I have an old (15 years?) analog B/W finger camera rated at 0.1 LUX. that does poorly with IR lighting with distance. At close range, 10-15 IR looks bright, with anything farther it's quite dim even with lots of additional IR lighting. Will removing the filter from the CCD improve IR capture?

Would anyone know what lens mount is on these cheapy IP cameras? Is there just a board camera in these? I would like to know if I can change the lens easily before getting one. One of these in there?
-
Please educate me why this is considered a toy?
-
I have not purchased one, I want to know what's in it before hand and what is readily available in lenses so I know I can change it for my app. Surely I can't be the only one that modifies OEM stuff here.
-
PM the answers if your embarrassed that you own one of these.
-
I only need to be able to see if objects are in the scene. Need a stronger lens because of the distance. This is just a short term use.

I'm a bit confused what C and CS mounts mean. Is it flange focal distance or thread or no thread difference? I have two different cameras that the manuals says they are CS mounts I swap the threaded lens (no rings) and neither camera will focus. It seems these should be fully interchangeable. I also want to buy some auto iris lenses, but it's not clear what mount I need. The manuals say CS and the camera body is threaded.

It says it's a 2F with AGC on. I don't know if AGC is on. It does have a place to plug in an auto iris but the varifocal lens isn't capable of that. Would an auto iris solve this, I found one that is F1.4. Or do I just need a F1.4 lens? I don't know what camera is it, it just says hi res on the side. It's a 600TVL.

What are some brand names of analog CCD's that have good picture quality that is priced lower to midrange?
-
I have two other 600TVL camera's that don't show artifacts when the TV is on 16:9, they are B/W though.

"digitization and compression", hmm, so what I'm monitoring the cameras from are more important? I'm using an HDTV or capture card, they both look kinda similar to the demo shots (thanks for the shots). The HDTV is reporting 480i (704x480) for incoming (RCA input) and the camera is 811x508 (600TVL). I have a conflict in resolutions causing distortion? I also noticed that I get less pixcel blocking with more light.

I'm having a real hard time shopping for cameras, everyone claims "high quality" and specs don't seem to mean a thing. I realize that the lens and sensor is the most important part, but there is never any specs on these. Higher prices doesn't always mean higher quality. So asking end users is the only way to tell. Do you have any demo shots of the Monalisa cams? Like straight object 10 feet away? I'm concerned with pixcelating (straight lines looking blocky).

DVR advice. Recording CANNABIS plantation Q

Another drawback to PIR's is they sense heat differentials (and motion) to trigger, if your scene is well heated, this lowers the sensitivity and detection distance. But if 15-20 feet is adequate trigger distance, PIR's would be fine. Banks of Li-po's cells are light, small and generally have high mA capacities. (like hobby packs for RC helicopters) Since you are only interested in daytime action, use a photocell to turn off the system at night for battery longevity. -
Check out radar detector forums, they seem to be big on recording as they drive.

Something to consider is gardeners sometimes use surveillance system/alarms to keep an eye on their crop. Why are you not just using a trailcam for the plot area? Some trailcams can take videos as well. There are also DIY trailcams, you can customize for unit size and higher resolutions, etc. Since PIR's with trailcams are relatively short range, consider IR beams for triggers. Some have a 300-500 foot range and use 23mah. -
I'm having a hard time finding a capture card that's analog, high resolution 640+ and runs on win7 64 bit. I find digital capture cards but it's not clear of analog cameras will work on these. Will they? I'm looking to only upgrade my capture card with my pre-existing CCTV system.

High res capture card win7 64
Mavrik replied to Mavrik's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Yes I noticed the T, but is it FULLY compatible with win7 64? Aver claims the NV3000, NV5000 and NV5000T are ALL win7 64 compatible, but NV3000, NV5000 run slow or don't work, so how are these win7 compatible? What makes Aver claim on the NV5000T any different? Any item should run to FULL capacity on claimed OS per manufacture specs, not run slow. For a big company like Aver in the above examples to have this issue, how does one purchase products with confidence? -

Strangely, at the computer store where I bought the win7 64, XP cost MORE. Even on flebay it's at $100 for an "open" box. (sounds to me it's being passed around) But really, capture cards is the only thing I've had issues with, which bounces right back to manufacture claims on which OS it really runs on. -

That is why I said "I thought" D1... How do I change win7 install to load 32 bit? I have the 64 bit CD. I would love to drop it to 32 bit, as long as I don't have to buy another OS. -

Thank you, are you running the NV5000T in win7 64? What gets me is Aver say the NV5000 runs in win7 64, but end users say it doesn't. Here is the product manual, system requirements page 9 http://www.averusa.com/surveillance/download/manual/NVseries_Manual_EN_v7.7SP3.pdf -
High res capture card win7 64

I was just talking to owners of the NV3000 and NV5000 and they said that even though Avermedia has win7 drivers, it doesn't run on win7. This is the BS I keep running into, manufactures claim win7 drivers work for their product, but in fact they don't, especially, 64 bit. I have a couple of Osprey capture cards that have "win7 64 drivers" but it bogs my system down, (3Ghz, quad core, 4GB RAM) classic sign of incompatibility. So how am I suppose to shop for a capture card when even the manufactures doesn't tell the truth? Well, I have to ask you guys what actually works. BTW; I thought D1 meant 720x480, 30 FPS -
Fiona, there is a nifty feature that allows you to block members from your view, try that. I feel sorry for harley1, instead of answers, ended up getting a rant thread. I want to see if harley1 came up with some solutions. For a reminder; video noise, false triggers and heat.

Here I thought we were trying to solve harley1 issues.

High res capture card win7 64
Mavrik replied to Mavrik's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
It's harder than you think, I've looked though a hundred cards already, they are either low res 640< /frame rate or not win7 64 or $500+. Could you call out some model numbers of cards that are D1, win7 64, under $200? -
Interesting, spend $3500 on an Igloo Dome to save a $100 camera.
