^^ True, Thank you. Ill have to think about that one before I do it.... Maybe some black laminated paper, wouldn't rly cook the housing because it wouldn't be attached except for the sides, there would be like a 1" gap between it and the housing... Heck, I don't know. Our weather is CRAZY. Last month, All in one day it... Morning dry, then rained, then sleeted, then snowed, then melted, then rained, and then was sunny.... Yes.. I kid you not. So yeah thats our damn weather here.... in middle america. Who knows. Maybe I'll move it to the other side of the house for the summer. Or just leave it alone and not touch it.... The Camera will be located at #1, the corner over looking the front yard/area. Maybe, Thats the plan anyways, I'm going to test it out at a bunch of difference places to see exactly where I like it. -

Okay Thanks. Yeah I don't want wasps. I battled them last year when I bought my house.... went through 6 cans and destroyed about 20 nests. -

Well! Everything is here! Woohoo! lol... I'm at work and had the fiance' bring it to me. Working a 24hr shift, I get off at 7am. Anyway, Not sure if I can get right to it tomm, I gotta go buy a Hard drive because I opted to install it myself. And in the morning a big amount of work has been planned to cut some very large tree's down in my yard and clear a tree line. But, I look forward this weekend to getting this stuff out and playing with it! Thanks again! Everything looks good! The Housing really isnt as bad as I thought it would be as far as being a huge noticable thing sticking out like a sore thumb. I still think people will miss it... I might paint it flat black to help prevent my historical society from saying it looks \ "out of place" but we'll see. Also, The Box camera is about half the size of the enclosure, possibly a market for smaller enclosures. But, I do look forward to trying it out. Question: If the enclosure is sealed, how will the fan help anything in the summer? Do I leave it open for air flow? or is it not really sealed... Just seems to be. Anyway, happy. Once I get this going I need to order some more cameras! -
What height to hang cameras? Light hanging suggestions too.

I thought I had replied to this thread, But If it's like a gas station If possible it would be better to have the camera inside, on the other side and zoomed in on the entrance. If it's a wide angle I would still place inside, pointed towards the door... -

Yeah I had planned on having the DVR on it's own battery back up, and the Cameras on their own battery back up as well. UPS is suppose to drop the package off tonight.... He drove by twice! I hope he didn't miss me! I was outside waving my arms! lol -

Continue to wait.... I'll ask a mod to clean up the last few posts if it'll be that way. Edit: Thx soundy. Yeah the lock smith didnt use two hair pins.... you know why? He has tools and is a pro... I'm not buying the tools.. It's not legal to own them without having a lock smith license. the video had a link in it for learning how to bend two hair pins into usable picks When did I say that? I learned how to pick that style lock, and since then, every same style lock I've tried it's worked.... All locks (So far) that I've tried that have a Key hole, and that loop at the top.... I won't be linking the video, or researching or discussing it further. Considering this is my thread about designing my system I'll stop the discussion on the lock picking now. Thx -

search how to pick a master lock. All the key ones are pretty much the same. I tried it on 3 other diff types of key locks and it worked within 30sec on all... Yeah, Afterwards I felt differently about the locks. PS: the one you linked a picture, its just as easy. Crazy -

I can unlock those with two hair pins in 20 seconds..... Learned from watching a youtube video when I lost a key for one. Since then, I've never bothered with them.... -
Just my 2cents, And im a newbie too, I'm just going to add a few things untill the Guru's start suggesting better ideas. Sounds like your best bet is to record him doing something that would give the Landlord No choice at all as for making him move, or kicked out. So, I would say a somewhat hidden form of cameras is what you're looking for. You would be surprised how people miss CCTV cameras. Forgive me for not knowing which construction/design you have. But if you happen to have Eaves, that would be perfect. If not, still ok. I would think an 8 Ch D1 DVR and some domes are your best bet. (of course I'll let the gurus tell you best ) If you have an HDMI tv, then the HDMI dvr would be my choice. Qvis Apollo HD 8 If you don't, then the Non HDMI is a lil cheaper. But, the HDMI one I linked has extra features so I'd get it anyway. I bought their 16CH HDMI DVR at about $380 Some Simple Domes with IR.... (These would have to be mounted on the outside) 650tvl with IR and features. $65 a piece. http://www.gadspot.com/p-262-gs4006cf.aspx If you really only need 4 cameras. The you could get a Better 4Ch DVR and 4 GOOD cameras and wiring and stay within your budget. I just wasn't sure how many cameras you wanted or needed. Remember, I'd put one inside say in your living room pointed at the front door so if the guy decides to go bizzerk you have him inside your house on tape. If you want to keep the cameras Inside, and mount some IR lights outside, you could do that too. Though I THINK the video quality would lack looking through a window. Idk. I'm just throwing my ideas out there. Edit: With your budget, is you only wanted one or two cameras you could do an IP system.. I'll just let the vets chime in. The more I look at your drawing. It sounds like a 4CH would be enough for you. Correct? Heres some ideas.... One covering your car. One covering your Shed ( Let it leak over to his deck a lil bit. You'd Hate to not get him on camera on his deck and then him just stand on his deck and throw stuff at your house etc.... IMO ) and one covering your yard. The 4th camera can be inside, on the other side of your house, or doubled up on you yard. Just ideas

