If your cable runs are going to be less than one hundred feet long, I would strongly consider using RG59 instead of CAT5. The cabling and connector costs will be substantially less than CAT5 with baluns. The exception would be if you are using IP cameras in which case you could use POE or just run a separate 18/2 line to each camera.

Wireless IP Cam via cell, satelite, means of transmission?

Do you have a clear line of site from the camera location to the recording location and what is the distance between the two? -
I have not used that type of DVR, however most have a recycle setting that will allow new video to write over the old unwanted video. I was unable to find much information online at http://www.eyemaxdvr.com/scripts/dv9120.asp. If the recycle option does not solve the problem you may have to send an e-mail to them. sales@telpix.com

The hindsite suggestion is to research before purchasing anything from a distributor that you do not know and trust. I have received very quick responses from sales@geovision.com.tw when I have checked on the legitimacy of distributors of competatively priced Geo cards. As far as illegitimate suppliers, the Better Business Bureau accepts business transaction complaints. Ultimately, if it sounds too good to be true....aka Ebay, then it probably is. Do your homework, or avoid the risk altogether.

Has anyone gotten their hands on one of the GV-Standalone DVR's yet?

With Geo's remote viewer, you can change the image sizes 640x480 or 320x240. The smaller image sizes greatly reduces network traffic.

Questions about powering CCTV cameras in vehicle
vf702 replied to Maxima's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
You may wish to consider mouting a second or third battery in the trunk and having the wiring draw off of that power source. You would have to find a way to charge the batteries, but your car would still start when you needed it. -
I think that all of their cards are switching to blue. It may have to do with the RoHS standard.

Does anyone have a good idea of what a used mux would go for? I have four or five Pelco MX4016CDs being underutilized.

You can try to download the Geovision software from their website or fill out the support request form http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/4_4.asp for more help.

Please post Geovision screenshots so we can compare quality.

It would really be nice if someone had access to different types of cameras vewing the same object all run to the same DVR, or a number of the same cameras to run to different DVR's. That way you could really compare and contrast image quality and record quality. -
When we've been remote viewing some from one DVR and some from another, sometimes we have to hit the play button below the video to get it going. I have not experienced that off a single DVR though.
-
Depending on the quality you need, the remote viewer may be a less expensive option. (if you have an extra networked PC in that area)
