rayt replied to lamsao's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
they have the swann 2 packs still available, i didn't see the lorex cameras last time, i'm not sure if costco would list the same camera from 2 oems at the same time? -

honestly the nvr pq was only ok i did not spend too much time with it htough. , it looks a lot better on my own nvr as well, i bought them because it was still cheaper this way then buying separate cameras, with a better return policy and all. -

switch to another port on the poe switch, you either have a bad switch port, or a bad camera -
Inside the Swawn Vairfocal Dome from costco

i was considering a few of those domes, mainly for the 2.8mm lens, their bullets have 4mm lenses. i needed a few 2.8, realized the lorex domes i have with 4mm wont work as well. -

Yes bullets, domes, same price at wrightwoodsurveillance.com. the domes are actually 25 bucks more. -
those cameras that watson18 is advertising actually look pretty good, might definitely buy one of those to check out.

one costco review was a doa, one was bad hdmi port, one had condensation inside cameras the other bad review seems like the person doesn't know how to use the unit, thinking that digital zoom can help identify faces or license plates. i would trust the fellow members on the forum over what costco.com members have to say. Can't say for sure if the Lorex reviews are all buffed up by lorex themselves. I can say that i have 2 of the kits, i have 8 of the lorex cameras installed in 1 location, not using the nvrs though, but i have throughly tested all ports, hdmi, software etc, and they all work great, no DOA, one nvr assembled 6/2013, other one 7/2013. I have my cameras installed for only a bit over 3 days now, but we've had some heavy rain fall here and there, and it was humid as heck at some point too, no condensation issues in my cameras. -

poe is automatic, if provides power only when its needed. you won't have a problem doing what you have plan. just make sure that the cameras are being connected to a poe switch, or poe injectors. -

Do you know if it is still images or motion detection clips? the cameras can record clips, they have a lot of settings for you to play with, i have the swann bullet with sd card installed, not using the sd card, but i've seen the options -
Synology Surveillance Station and Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I
rayt replied to mroek's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
honestly this was the first time i tried something like this, i learned some programming back then, and by back then i mean well over 10 years ago. it was very simple to do, and i am not 100% sure if it works better then PSIA, i know i get camera side motion detection, and it is running the hikvision api that synology officially supports, synology just needs to get around to adding these cameras in. It is not really a hack, just a fix to use the hikvision api programmed into the synology with a camera they have yet to add to their databases. -
Synology Surveillance Station and Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I

Following the guide in the synology forums for making logitech alert cameras work with surveillance station natively, i have been able to copy one of the other hikvision profiles to work with my hikvision cameras natively, i've had success with both cameras from the lorex bundle on sale now, and the swann full size bullet. takes a few mins to ssh into the config files and copy and paste a few lines of code and change it to match the name of the cameras you have. i've tested this for a few days now, they are all setup for camera side motion detection. i have 10 swann/lorex branded cameras working with camera side motion detection now. http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=56434 thats the synology thread on editing files i edited HIKVISION.conf below is the code i used, change insertcameramodel here to your own camera model [HIKVISION*insertcameramodel] api = hikvisionv2 channel_list = 1 default_channel = 1 resolutions_mjpeg = 320x240, 352x288, 704x576 resolutions_h264 = 320x240, 352x288, 704x576, 1280x720, 1600x1200, 1920x1080, 2048x1536 default_resolution_mjpeg = 704x576 default_resolution_h264 = 704x576 fps_mjpeg_[320x240,352x288,704x576] = 2,4,6,8,10,12,15,16,18,20,22,25,30 fps_h264_[320x240,352x288,704x576,1280x720,1600x1200,1920x1080,2048x1536] = 2,4,6,8,10,12,15,16,18,20,22,25,30 default_fps_mjpeg_[320x240,352x288,704x576] = 10 default_fps_h264_[320x240,352x288,704x576] = 10 default_fps_h264_[1280x720,1600x1200,1920x1080,2048x1536] = 6 default_image_quality = 5 mjpeg = rtsp h264 = rtsp motion = mjpeg,h264 motion_param = sensitivity activate_time = 65 default_username = admin default_password = 12345 enjoy it, i'm enjoying my cameras on surveillance station since about last week with this coding -
Lorex 8-channel NVR with 6 1080p cams @Costco for $999.99

main difference is the plastic sun shade, might seem like a downgrade to some, but i like the feature of separating the shade from the camera body, the larger bullets are all designed to have a separate sunshade, for heat control. the current lorex bundles also come with cameras that have a fully black front end, which i believe helps with stray IR. -

that is weird considering they are all hikvision oem products. Please indicate what exact products you compared, and what they were compared to. what kind of lighting conditions? if they were not under the same conditions, then your review is moot. i've had 6 swann mini bullets here that i ran for a while, and the lorex is the exact same image wise if i swapped them in. -

it is a good price, but it is hard to tell if something like this will come by again soon, chances are in a few months, you can get something newer for the same price. the domes are water proof just like the bullets, and should work fine outdoors. They are rated as outdoor domes. -

i was going to suggest the exact same thing, the 100% setting seems to work great on hikvision, really clears most images up. don't notice any penalties on my 6 cameras either. Great feature, should be turned on to 100% by default hah. -

got my 4 bullets installed outside hope they stay dry inside for more then the 24hrs some people mentioned getting liquid inside. These things definitely do not hold tight like the swanns do, i think the clamping mechanism got cheapened by lorex. -

i have a few geovision varifocal domes, they all have a similar led config, and when you compare them side to side with the mini domes/bullets, you will see that the varifocal models have brighter and stronger IR leds! -

green to keep the heat down ( no fans in the case asides from processor fan and psu fan), no idea why you would need a 7200 rpm hd for nvr duties, nice but not sure it is needed. -
Help..... before I throw my new Lorex 6 cam system away!
rayt replied to thmaxxer's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
give me a holler about those 2 varifocal bullets if you are considering selling them, i installed 2 and am pretty happy with them. Will do. I like them kinda, I have some spots where I could use them, just not sure as I think I'm more partial to the new domes however (which yes I know have their own issues) i'm pretty happy with the lorex domes, although i can imagine the swann varifocal doems to be nice. -

http://www.costco.com/Swann-1080p-HD-IP-Vari-Focal-Bullet-Camera.product.100070294.html should be the same as this http://www.ezcctv.com/product/DS-2CD2632F-IS-1150.htm so i had them apart to set focal length and focus, and realized theres 2 little motors in there by the focus/ focal length rings, firmware doesnt' give me options to move them. Will get some pictures tonight, but does anyone think that these motors can get me focus/focal length adjustments?

Costco Swann labeled Bullet Cam
rayt replied to rayt's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
already done, they all take the same firmware, the swann full size bullet, the lorex mini bullet and the lorex dome, they all take the same hikvision firmware yet the same surveillance station config won't work for all of them, trying to tinker with this a bit. -
Lorex 8-channel NVR with 6 1080p cams @Costco for $999.99

fyi lorex does not come with the other side of the weather tight seal, i got them on my swann full size bullets, but not with lorex. i'm guessing that lorex and swann would normally not send them out with the weather tight seals, since they are normally sold in kits with a 100ft of terminated ethernet cable.
