Why is CCTV interesting to you?

i started my working life in electrical and then moved to security install and servicing, now my own boss i install for customers of my own, i have a residential system linked to my laptop and mobile iphone so that i can show clients what they can do with the technology, plus it keeps the intruders and burglars / theives at bay and if something does go on then we have the recordings to see whats happened. ps i run a 16 channel dedicated micros sprite 2 with high speed domes ptzs and statics.
  4. id tend to go analogue run on coax and power on cat5 for the simple reasons that iup cctv is only just in its early stages of development and this needs careful consideration when choosing ip over analogue with analogue some of the cctv especially 700tvl is very good quality cctv and this is a better cost to ip. if you run a coax and cat5 you have the best of both worlds because its easy for the future to upgrade to complete ip but while ip is new technology analogur is slightly more stable.

    Power Supply?

when im installing cctv in premises i always try and go for boxed good quality power supplies and try and install psu local to the cameras ie corners and midddles of buildings/lofts so the power run in lv is limited on length.

mate not being funny bt 380/480 is laughable in a professional sense try playing with 700! tvl!

    Interference

I have inch wide bands that move up the screen which is more prominent at night the other two have the interference but not as bad, but if i disconnect the offending camera by switching off the supply to it,then the other two are fine sounds to me like a grounding issue from the problem camera psu try a different power supply

    camera setup help

sorry unfortunately not, its now dark so you wouldn't see anything if I took some now. there isn't much to look at. just 2 black cables, one containing the 2 power wires and one that is just a single copper core. the camera is a dome camera, wall mounted and obviously night vision judging from the IR leds it contains. sounds to me like its a bnc type connection and yes you could plug into the tv on the yellow phono connection using a bnc to male phono converter.
  11. the kbs3 only can be used with the dm sprites or dvrs made by dm to suit the keyboard it cannot be used to move a ptz camera without the sprite/sprite 2

    Pole design ?

metal poles are normall used but just remember there will be wind against it, plus it needs to have a fairly wide base for fixing, lattice towers are the preffered type for me as they can be climbed by the installer if neccasary or cherry picker if location allows, but also there is very little wind that pushes against it. minimum height id go is 6m but i prefer 8 depending again on the site etc.

    Too many cameras?

if you think 4-5 cameras is lot try 10 cameras i have dedicated micros ds2 dvr, keyboard joystick plus internet connection plus 4 speed dome high speed type mini domes
  17. what about catenary at the highest point for each building
  18. i have the same domes setup that way with alarm detection as well. and the grouping setup works after any alarm activations have ceased What menu option do you go to to slow down the Pan and Tilt speeds? i have a dedicated micros, dvr so my dome is controlled through the joystick keyboard i dont use the dvr you have i dont think. Preset 95 to get into menu on DOME not DVR then go to DOME CAMERA SETUP then MOTION SETUP then JOG MAX SPEED which will decrease or increase the dome speed from 0 degress per second to 360 degrees per second then go EXIT to save the settings. hope that helps oh and the presets ar saved ion the dome menu itself not the dvr as someone else suggested, the dvr calls to the dome through the rs85 data line which the domes picks up the instruction from the dvr and goes to the required preset.

  20. Yes I have heard of those but I couldn't find any in the UK I will try B7Q next time I'm there but work is scarce at the moment. The closest I found are these at Screwfix but frankly I am not sure it's worth the extra cost or effort. My method is just as good and I can use the metal strip for so many other things too. Thanks for the tip though. another option is brown trunking ???
  21. i have exactly the same mini speed domes (5 off) here at my home, and heres how you set a tour. go into menu of dome / choose DOME CAMERA SETUP / choose MOTION SETUP / choose PARKING ACTION SETUP / go to PARK ACTION and select to change the setting ie HOME,PRESET 1 etc / select GROUP 1 by using the joystick on the controller up till GROUP 1 shows / choose PARK ENABLE - ON not OFF / set your wait time to how ever long you want the dome to wait till it goes to GROUP MODE / (1-99 minutes) go down to BACK and Select that option / next go to GROUP SETUP in MAIN MENU of dome and select to enter this setup mode / down to EDIT GROUP / and select press FOCUS NEAR on keyboard to enter the Action Menu area and then setup num 1 as PRESET 1 with the required time by moving joystick across to select the next part of setup menu. / do this setup process for each ACTION number by using FOCUS NEAR to enter and exit that setup section / once finished make sure arrow is to the left of the screenm outsaide of them menus etc / and press FOCUS FAR on keyboard/joystick then select SAVE at the bottomdown to BACK Then on MAin PAGE EXIT hope that helps.

    MY PTZ camera wont work

have you connected the video cable ie coax to the camra, and also have you connected the rs485 signal cable up too. the rs485 cable should connect to the joystick and the video cable to the dvr or monitor.
