I'm Not the MFGR. I work for an integrater, We only use products that we can repair in one stop. The brands mentioned above are capable of that. One stop repairs are the most efficient service that can be provided and make customers happy when their not out a cctv system that has to go back to the MFGR for repair. They are only down the amount of time it takes for us to get there and repair. Also all systems are backed up so in the event of a catastophic failure a out of the box system can be restored to their custom setting by siply transferring files.March does have a ram slot on the main board. I'm not sure I answered your questions correctly. Feel free to post again or PM me.

No you can't buy a new embedded board at a store. We keep them as well as all the other components in our service vans. that way when a tech goes to a site it's a one stop deal. We know when our customers have video related issues before they do and are always happy with the proactive approach we take. No going to the store, fast service, no sending the clients parts out for repair, and minimal down time. All March products carry an advanced replacement warranty. Pretty much the same can be said for Video Insight although it is a pc based solution.

March Networks DVRs are embedded and can be repaired on spot. Just like a pc. You can also set the dvrs up to tell you when something goes wrong or is about to go wrong. thie enables you to proactivly correct issue. Instread of finding them when your looking up an incident. Their software can even tell you if someone bumped or moved a camera out of position or has gone out.

Anyone ever heard of "structured cabling"? J-hooks, d-rings? -
We use the dvrs 4210,3108, and 3204. Work great. You'd need to contact a sales rep if you want to resell. visit their web site for the analitics info. If you just want to buy there is a list of companies on their site so you can get someone local. we are on that list out of PA.

As far as capturing plates, and camera control you'll have almost no problem with anymain stream MFG. However comparing plate in a data base may prove difficult. Only with using it to allow or deny entry. You would need a high speed custom app for that. There is stuff out there for facial recognition and Plate #'s. I am sceptical you'll be able to use these products to do what your asking though. You more than likley lokking at hiring a programmer to build a custom app. I have been down this road it's not cheap and there are a lot of bugs. Why not allow entry with prox cards and use a reader that has an alarm output into you recording device that will get you a snap shot of the individual attempting to gain entry. You could take that as far as a pop-up to show the gaurds the picture real time of the event. If they aren't supposed to gain entry you can use a intercom feature to allow the gaurds and the person trying to get in to communicate and record the conversation along with the video from the event. Anyone else have some Ideas?

This is a link to a bandwidth, and storage/retreival calculator www.yankeewarehouse.net/march_networks_ ... v4_0_1.exe
-
Some dvr's will allow you to dictate the bandwidth used for remote viewing and archive retreival. March Networks is one. These other guys will soon chime in with other brands that have that function as well. GE may also I can't remember.

CCTV / Access Control Integration ???? Need Advise.
jmason replied to kandcorp's topic in General Access Control Discussion
I suprisied at Rory. GE actually has a knock out softwre suite that bunles thier access w/ thier dvrs. Very robust, friendly to design. We deal direct with GE even though we are an integrator. I normally am not a fan of "stand alnoe" GE dvrs, but when inegrated with the software and access it gets 2 thumbs up in my book. just my 2 cents. I saw a video at their headquarters of this dvr running inside a car. They had the Local P.D. blow up the car. This was filmed externally. They pulled the drive and all the imagry was there untill the point that cameras were destroyed in the explosion. You need not beleive me call March and ask them.

You won't have any bandwidth issues period. All securty cameras operate in the same "baseband" Range. An amplifier or active transceiver as sated by others above will over come you distance issues. Most coax cable is swept from the factory up to 1Ghz. Your local cable compant bearly uses that much space on their entire system. You will have no bandwidth issues for the camera you are using or any other for that matter. Hopefully this sheds some light. CCTV transmitts at very low frequencies the lower the frequency the less attenuation you have. You are well below any frequecy that would make "tilt" type attenuation happen. Use an amp or an active transceiver, and all will be well

NEW CCTV setup, Need input on what to buy
jmason replied to silverspl's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
You cant go wrong in your situation with video insight. You'll be well below the $10,000 mark, and probably below the $5000 mark. It will perform all your desired functions and then some. Your a PC guy so it will be easy for you to install. It comes with a very easy to understand manual. Just follow it step by step and you'll be capturing video in no time at all. If your ever away you always log in remotely and check on things too. -
Looking for a POS integrated DVR options for retail chain
jmason replied to SCTECH's topic in General Digital Discussion
March Networks is going to be your best bet. I've alraedy read people in this forum beat up the other DVRS. You need an embedded sytem for a retail environment. We handle several brands of dvr and they all have their place. If you want happy retail clients take my advice. We handle everything from retail, C-stores, Hospitals, to schools. I've not seen everything, but I have seen a lot. -
