  1. Wow shocking indeed. He's personally helped me with some of my issues. He always took his time to help others and will be greatly missed. My prayers with his family in this difficult time. RIP Carl
  2. Hi guys, I am using Milestone Xprotect Go with 6 Hik cameras. Everything seems to be working fine as far as viewing and recording but I can't get it to work on my phone or my house. I've installed the milestone mobile server component and set up everything with the localhost and port 8081 and added mobile server on the management software. I tried putting in my wan ip address in the settings there but it would not validate it so I kept it with the default. It works fine on my LAN but I can't get it to work from anywhere outside the local network. Port 8081 is forwarded on my router correctly to the local ip address of the computer that is using milestone. However, when I go to canyouseeme to see if port 8081 is open, it shows that it is closed. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help!
  3. Both problems are solved. First for some reason on that SMC router I cannot have dmz enabled and ports forwarded. I disabled DMZ and forwarded all ports using port forwarding and all my equipment is working. As for the server issue going offline, I downloaded the newest mobile server available and that solved that issue. So everything is working great and I just wanted to let everyone know problems are resolved and thanks for helping.
  4. I enabled dmz mode for the PC with milestone and port 8081 now shows open and I can see the cameras on my phone and from my house. However, I still don't know why I can't open port 8081 individually... I know I did it right because I have other ports open individually. Now I am having another issue with the server. Even with the DMZ enabled for the PC with milestone, when I log in from my phone or home it connects me for few moments and then disconnects automatically. When I log into the PC with teamviewer the server is stopped and I have to enable it manually. When I try to reconnect, same thing happens. It lets me connect and then disconnects after a few seconds of connection. Anyone know whats going on with that?
  5. Just tried it and still says port 8081 closed.
  6. Could it have anything to do with the switch I am using? I was reading a little bit about this and thought that could be an issue. The switch I am using is Netgear ProSafe Plus JGS524PE-100NAS. Any ideas?
  7. I'll double check but I don't think so. I have the same router at my house and I've got several ports forwarded the same way. Everything in that router is under the port configuration tab and port 8081 is enabled on 10.1.10.14 (LAN with the software).
  8. Its a standard comcast business router, its an SMC (don't know the exact model at the moment).
  9. My Dahua camera is recording to a class 4 sandisk sd card. It works perfectly fine 95% of the time but there are a few dropped frames. I am purchasing an NVR soon to see if the dropped frames issue can be resolved (It could also be b/c my sd card is class 4... maybe a class 10 would eliminate the issue?).
  10. Thats a great night shot. Which camera is it and what kind of NVR are you using?
  11. Great videos David. I installed one of these at my house for testing and the quality is very good considering the price. I'm recording directly on the micro sd slot (32gb) but during playback I noticed there are a lot of dropped frames (its not recording all the motion even though its set to record on the sd card so it can't be a bandwith issue). Do you have any issues with dropped frames? Also, what kind of NVR are you using for 2 cameras. Thanks.
  12. That's an impressive picture from a budget IP camera. Exactly which model is this and how well does it work at night (night shots would certainly help). Thanks.

    Can't connect using DMMultiview

Hi, I've been using DMMultiview on my laptop for over two months and have not had an issue connecting. Yesterday when I was trying to connect from my laptop at home to view my business, I got an error that said unable to connect. I checked my internet connection at home and my business (using logmein) and both worked fine. Then I tried connecting using a different computer in my house and it worked instantly so the issue is something with the laptop that I am using. This was working before but it is not letting me connect now. Any help in resolving this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Can't connect using DMMultiview

I solved the issue by uninstalling McAfee antivirus that was installed on the computer. I figured it had something to do with the firewall settings but I couldn't figure out exactly what it was. Once it was uninstalled, I went back to default settings with windows firewall and the program started working. Tomdlgns sorry to hear about your issue. I'm not much of an expert in the area but if I were you, I would try disabling additional antivirus software you have on your machine except for default windows. It worked for me and maybe it will work you too. Good luck!

router doesn't accept dvr's ip address.

    Double post. Sorry

router doesn't accept dvr's ip address.

