheap" cameras because of the problems associated with them, like numerous call backs. You may want to look at KT&C. They are pretty good cameras for the money and are not terribly expensive. If you want an Infrared, look at the S53CNV Good little camera for the money. They can be found retail for around 140~125.

Yes, thats what I would say also, but how far is the camera from the light source? And is the camera looking back into the light? If it is you might try to change where you have it mounted so the light doesn't shine right back into the lens.
