New Dahua NVR - 5MP, 240fps of 1080P and 8 PoE ports
Firefighter replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Does anyone know a TV or monitor that can display 2592 x 1944 ? The reason for a 5mp camera is for higher detail when you need to zoom into something. Yes, I understand that, but I seriously must be stupid because I was under the assumption you can't record 5MP inside of 1080P, Since 5MP is a higher resolution ( Correct? ) then recording 1080P doesn't give you the full 5MP. Seriously, I'm sure I'm wrong. I'm just trying to learn, and for some reason I'm being thrown off... Are you saying it's always 1080P, but because it's higher MP when you zoom in, there are the extra pixels allowing for the better detail once you zoom in? -

Sorry I'm confused, But clear me up. It records 5MP, but only displays 1080P? or only records 1080P? Do you have to pull the file from the nvr to a computer to view the 5MP video/image? Thank you very much. That is pretty good, Being able to have 1 or 2 Higher mp cams, then the rest 1080P. -
Missed the swann system at costco This Lorex is coming
Firefighter replied to zikronix's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Link? I am not seeing anything but the Swann cameras, or the D1 packages. The NVR package doesn't show with a search. I am trying to figure out what makes an AvertX worth an extra $1000... it does have alarm inputs and PTZ control... very nice but not THAT nice. Their not selling the NVR kit at this time. Just the Two Camera Pack; is back. -

Thanks! Very helpful. Is anyone else concerned that someone could make off with the whole NVR unit and you'd be SOL? I'm curious, can you hook up two NVRs to single cameras? So that the motion alarm is captured by both of them? Right now we can do that by having the camera upload to a 2nd NAS device via FTP. I think the last page or the one before this was answered when I mentioned "Mirror Recording" Basically, You have an Additional Hard Drive, ( External ) and you hook it up to the nvr. Everything is recorded to Both Hard Drives so you have a back up. Or incase one is stolen. The backup could be in just the next room, Hidden or something. Just an idea. Once a thief see's the wire going into the wall, he's not going to tear the entire wall down tracing that wire... For all they know it's just to a camera.... (Maybe I'm mistaken but that is how I took the "mirror Recording" as. -

I'm not mad. It's state law I would have to work for another Licensed Security Company for a minimum of 5 years before being allowed to file an application with the state to become a cctv installer or anything like that. So I wouldn't be new to the business after 5yrs of experience. Its good, keeps overnight companies from starting up. Continue, didn't mean to drag it off topic. -

I notice the lorex comes with an installed 2TB HD, Did the swann? I also notice in the Night video on the lorex of the light water show, on the left side is a noticable reflection of whats happening on the right side.... Is that caused by the lens? Looks pretty good though. Also notice it has a few features, that IIRC weren't an option on the swann or was it the dahua? •Mirror Hard Drive Recording •Mirror recording requires •Instant e-mail alerts with snap shot attachments of event and web link I Don't see alarm inputs though.... -

Oh I understand, However my market and area is pretty low as far as median income. With my area having a Median Household income of around 29k... You can see why more people go for the cheaper. For me, It was a Side bussiness just like yourself as I'm a ft firefighter. But, it was just a point I thought worth bringing up. -

Firefighter replied to bass1176's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
This brings up another question. For someone like me wanting to own my own CCTV install bussiness one day, is the market going to do what camras did to Photographers? I use to have a Photography business, But with Cheaper better cameras flooding the market anyone and everyone is a photographer. I stopped shooting weddings last year and it blew my mind when on multiple occasions I knew of people doing wedding photography with cell phones, Much less a new person buying one from the store and suddenly their a "professional" The proccess in TN is 5yrs to start a cctv/alarm business. No less than 5yrs will I be alowed to start my own bussiness. Will the cctv market be like the "still camera" market? Will there be a market for someone like me who wants to sell/Install cctv? I'm interested because I really enjoy cctv and all of its aspects. I'm kind of a techy nerd so its "fun" too... I just makes me wonder.... Will I be able to provide my family.... -
2-3 MP Cam with IR ?? for those that don't drive a BMW
Firefighter replied to spadjen's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It sounds like Costco pulled the swanns and will be releasing the same exact cameras but from lorex.... So we'll see. lol at the "BMW" comment. My more reliable bmw I currently drive was bought for $400.00 and now has about 300+ thousand miles. My newer one is ok... It's a 99. I regret selling my 06 Audi A6 absolutely every single day... Anyway, The swanns were just flashed and got 3mp out of them. Hoping the same for lorex. But who knows by the time I have the money It'll be through three different brand names etc... ps bmw also stands for "Brakes My Wallet" My Audi was much more reliable. And nicer and cheaper to maintain than any of my Past cars. ( Hondas, Acuras, Mitsubishi ) -

