    Night time shot of cameras

It's the KT&C KPC-VBN190NHWX. They are a pretty decent camera. They do require some light though for night use.
  2. These are my 6 home cameras. The front window and front door are KT&C Bullets. The rest are CNB VCM-24VF Domes. The side gate camera has an infrared illuminator above it.
  3. Anyone actually installed one of these? How did you make the cables look neat?

    New home install

Just recently installed a Dahua ESDV-FULLD1-16 with a couple bullet cameras to get my home CCTV install off the ground. Over all i'm pretty happy with how it's turned out. I used 2 KT&C KPC-VBN190NHWWX 550TVL outdoor bullets. I liked the quality of the pictures I saw and what Rory told me about them. I just ordered another one and also a CNB VCM-24VF dome camera. The company I ordered the bullets from sent them in white accidentally, but they made it right on my next order. I used Cat-5 twisted pair with videosecu baluns. I found the gangboxes at home depot. I'm going to silicone the entry of them up at some point. It's my first home install. Don't bash me too hard. LOL I still need to tidy up some of the cat5. Eventually it will be painted to match the wood it's mounted to. The grey flex conduit you see is for a 220v line that's used for another hobby Anyway, here are some photos. Cameras Floorplan Layout

Wow. Your floor plan is very similar to mine. Having doors and windows covered are important. Those are good hot spots for entry into your home. After you get those covered then you can start placing cameras to cover things that you would also like to see like maybe your yard or driveway. It's important to properly weatherize your cable terminations inside of gang boxes to keep them out of the elements so your install will last forever the first time you do it. I've also got the same brand DVR. Mine is the Dahua ESDV-FULLD1-16. I ran one Cat-5 cable per camera. I've currently only got 4 cameras installed. 6 of the conductors are used for power and the other 2 are left for video signal. Just my thoughts.

Thankfully enough my other hobby sits on the same desk as my computer so I can watch while I enjoy it
  9. Awesome Ron. I wouldn't mind mounting one of those at the edge of my yard for a little fun. Haha.

    New home install

Hey thanks groovy. I appreciate it. It's turned out okay thus far and I think i'm happy with it. These cameras were easy to wire. I wired another one that I had to crawl up into the attic quite a bit. Good thing I have a pair of glow rods.

    New home install

Thanks Soundy. As time goes on I will put up more pics. Here are a couple night shots of it. One shows with just my porch lights on and the other with the motion light on. I'm thinking of putting a little paint around the back sides of the flood lights to help.

    If i get a EYEsurv FULL D1 8 channel....

Can't go wrong with the dome camera that Soundy is recommending. I'm using some bullets that also give a decent quality for the price.

I've been incredibly happy with my Dahua DVR.

    New home install

On second thought. I moved one of them and added a little artificial vegetation to help conceal it. Worked out real well. Good $4 investment.

Sorry soundy. The forum would only let me do 3 at a time. Is there a better pic hosting page?

    PLEASE HELP

Indeed this is true. Also make sure your IP address hasn't changed. You may want to look into a DDNS service.. A good router for DDNS is any router that runs DDWRT.

How to connect printer to Network

Buy a standalone print server for it that way you don't have to keep a computer powered on all the time to be able to print. They can be picked up for a reasonable cost. Thats my preferred way.

    Gunshot detection

This is the mack daddy of gunshot detection.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2022615/Sniper-snooper-Boomerang-tell-Taliban-marksmen-listening-enemy-gunfire.html However.. for CCTV purposes:
  20. I have boxes of cat5 in the garage from my cabling days.. so instead of using the cheap siamese cables that came with a kit i've got i'd like to use cat5 with baluns instead since this would be much cheaper than ordering a spool of siamese 18/2. Given that the 24awg conductors are smaller in size than the 18awg of siamese, how far can I expect to go with cat5 cable on 12v 500ma and 12v 750ma cameras? Given there are 8 conductors in cat5, can I use 3 conductors for + and 3 for - plus the 2 for video? The longest run will probably be around 150ft.

    Installing Motorola UHF Base Station

Being a radio enthusiast, I can give you my opinion. At a run of 50ft, loss won't be too bad. If budget is of no concern I would use Andrews heliax LDF4-50A. For higher frequencies around the uhf spectrum coax becomes more lossy. Connectors will be fairly pricey. All of those items can be purchased from RFparts.com... If you dont want to spend quite so much, I recommend using Times Microwave LMR-400. I've used it a lot for years and its great coax. Not as low loss as the Andrews heliax but still great. Connectors and shipping will also be much less. The connectors will also be easier to install. If you have anymore questions pm me if you want.

    Need suggestion on camera

I don't think it will matter from what I have learned about that particular camera. Those sound like great cameras from what Soundy has said.

What type of security camera is this?

I really like that house. It's nice. I'm used to seeing junk cookie cutter houses in Arizona though. LOL.

    birds eye view

I'm a radio operator and have a 50ft tower at my place. What would be a good PTZ camera that I could throw up there to have a birds eye view of my property? Cost.. i'd like to keep under $600 USD. This would give me a great aerial view of things and it's something i'd like to take advantage of. I have a dvr that was given to me that has ptz control functionality as well.
