    Video over cat5e

You will have NO interference rejection which would normally be derived from the common mode rejection imparted by twisted pairs

    Night cameras exposed by LEDS

Boogie maybe you should edit your post and instead of saying "silly manner" change it to- " conceited, unknowledgable, hasty, ill thought and non -productive manner" Besides focusing on the wrong area of his problem , the OP is focusing on the wrong part of Boogies reply. Quite honestly I'm surprised at Larry's lack of support to a long time contributor over such a petty grievence. Goes to show that Political Correctness is alive & well. "Passive aggressive" - laughed my arse off.
  6. You cannot split your signal pairs. Orange / orange white for one balun Green / green white for the other balun
  7. Fault Finding 101 - take UPS out of circuit , disconnect/swap cables & cameras etc

    Night cameras exposed by LEDS

I cant see how Boogie has been abusive or insulting. Boogieman is a very knowledgable member of this forum giving up his time to help you. You need to do more listening and less talking. As has been indicated you are concentrating on the wrong point. The chances of you getting any footage of legal quality at night time is about 20% and LOTS of dollars. Forget about the visible IR and worry about all the important things
  9. Wireless is a mistake and should only be considered if there is no other option.

    No CCTV image

    There is your answer

    No CCTV image

Go into the "system" menu & see if a Hard drive is recognised as being connected

    No CCTV image

The only thing in your DVR that could cause a "strange" noise would be the hard drive. I would say its toast.

    Protection of my castle

Wow! a new member with 3 posts and a clear expectation that when I ask a question I expect an answer. I didn't answer because you already had your mind set on what you wanted for 90% of your install. I wont be answering any future posts either.

    need help power supply

As long as the power supply is rated at about 2A or more you shouldn't have any problems.
  17. Whoever ran the O/F should have done an end-end test and supplied you with the results. Are there any joins in the fibre?

    A newbie question

Does he also insist you use a left-handed screwdriver for one & a right-handed screwdriver for the other.
  19. I find it amusing that people have so much concern about the DVR being stolen. Why isn't a bit more effort put into the first line of defence which is entry to the premises. To concede that entry will take place and then put so much importance in the safety of the DVR seems misguided to me. It only takes a hoodie & sunglasses to make most cctv footage useless. Spend more effort on securing the premises and a quality security system that lights up the area/premises so as to encourage them to leave.
  20. Looks to me to be nothing more than dirt on the lens or dome cover

    CCTV HD BNC Cable

What you had were standard analogue "crappy cables" and now you have HD analogue "crappy cables" Give your existing ones a try - they may work ok. The cables you have are not coax they are simply shielded audio cables.

Need help finding replacement camera board

Why would you bother. With the price of analogue cameras as they are just bin it & buy replacements
  23. I think you should have a careful look at your BNC terminating techniques
  24. Thats correct & no polarity to worry about
  25. One more thing - A TVI signal (QAM modulation) will not display directly on a composite monitor , it needs to be demodulated (by the dvr) before being displayed. TVI cameras will normally have a pair of leads which . when shorted, will switch the video to composite for setting up purposes and will cause the video output to be composite whilever the leads are joined
