Welcome to the forum, I would find a DVR card and software that meets your needs as most have PTZ control built in. Or a standalone DVR that has PTZ controls and remote access capability. I use the hikvision DVR card DS-4008HCI and a software made by a company called JDL. Their software has some PTZ control protocols built-in. I don't know if it will work with those exact domes, but you could email their tech support and ask. They are always very helpful and their software is very good and easy to use. Good Luck, Joe L

I think when it was said the cost is cheaper, it is because you can use different configurations within the network to reduce cabling costs. where with coax you have to make a cable run back to the head end for each and every camera. I cant put my opinion on the debate of which is better IP/Analog because I dont know. But for cabling it appears (theoretically) that it would be easier for IP. Maybe not more cost-effective. But think about it, how many of you guys have spent hours in the attic pulling hundreds of cables sweating your you know what off. A few cat 5 pulls to me makes better sense. Even if your just using baluns and analog. well thats my .02 cents -Joe

Does anyone know how to access the kalatel PTZ menu using vicon system with sennetech code converter? or even if its possible? I have been able to set presets but not able to access the OSD with the PTZ settings, or set patterns. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks, -Joe

I recently had to purchase a code converter for Vicon to Kalatel. Only place i found was Sennetech. Pricey but the converter worked flawlessly. www(dot)sennetech(dot)net hope this helps. ps I cant post hyperlinks for some reason.

Maybe she is referring to the playback through the sanyo PC review software which is very grainy and pixelated. Also to get good playback from the DVR you will have to set the settings at high or super to get a decent image, then you will need to upgrade to a large HDD for the 7 day minimum requirement. Forget about picture quality on the Quad DSR-m814 at any setting. just my opinion. The Sanyo DVR is a great product that is very cost effective, and with a decent size HDD (300GB+) can capture and playback excellent quality video.
