Any site sponsors selling the DH-IPC-HFW2100N ?
rayt replied to ilkevinli's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
bought 4 cameras, free EMS or DHL express shipping. they charge approximately 10 bucks per camera for regular shipping in smaller quantities. hard to beat that price, considering if one fails, i can afford to buy another one from the savings. -

i bought a ton of these on aliexpress for myself, i pray they come, but i figured that even if i had a 20% failure rate, i can still afford to replace it for the same price i would pay in the us. not that i wouldn't like to support the site sponsors, but these things are made in china anyway by a chinese company, so nothing wrong with buying them direct. -

i am planning to put in a synology ds1812 at home, mainly for home theater, but saw that it was capable of surveillance storage as well, guess i won't really know until i try, since geovision isn't as popular as some of the other bigger brands here. -
Can you have too much light?
rayt replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
i bought 14 raytec raymax fusion 50's pretty cheap, hope i dont have too much light, all 30 degree angle, modified one to 120 degree angle already. Lets see how well these work when i get them up and running. -
Logitech has such a thing, powerline with poe, they use it for their alert system.

I have a geovision camera i am installing, it has Cat6 that can support poe, but i need to use ac24v for the built in heater. I am trying to figure out what is the best option to run both cat6 and ac24v, poe is easy enough for anyone to figure out, but i haven't run both cat6 and ac24v parallel to each other before. i would like some suggestions as to how to do this properly. Thanks.

Vivotek SD8362E - Anyone with experience with them?
rayt posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I know that vivotek products are generally not as well reviewed, but for a ptz, it seems to offer a lot for the buck. Looking to see if anyone has any experience with these, i am looking for 2 1080p HD PTZ's, These are about 40% cheaper then the axis model i have my eyes set on the q6035e. does anyone have any hands on experience with this vivotek SD8362E? does it over advertise its framerate capabilities like the bullet cameras? -
Looking to setup some POE cameras at home i currently have the logitech alert system, for the price paid, it is not bad, but it is lacking some resolution that i want. its 960x720 resolution, and does maybe 15fps at max. 6 cameras in this system. only 4 are used outside, 1 pointed in backyard for backyard coverage, it does ok, but night performance is lacking, and resolution is poor, 3 are pointed in the front, one over my 2 car driveway, one towards the street, and one covering my front entrance, facial recognition is very poor on the cameras. i am looking to cover my house, string of burglaries in the area lately. looking for 2 PTZ cameras, considering the axis q-6035e this will be mounted at the front corners of my house, and will cover the sides of the house and the front area, front of house is well lit, sides of house have very little lighting, might need ir illuminators, but not sure how ptzs work, and whether i can shift from color to b/w while panning the area. acti KCM-5211e for my front door / entrance area, want good facial recognition, not sure if the q-6035s mounted high up are sufficient? front door/porch area is generally well lit by 2x 26w ccfl lights. i also need some sort of coverage for the backyard of my house which has 2 patio doors, i am considering the kcm-5211e as well, but it is dark back there, no light at all nearly. from the looks of it, my current budget is ~9k or so for the cameras, i am hoping that the ptzs would be able to capture some license plates if necessary, any suggestions would be great, i have no worked out on software yet, i prefer to keep the number of cameras down, but still get 360 degree coverage on the house. is there anything i am missing, if there are cheaper cameras that serve my purposes, please do point them out. i am considering the vivotek sd8362e, much cheaper then the axis, but no idea how well those will work.
