  1. I was almost sold on the AXIS P3367-VE for my security needs at my house using the Exacq Software. However, I was just quoted an Avigilion 5MP Dome 1/2.5" Image Sensor with a Kowa 3.5-10mm AI Lens and their Core Software Package for the same price (within $100). Either camera is going to be great during the day, but my main focus is as night under street lighting conditions. Does anyone have any comparisons/experience between the two?
  2. I'm attempting to determine whether I need a 1MP (Axis P1344-E) camera or 3MP (Axis P1346-E) camera for my needs. I need to be able to identify individuals walking by the camera at night about 30 feet away. The lighting around the area is standard street lighting. At what distance does a 1MP camera need to be upgrade to a 2 or 3MP? I'm sure this is a more complex issues with f and lux of the camera, but what about "rule of thumbs". Thanks
  3. I'm not asking for it to be done. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting any one person to do it. I think it would be a good selling point from the manufacturer to show that type of information instead of the end user having to spend $1K's just to find out. An end-user can find plenty of videos of a nicely lit area for the camera, but nothing at night or low light. Probably because it doesn't show their product in the best way which is expected, but it would beneficial if they did.
  4. That would be nice to see a video or image of what the cameras are like. In an ideal situation you would have a site that has camera video and still in different situations. Example Camera 1 - Full Sunlight (10,000 lux) - Overcast (1,000 lux) - Inside Office (500 lux) - Inside Home (50lux) - Moonlight (1 lux) - Typical Moonlight (.25 lux) - darkness (.002 lux)
  5. It would be nice to see a comparison pics of the two cameras at night, but I can't find anything on YouTube or other sites. When you go to the manufacturer's site they only show the image quality under perfect lighting conditions. Unfortunately that is not what I'm looking for. I'm aware that a 5MP cameras are not 5MP a night at night and under dimly lit environments. I did some calculations(width and depth) on the scene that I'm looking to record and the camera and lens that I was quoted. Depending on the camera and it's location (I was quoted 3 cameras for three different locations), I'm getting 95pixels, 85pixels and 75pixels per foot of image. I just need to make sure that I have enough light in those scenes so everything works out.
  6. That is what I am hoping for. Even if they are running down the street at least they will look up. I only need that split second of them be curious to catch them.
  7. Instead of going IR I may go down the the nearest Home Depot/Lowes and see about installing a motion censored floor light that would illuminate the area with enough light to bring it above 1.2 lux and trigger a color image. Maybe not motion censored, but maybe just a floor light that is on throughout the night.
  8. A little duct/electrical tape to cover the glowing red dots and your GTG. With your 850nm, how much light does it give you? I was just considering the AXIS T90A21 since I'm attempting to light up the area to the side of my yard (See image Zoomed). Not the entire area just about 20-30 feet down the road. Do I need anything more than that?
  9. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 3346 is .08 lux where the 3367 is .04. Doesn't less mean more sensitive? If it doesn't work for me I could always add something like the IR Illuniators Axis T90A21 or install a motion triggered florescent floor light to really add some light to the area.
  10. I've decided on two cameras. The Axis P3346-VE and Axis P3367-VE. Now I was looking at the NUUO NVRMini 2, however it does NOT support the P3367-VE. It only supports the P3346-VE (they claim that the P3367-VE is too new and they don't have the SDK for it). So with that said, what have other's used to support their cameras?
  11. I need to add some light to the side of my house. Even better I could invest in something that is more discrete like the AXIS T90A21 I watched the video of the 1602 and I'm just amazed at that quality at night. The Light Finder feature is something that I need to consider for sure. It would be nice if they had the Light Finder technology in a Megapixel camera. Not sure if I want to wait a year or so for that.
  12. @cbodbyl " title="Applause" /> Thank you for the reference to Exacq for their products. The Nuuo NVRmini 2 was going to cost me $1000+. Their appliance is a bit more $$$, however since their software is based on per camera license it's only going to cost me $100 to monitor my cameras and install it on my current computer. Their iPhone app is free and their client app are also free. In regards to the cameras. With your experience with the cameras, did they work really well at night? I'm more interested in their night capturing than anything else.
  13. I called them in regards and the current version does NOT support the P3367-VE. However, their new firmware coming out in March is suppose to support it, but nothing is for sure until it's officially released (what they told me on the phone). Exacq Start NVR is who Axis recommended so I will give them a look as well. I'm NOT setup on Nuuo. As a matter of fact, when I call them for questions, I get hung up on or the person seems pissed that I'm calling. I had a GREAT experience with Axis on the phone and emailed them numerous pictures of what I'm going to be monitoring and they recommended a few different camera. Just their customer service turned me towards them.

Is your POE switch configured for VLAN's? Is it managed? What is the make and model of your switch?
  15. I have roughly 3 areas that I would like to monitor. Area 1 and 2 is roughly 30 feet across where the furthers is about 50 or so.
  16. Was there ever a solution found for the Halo Effect? I'm looking at the Vivo cameras where I will need the IR.
  17. @benf I'm where you were months ago. I'm moving from my analog system to a IP based for better quality. I was happy at first with my analog system, but then once my truck was broken into and then months later my house was tagged the videos doesn't do any good if you can't see their faces. Police told me that it's nice to have video, but without facial features they can't do much. So I'm upgrading and making sure that I can see their face at night.
