I want to place an ip camera at the rear of my property and the wireless router is at the front of the property about a distance of around 12M, Would i be better hard wiring the camera or will it work with a wireless antenna ? I can pick up a strong signal from the router on my laptop at the location i would like the camera. Thanks ,Shaun

Thanks for the replies. The make of camera is Tenvis And the software i have chosen is Blue Iris These two are compatible I know how to record using blue iris to the laptops hard drive however im unsure how to get it to record to and external HDD source Any ideas? Thanks, Shaun

Hello, Please be gentle im a completed novice and looking a bit of advice I want to install an IP camera at the rear of my house and want to be able to view it on the laptop and iphone which i know how to do. Now i want to be able to record it to a hard drive. Is this possible to do through the laptop? Or will i need an external DVR ? Any help appreciated Thanks in advance, Shaun
