Contol same PTZ with two DVRs
cctvmann replied to dfiver's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
so after reading this next bit of the thread i gather the new encoder is needed to be connected to the original ptz and setup as that ptz's protocol, ie vcl/pelco/bbv etc. can you confirm 2 things are the ptz's actaul box camera type ptz's with large motors, or dome type ptz's -

can you give a bit more detail in what you want to do, i guess you will be using a seperate dvr maybe hidden away as backup or remote dial in, and the main dvr as the connection when on site. what would be the point of not just hiding the main dvr, is this commercial or domestic. -

as i said in a previous post we have signs all round the property but that doesnt stop scum like this turning up trying to get thru the front door. turns out i got home just in time, to find the idiot trying to nick cable and looking round the bins area the main thing that cheesed me off is the fact he tried to get thru the front door. soon sorted that out the cops have been alerted and they are picking up the cd tomorrow/sunday during the afternoon. thank god the front door was locked as my mum and dad were home if he had gotten in he could have gone thru the whole house. doesnt bear thinking about tbh. -

Pico 2000 alternative software
cctvmann replied to juan.argentina's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
why not install a standalone system like a dm sprite 2 and setup on the internet via the router through an open port, would be better than trying to put a pc together and using software for cctv. a standalone unit that is designed purley for cctv makes a much more reliable and effective system to be honest. -

SETUP QUESTION G3 Lite Keyboard for PTZ Cameras
cctvmann replied to crow's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
the rs485 must be the correct way between cam 1 and cam 2 if its the wrong way wired it will cause loss of movement, also on the camera itself at camera 2 the cam address will need setting at 2 and that wll also need rebooting. the 485 does have power goind thru it a few millamps if memory serves correctly wrong polarity + snd - cnnections will just make it not work no damage will be caused. to reboot the camera just turn the power off to that camera wait 30 seconds then switch back on. where abouts is it you are setting the domes up? -
heres a couple of pictures of my home system 10 cameras ( 2 ptz and 8 statics) recording to a dedicated micros ds2A unit.

SETUP QUESTION G3 Lite Keyboard for PTZ Cameras
cctvmann replied to crow's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
did you change the cctv camera to cam 2 on the pcb in the camera address, as if that is setup as any other cam address it wont work. also check to make sure your plus and minus (+ and -) on the rs485 data connection is the correct way round for camera 2 because if not this will cause camera 2 not to move. what camera is it that your using? oh and one last thing did you rebbot the camera for the address settings to take effect. -
SETUP QUESTION G3 Lite Keyboard for PTZ Cameras
cctvmann replied to crow's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
thats correct if there is no control through the dvr at all then only the keyboard will need setting up, if you require to control the cctv thru the dvr for example over the internet then you would need to setup the dvr t rs485 plus have a cable from the dvr to the keyboard/ptz's -
