SDHC card issues
wetteddy replied to wetteddy's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'm guess I have a compadibility problem. I am going to buy an old micro SD card and see what happens. I verified my SDHC card does not have write protection and I even went as far as downloading files from my working cam and placed them on the card. The cam doesnt see thoose files which leads me to believe, it doesnt like the newer SDHC cards. -

I will give the lower resolution idea a try. I know it is not a defective sd slot because (since I have 2 of these cams) I can use my older sdhc card and it will works and the problem follows the new card. My guess is there is some sort of compatibility issue. Although I have never heard of a compatibility issue between cards. The main reason I want to use the cams for motion dection is I have 4 analog cams and I am using Blue Iris for motion dection. With the addition of the 2 IP cams, the server running Blue Iris slows to a crawl. If I can get these ip cams to work independantly, my server and network will be much happier. -

OK, so I bought a Patriot 8 gig class 10 SDHC card and installed it with no problems. The cam recognized it until I formated it. After format it no longer see's it until a reboot. After a reboot, it see's the card but it wont record motion to it. Any suggestions? -

It's good cam. Unfortunately, Rainbow has gone out of business. The dome security cam that I have does not have any IR lights. However, with a 60 watt fluorescent light (see attachment) it does very well. User interface is easy to navagate. My only complaint would be that it will not send video files to a ftp server. It will send frame by frame pictures of the movement, but who wants to look through 300 pictures for a 10 second clip. Anyways, logining into the cam to look at the video files isnt that big of a deal. One other issuse I have noticed with this cam and maybe it happens on alot of other IP cams, is false postive alerts for motion. I have notice that when the video change from b/w to color, it records video as if there was motion. I have not tried it yet but I was thinking of shutting the color off and let it run in B/W mode all the time. -
Cat 5e - Shielded?
wetteddy replied to JackOfAllTrades's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
I use belden shielded cat 5 or cat 5e cable, depending on the distance. Cut your own cable lengths and forget about the cheap china made stuff. You will be happier in the long run. -
alot of interference when I setup my dvr
wetteddy replied to dechowireless's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
It depends on the interference. Since you have multiple things plugged into the the same curcuit, I'm going to assume you have hum bars. This is typicaly caused by ground differences. Start unplugging devices until the issue goes away. Then once you have found the devide with the issue, troubleshoot that device. It may be as simple as a 3 prong plug with the ground cutoff or a polarized plug, plugged in the wrong way. Good luck -
1500' is a long run. Not to mention I have never seen it sold in longer lengths than 1000' box or reel. I like belden cable; CAT-5 is rated to 100M CAT-5e is rated to 350M CAT-6 and CAT6e is rated to 550M or 1000M depending on your source Good luck!

Hi, I have 2 Rainbow Model IPV1V3 IP cams. I wanted to use the motion dection feature so I put an older (about 1 yr old) PNY micro 4 gig SDHC class 4 card in one of the units and everything worked fine. I then purchased another SDHC card(Samsung 16 gig class 4) and the camera will lock up on reboot. If I swap cards, the problem follows the new card. I thought I must have a bad card, so I exchanged it for a Sony 16 gig SDHC class 4 card. The camera recongised the card and would allow me to format it, but it will not save files to card. Thinking that the camera could not support the larger size card, I then bought another PNY 4 gig class 4 card and it locks up the cam on reboot aswell. Should I be using a class 2 or Class 6 sdhc card instead? Has anyone else experience this type of issue? Thanks