Yes, you need to look up which ports need to be forwarded for your dvr. Port 82 as you mentioned should be the http port but there should be at least one (or more) ports which will need to be forwarded. Check your dvr's network properties and all the ports that need to be forwarded should be there. Once you forward those ports from your router, you should be able to access your dvr from WAN (a source outside your local network).

    Issue with installing drivers

Hi guys, I recently installed a GV-800 card on a Dell Precision T5400 workstation. The CPU is a 2.33GHZ intel xeon quad core with 4gb ram 80gb hdd for OS and a 1tb seagate HD for storage. I am running XP professional with SP3 and with all updates. Now when i first installed XP and loaded the drivers for geovision, everything went smoothly and it was working perfectly. When I tried installing a mic, the mic did not work and when I looked in the device manager, the audio drivers for geovision were not installed correctly. I tried installing and reinstalling the drivers but got the same error. I formatted the OS hdd and reinstalled everything and the geovision audio drivers were working fine. Once the computer restarted, had the same issue and it showed there was an error on the geovision audio drivers. Any advice as to what could be causing the issue? Thanks in advance for the help.

    Issue with installing drivers

Not exactly sure, I took it from my closed store and am trying to install it in my new store. This same card was previously installed in dell optiplex 755 and worked perfectly. I'll try installing it in that computer again and see if it works.
  19. Hi guys, I upgraded my system at my business from a 4 channel dvr to a 16 channel geovision 800 system. I also added a microphone which goes to audio 1. Everything works fine including the audio but what I need to do is to be able to hear the sound from the microphone on my speakers all the time. When I click on camera one, I hear the audio but when I switch to any other screen configuration, the sound goes away (it still records on camera 1) but I need to be able to hear it on my speakers that are hooked up to my computer at all times. Could someone please tell me how I could do that. Thanks a bunch in advance!
  20. Hi guys, Sorry for the delay in responding. The issue has been solved as best as it could without additional expense using shocks advice of selecting the channel which the audio records to. In my case, it was channel 1 and it worked fine until you clicked another camera but then I set wave out to audio one and it was working with all 16 channels even when channel 1 wasn't selected. I'm glad I solved the issue and would like to thank all those who gave advice. It was very helpful and much appreciated. You guys are the best!
  21. Hi Tom, When I right click the only audio option i see is "set to wave out." I'm not even sure what that means so if someone could explain it, that would be great. Thanks. What happens when you choose that option? Does another menu come up? That's a routing option for the audio and might help you so try it. What sound card do you have in that pc? You might need to open up the sound card and noodle with the routing options in the mixer section of the sound card. For instance, if you have a stock realteck sound card it has some audio routing options to check out and try- including a 'wave' option which really is just the 'what you hear' sound in the pc. It might be you have that muted in the realtek mixer. It can be found by going into start/control panel/ sounds and audio devices. Or once in the control panel, you might find the realtek icon itself so you can get right into it. But even before you do that, I'd go into the options or settings section for your dvr card and see what audio options you have in there. But routing to wave is probably it. If you choose it and nothing happens, look in the dvr cards audio options if it has any. If not, get into the sound card and make sure the wave volume is all the way up and not muted. Within realtek, there is a mic channel too to check. See if it's muted and check the volume. I'm sure it's probably a routing setting that will get you your audio. I'll play around with the settings a bit when I get to work and let you know if it works... hopefully it does.
  22. Would something like this work? http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103709 Could I plug the male end into the audio port on the dvr card and attach the microphone on one female end and use the other female end for speakers?
  23. Hi Tom, When I right click the only audio option i see is "set to wave out." I'm not even sure what that means so if someone could explain it, that would be great. Thanks.
  24. I can only hear the audio when camera one is showing by itself. When I switch to quad screen or eight channel config with camera one in it, there is no audio. As for highlighting camera one even in a multiple channel configuration, geovision automatically brings camera one to full screen when you single click (you can't just select a camera, single click makes it full screen). Anyone else have any ideas??? I'm sure its possible in geovision and can't be too difficult, I'm just missing something.
  25. The day image of the 511 looks outstanding, the 755 just doesn't have the detail. As for night, obviously the 755 looks better but still not great.
