Jumbled picture on distant camera
cctvmann replied to dahomes555's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
i once had a cctv job on at a school which involved pulling 2 x lengths of rg59 from the controls for 2 cameras in another building, i pulled those cables in in one run and the length was approx 280metres, including a catenary and conduit system, not one joint in the cables at all. hard work though. -
any chance of the picture of the ptz itself. would be good to see how big the dome is.

did you have to upgrade the whole lot then you just see what needed doing and quote, i assume if you quoted it dsid they get you to do the install properly or tell you that they wouldnt spend the dollars

Jumbled picture on distant camera
cctvmann replied to dahomes555's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
firstly i had a similar fault at a local school to me, and found out the cable was chorting somewhere, have you tried checking with a multi meter on buzzer range that the cable is clear and there are no problems with the cable itself? secondly, if the cable is ok, and the resistance isnt over high maybe through a bad joint somwhere (could you splice/solder the ends and heat shrink them together therefore getting the joint out of the equation. have you put a osciloscope onto the dvr end of the coax and measured its voltage peak to peak.? -
i would say you would need a seperate joystick controller

im still having trouble understanding why you needed to take a camera to bits only to find out it can work in night mode via settings in the cam menu. seems a bit pointless destroying a camera and spending money as a waste. but hey ho your curiosity i guess!

Video Distortion Because of Power Supply
cctvmann replied to Hamid's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
your probably experiencing ground loop where the earth path to dvr and the current flowing from the cameras negative is on the screen of the coax. thus creating a earth path to dvr. if it is an earthed type psu ie metal boxed type, is there any way of you temporary disconnecting the earth to confirm this. dont leave the earth disconnected only for testing purposes. -
cat6 1000ft 2 cameras??
cctvmann replied to streethacker's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
id assume that would be for each pair, with power supplied locally. i personally over that sort of distance wouldnt run power through the cat 5/6 -
heres another suggestion why no install a camera tower say 4/5 meter on the ground over where the boat trailer is say behind that. that would look better than drilling your brick work, place a speed dome on that tower and you have the best of both world, especially if you painted the tower black so it didnt stand out. something similar to this maybe? obvously in your area of residence tho http://www.bromsgrovecctv.co.uk/acatalog/WT-FMT4.jpg this is a company in the uk cause that where i live but where ever you live you should get a tower from a local supplier to you.

anyone any experience with this brand?
cctvmann replied to cloudy's topic in Digital Video Recorders
if they pulled the cables out while burgling the property, then no images would be displayed anyway. -
in fairness to plusnet im with them and ive been really happy, havent been charged over extraordinary amounts, just my agreed amount per month. i have my any time phone line with them aswell as a static ip which was a one off payment of 5 £ the router is probably bit carp tbh, as i use netgear ie my own bought router not theirs. that said i dont suppose you can get into the routers menu can you, could you also pm! me the dvrs ip address and port number, also the model of the router model name/number etc. then i can look into where your router is being blocked to allow the dvr access if you want me to. regards colin.

How many camera's do you have installed on your property
cctvmann replied to hey_moe's topic in Security Cameras
we have 10 in total. 4 statics on front plus a ptz, ptz on back/side entry, static on side gate, 3 statics on back of property over looking garden and decking/sheds area. dedicated micros for dvr, and remote connection online on static ip address. -
1. In temperate climates, the moisture and condensation is not a problem.2. Heat can be a serious problem in warmer locations. It is then a good idea to use enclosures with separate shrouds to take the direct sunlight off the body of the enclosure. 3. Not all indoor box cameras are suited to outdoor installations. Check the manufacturer's recommended maximum and minimum operating temperates before purchase. Even with an enclosure, you may still have to be conscious of extreme heat but not so much extreme cold because the better enclosures can come with heaters. 4. Obviously all box cameras must be placed in housings when installed outdoors. Box cameras have zero weatherproofing. i wondered why the one on the house seemed to die quite quickly JOKE by the way!!

im not sure i understand what you mean, because you say outdoor cameras that implies they already have a housing and you need to know if they need a second housing in that ppoint then no they would already be in one. but if you mean indoor type box camera and lens and placing outside then they will need a heated housing to stop moisture and condensation building up.
