  1. First off, HI!! I have been installing and working with all types of cctv and low-voltage systems for 12 years. I have lurked on the forum for help and answers many times in the past but I dont really post much....im gonna change that tho! Sooo, I have a new system that im setting up and would like some recomondations. I have done hundreds of analoge systems but not many IP. sooo here is what i have so far. I am starting off with 10 vivotech or axis outdoor ir ip cams, (5) 1mp, and (5) 3mp. Wiring w/cat-6e using POE. I need to be able to expand up to 32ch in the future. For now I only need HDD space for the 10 cams at high res for around 2 week. But I need to be able to expand HDD space for all 32 cams in the future. I am thinking around 12TB will be good for now?? price is a concern, but I will only settle for doing it the right way. SOOOO my questions are.... (1) What is a reliable, and cost affective NVR option for me? So far I was qouted on an Exacq Technologies 14tb unit...What do you think about that?? (2) Also, I naturaly want to lean towards a NVR with hdd, but I hear of a lot of guys doing the recording in the cloud and selling licences that they recieve "RMR" reocuring monthly revinue on..and that interests me a lot! I like $$ and would like to know if any of you guys are using services like this, what %s you get per month and what kind of cost the customer is looking at for something like that. and if it is a good idea for this system, where should i start to look for this (3) ..idk, its late and iv been doing tooo much research and need sleep...lol ahhh any other suggestions or tips for me? Thanks guys..and lady
  2. I also dont suggest the box type systems. there are cheap cams that can get the job done but you are still looking at around 80$ per on the low end. then add a cheap dvr like a Digimerge, Digital watch dog for 600$ and a power supply and monitor for 200$ and you will have a good system for say...1400... shop around and maybe you can hit ur mark.

Which package is right for me? Looking at Q-see

I personally dont like any of the options u are looking at. I have had very bad experiences with a few customers that bought myq-see..mainly with very slow remote acess.. I had one customer with a swan system and it didnt seem all that bad but still low end.. you could find a cheap 4ch dvr, say a digital watch dog for 3-400, then pick up a few 80$ cams and a power supply and have a Much better system for around 800$.. and DWD arnt bad at all. hope this helps

    Q see camera questions

Pretty sure the answers are No and No...those are kinda cheap cams..they are fixed lens, not replacable or upgradable. and the IR turns on automaticaly when a photo cell senses low light. I dont think i have heard of ir lights atracting bugs tho.. it is invisable light...to humans at least. sry..

    GV-Iview

Sometimes there are bandwidth and frame rate settings on the DVR setup just for mobil viewing options. I would check those settings on the DVR. They may be set to limit.

DVR upgrade for 19 analog cams??

So Hi first off. new to the site, not so new to cctv. I was hoping for some ideas and to see what others think is my best option on a current job. I own a small installations company specializing in audio systems. we also install cctv, communications wiring, pre and existing, sat and cable tv, verizon fios backbone, tvs, theaters, so on and so on... so getting down to it, I have a system with 16 analog cams going to a everfocus ecor 16x. going to add on 3 or so more cams to the system. now we could just daisy chain on another ecor and call it done but I think we should upgrade the whole system. the current harddrive is clickin a lil and the customeer would like a larger HD. also they access the DVR remotly very offton and would like a better remote system. with room to expand and better quality(frame rate) they got plenty of money and the cams are very important to them, but they are still a lil cheap. what does everyone think i should do? move to a pc based system, suggestions on a new better DVR, use current system? thanks in advance for all replies!!
