Sorry for the late reply guys, been trying to figure out the problem the past few days.
They are literally right next to each other, within 12 inches of each other.
Is it just the connection to the DVR that keeps dropping or does the entire Internet connection drop out?
When you reset the router, is it the WRT54GL, DSL Modem or both that's reset?
If you just reset the router, is the connection to the DVr reestablished? Do you need to reboot the DVR also?
Are you able to determine if it happens when multiple camera streams are being viewed remotely &/or if it happens when there are multiple remote connections?
Even at CIF, remotely viewing 16 cameras w/ 768kbps upload speed will most likely max out the upload bandwidth. Combine that with possible multiple simultaneous remote connections and that the DVR itself is very cheaply made it doesn't surprise me that there are issues.
The entire internet connection drops out.
Only the router (WRT54GL) is reset.
After resetting the router the connection to the DVR is reestablished momentarily until connection drops again (usually within 15-20mins).
So far I noticed this happens when there are 2 or more smartphone camera streams being viewed remotely and while there there are 1-2 people surfing the web.
I recommended the owner to upgrade to Comcast Business Starter (2Mbps upload) to see if that helps and if that's still not enough he'll have to upgrade to Premium which offers 5Mbps upload. The current AT&T DSL speed is 1.5Mbps/768Kbps.
I used to use AT&T (6.0Mbps/768Kbps) at home until my connection started dropping. In the beginning I thought it was my router but after a few router changes the same problem occurred. At first it was just me gaming and everything was fine then my parents and siblings started streaming videos online and then my connection would come to a crawl and eventually drop.
At this point I think my client is going through the same problem with the upload is being overloaded and causing the connection to stall/drop.