Ill post some out of swanns nvr http://youtu.be/LQzJG_qFqek http://youtu.be/8oudTFOsSYk I think these are at 15 FPS and on the computer monitor you can make out details of the face. I did go into the camera last night and enable wdr @13 Cameras look pretty good. I'm on shift so I can't use the work computers on Youtube. But I could make out the Fire/Rescue on your shirt on my small Droid Cell phone. I'll check em out on my computer when I get home tomm for better viewing. Off topic: You guys work 24/48? That's what we work. -

You mention buying a Dahua NVR..... Why Not buy the Swann NVR? Why would that be any different than a Dahua NVR. There may be different options in the two NVRs but I'm not sure about them all. -

Any timeline for that update? Just Curious, As always. I'm waiting to see how these "swanns" pan out. It's looking like my best option for value plus Cotsco warranty. Look forward to the update and see it's improvement on the E33. -

Technology has improved, Costco higher end models.
Firefighter replied to bass1176's topic in System Design
Do the CCTV equipment fall under their lifetime no questions warranty? They changed their policy so you can't do that with the TV's and Computers. However, If so, that's the nail on the head. If in a year they are anything but "Like New" then return them... That is the advantage they have over the .com sellers. -

Yeah that right edge is soft on them. I wonder if it's a manufacturing problem. Interested to see q2u cameras and see if their the same. Aside from that, they appear to be really good sharp nice images. -
Why not the Swann's from Costco? Their 1080P (With rumors of being 3MP gated down) and for two are $349 making each $175..... Better MP, Cheaper... Costco warranty.... http://www.costco.com/Swann-1080p-2-Pack-NVR-IP-Bullet-Cameras.product.100039914.html Their rebranded 3MP Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I sample video.

New IP Cam / Costco System
Firefighter replied to newbie2's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Just added 3 more sample/test videos so there are 5 now. In particular, I added some nighttime video clips. To recap: Clips 1 & 2 - recorded late afternoon, with all 4 cameras recording simultaneously. Clips 3, 4, & 5 - only a single camera was connected during the recording. #3 gives you an idea of the scene during the day for comparison to 4 and 5. Camera was just placed outside of my front door for this test, similar view as #1 and 2 but different location. #4 is at night - Street is lit by a streetlight to the right off camera, but otherwise no other lighting on the pathway, plant on the right, lawn, and outside of the house on the left, that is from the camera's IR LEDs. #5 - I decided to turn the front house lights on/off to see what adding visible light does. Resolution is certainly lower at night than day... how does this compare with other cameras? Thanks again to flynreelow for hosting these. I can't view these. the only option chrome gives me is to save link as not target... And non of them will play. Chrome sucks? lol Edit: Tried IE, Didn't work either. Also tried Firefox. Once I do save target as it needs the internet to find the info to play but still can't play after that.... Real Player, Windows Media Player and quick time wont play it. None recognize the file type.... -

Firefighter replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Look forward to the night videos.I can only view on phone until I get off work. Any still shots. I'm assuming the NVR is capturing in 1080p and not able to make advantage of the 3mp res. Wonder if another software would be able to. Not trying to be intrusive but any other videos of other mountedcams would be nice. Wonder how much sharper iIQ is for say an entryway or something. -

2 1080P IR Bullets at Costco for 349
Firefighter replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The NVR package is here: http://www.costco.com/Swann-8-Channel-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-2TB-Hard-Drive-and-4-1080p-IP-Cameras.product.100027599.html After looking over the users manual for the NVR I didn't see it talk about adding in cameras outside it's POE ports (over it's WAN port). This is important to me since some of the future cameras will simply be plugged into POE switches on my LAN. I emailed Swann and asked. They responded VERY fast (within an hour!) which I thought was exceptional. But they said any cameras managed by the NVR must be plugged directly into it's POE ports as stated in the users manual. Well, for me this is a deal breaker unless some really good non-Swann NVR solution is available for these (i.e. BlueIris confirmed, etc.). Anyone have any thoughts on what else to do since on paper these cameras look really good? Woah! You mean if the cameras aren't plugged into their POE Ports, It's Impossible to have the cameras? This is rediculous. I take it their 8 chan system has 8 POE Ports? I would rather not have the poe ports and use a powered switch in the attic or basement..... Q2U: I missed your post with my above reply. Yeah I would assume they didn't understand... Like I said I would rather not have the poe ports and use a powered switch... When you get your system, Please do a FULL review, Lots of pictures and videos. Like above said, For your Cambudds!!!
