Hi everyone, I am quite new to CCTV and DVR systems and I am interested adding them to my portfolio. On looking around it seems that H264/MPEG4 systems are the hot thing now and Geovision 1240/1480 are among the best in this area. What other good and well supported makes should I have in mind? Being able to view any channel at high resolution and record at all times is something I am interested in. I was recently involved in the networking for such a system and realised how much simultaneous recording and having different people monitor different areas at all times matters to some organisations. /Jack

Does the Geovision 1480 do the recording and viewing at the full 720*576 at 30 fps on all 16 channels simultaneously? Or do some of the settings have to be reduced for that? I suppose that there must be a limit to how many remote viewers can be supported, but if all channels are being recorded at full resolutiona and frame rate, how many viewers can it support? PS. Do any of these cards come in PCI Express versions? They must be hitting the limits of PCI in demanding systems. /Jack