Ok thanks, I rly need to get one. The Last owners pre wired the house I just need to talk to my dads friend. Helios Global Security. Owns a franchise or the actual company. So I'll have a good Actual Alarm system this month or next in addition to my cameras. Yeah, I'll have to look into a power supply with battery backup for the cameras. I'd just hate for someone to simply pull the breakers on the outside, and me have wasted my money. Well, Theyd be on the dvr pullin the breakers.... As long as they dont find the dvr. Which, Will be another project in itself. I have abasement, (not finished but stays pretty decent temp all year round being underground. It's got a concret floor and stuff so I think I'm going to house the DVR in the basement hidden behind some cynderblocks I'm going to install in a corner so you can't see the dvr. Hope this wont be an issue with the dvr... I guess there or I could hide it in the main floor.. -

Okay, Question: Power Supply. Am I able to provide Power to the Cameras from the DVR? Because, I want to hook up a Battery Back up to the DVR.... IF someone was to pull the breakers on my house my complete alarm system would render itself useless.... That would absolutely destroy me.... -

Ok, I'll be purchasing the DVR tonight. The better one thanks to the link on Nelly's. http://www.nellyssurplus.com/servlet/the-1560/Qvis-Apollo-HD-16/Detail Look forward to being able to purchase and have a good DVR. I'll also be purchasing a camera, I think Im going to purchase a Box Camera and lens, with enclosure. http://www.nellyssurplus.com/servlet/the-1586/Dahua-ESCBX700-700-TVL/Detail And I'll upgrade when I can, adding more cameras. I might purchase a few Domes for the inside of the house, Front door, Back door and side door. Since, Most important is when they enter the house. Thinking the Ones Shockwave linked, Having the extra features like noise reduction etc.. being 700 tvl and a good price. So, the Box camera will cover the front of the yard. Where #1 is located.... And a screen shot from my old system of that location. 420tvl cif.... Ugh... lol Im going to love this new system!!!! So, Let's all the DVR purchased, and the First Main Camera purchased. I'm going to do a tad bit more research being purchasing the domes shockwave linked. Also, Here are some shots of the Shadows that I am having to work with..... This is just about noon.... 11AM -

I deleted that question about swaping to an IP system. Way way out of my budget for me to even think about. I might as well have a decent analog than a cheap ****ty IP. Continue. Again, thanks for the help thus far guys, I rly appreciate it. Sorry I was ancy at the start. Edit: And wow, ^^ those linked dome cameras have alle the features I'm looking for, Plus the WDR which was important to me. And for Cheaper than the ones I posted! -

Wow, Thank you so much! You just saved me more than $100, about $140. I was also looking at the DVR one step up from that. Difference being, It has Alarm inputs, and PTZ control, More audio input and some other like hdmi output, 16ch playback vs4.... Its an extra $120 ish but I think in the long run worth it. Im realising I may just be spending my intitial amount on a quality dvr for my price. And, Like I said, Slowly upgrading and buying cameras When I can. Thanks also for that link to the camera. (How am I missing all this stuff) I notice, its great for the price as far as being near my "wants" specs. It doesnt however have the WDR... But it's also half the cost... so Maybe it's worth having 2 of those, vs one of the others since I'm just starting out. Thank you so much, As I do more reseach I'll update this post. EDIT: WOAH, the dvr you linked me is comparable to the $550 option I linked above... It has the ptz controls and alarm inputs... So... you actually saved me $275 so far! Its $260 vs the $535 (as long as its the same dahua) -

Thanks, I was just very ancy because I sold my old system and realized I better quickly purchase something. I feel so unprotected for some reason not having cctv again. But Thanks. Yeah, Problem i think is I can't have anything too flashy. I live in a Historical Society District so I'm afraid they would have me remove them ( boxed and enclosed large cameras ) due to cosmetics. Honesstly I was using 420tvl and yeah, they suck, but worked. I might pick up a few of those rly cheap as Temps untill I can get decent cams. I have HUGE shadow issues, So I think the extra $30 for the WDR option is worth it. I think a decent dvr, and cheap ass 420 tvl will have to work for now. Like I said, I was happy with 420tvl because it was 100x better, than Nothing all all. And then each month per say, I could snatch a good decent camera up and slowly build my system. But I guess I just have alot of research to do. Edit: After researching that dvr some more, It really has some Awesome features that is 10x better than what I had. There are a few dissapoints like no alarm input externally, But other things are rly winning me over. And having some confidence in what Im actualy buying over whats on ebay is so nice... -
