Black and white (really low light) camera recommendation
CSCOUT2001 posted a topic in Security Cameras
I have read in many post that Black and white cameras are used by many in low light bar situations, I am trying to cover the back area of a comedy club.... very low light and 15 to 20 ft away. There is light from the stage but not enough to light up the back of the audience. We have tried: Ganz day night (not working in this scenario) usually does a good job though Samsung Low light WDR camera (works but it to grainy and has that ghostly affect. Very good if nothing is going on, but as soon as you walk through the picture, you can see that it is a human but no face recognition. Looking for a good black and white camera and brand, would consider an IR camera if needed. Thanks Still following up on the other post I asked about, Will give details soon Any suggestions -
Black and white (really low light) camera recommendation

Conclusion We went back to the site with an IR Illuminator and a black and white 600 TVL box camera and lens. Before we pulled down the Samsung box camera, we went into playback to watch the video. In a working environment, with people at the show, the Samsung was holding its own, yet still had a ghostly appearance. We put up the new IR Illuminator and the B/W camera and this really did the trick. Actually we could see a whole lot more than what we actually needed to see. We narrowed the view down to the area in question and everything seems to be OK. Thanks to all who replied! Good information to absorb from everyone, learned about and looked at different cameras and noted purposes. Thanks -

It is the CBC america (GANZ) 2.8 - 12 mm lens. Computar 2.8-12mm Auto Iris Varifocal Lens (TG4Z2813FCS) would you recommend a different lens? I will look into the camera line up you mentioned. Thanks -

Price range is 200.00 to 250.00. The Ganz was the YCH-03A with a 2.8 - 12 mm lens... usually does an excellent job but just not enough light this time around. Hope this helps Thanks -

The area is pretty dark, I would not say it is completely dark but you are feeling your way through the chairs to sit down. It is a comedy club and in the back rows. It is roughly 15 to 20 feet from where the original camera was installed, here is a question... has anyone had any luck with the EverFocus EQ 500 with Pole Vision? I am interested in the bullets with Exview but what are the manufactures that are being used and hold up. I keep looking at the Panasonics but prices are way up there... still looking -
A client wants to use a wide dynamic dome for a restaurant... We are waiting for the Pelco ISC90-cwv9 to come off back order, our other choices are the American Dynamics or the GE XXXX. Some individuals on this site do not like the GE model. I also have the Samsung available, but it always seems to have a haze in the picture.... I am probably doing something wrong, because I can not believe they would let the camera have the hazy picture and call it WDR. Some people said they just enhanced the BLC and called it a WDR. I find that hard to believe. I am open to suggestions... I do like the EverFocus EQ600 WDR box camera but that is not an option. Thanks and look forward to hearing what others have used and like

Another question when using the Panasonic, Samsung, Sanyo
CSCOUT2001 posted a topic in Security Cameras
I have another project to complete. Here is the layout 1) 285 ft long x 150 ft wide parking lot 2) building is in bottom left of parking lot 3) cameras are located on exterior of 2nd floor (which covers the first part of the parking lot) (so 50ft span x 142 ft out x 16ft of ground = roughly a __ mm lens)( I will determine the lens requirement when I get to a lens calculator) 4) I believe the span should be more like 20 ft x 142 x 16 and use two more cameras. Any suggestions? 5) Now the outer parking lot requires a little more thought. I still need to cover the area, yet with PTZ cameras. 6) Problem that customer has. Individuals are coming into parking lot in a Van, they pull into a parking spot and then break into cars on both sides. Then they leave. 7) Customer wants the plates if possible and a nice picture of the crooks. I like the feature on the Sanyo PTZ with tracking, has anyone used this and comments. Does the camera get confused if there is a lot of traffic in the parking lot? 9) I am open to other ideas, I have used the Samsung zoom camera in the past and it does a nice job but looking for a better solution Any help? Thanks -
Another question when using the Panasonic, Samsung, Sanyo
CSCOUT2001 replied to CSCOUT2001's topic in Security Cameras
If we use reference cameras and set them for motion, I can tell the PTZ to move to that spot and yes after a certain period of time, it will go back to its tour. We can also do what you say, alarm goes off and the PTZ will zoom in to the door with the alarm. I am after the PTZ that will track though, Dyna??? has one, I have seen it working, individual says it works but not that well. He had some programming issues at first. I do not think he ever bought another one. Keep the info coming, my bucket is not full yet! -

WDR Domes (which one would you choose.)
CSCOUT2001 replied to CSCOUT2001's topic in Security Cameras
Wouldn't that be a large dome? Can you give me some direction to look into and find this dome. Thanks -

This information is exactly what I am after. I will take your recommendations and dig a little deeper for the specs, pricing etc. I have had good luck with the Everfocus EQ 600, not much luck with the Samsung WD, and not much luck with the Intellipix from Intellicam, however they are using the Pixum chip and it did a decent job but died in the field during a trial run. thanks! Does anyone else want to add any information, agree, ect. When it comes to this industry, I find myself trying to absorb as much information as possible, things change, and there is always a better camera for the job at hand... if you are interested, looking, and listening to others that are in the field -
Another question when using the Panasonic, Samsung, Sanyo
CSCOUT2001 replied to CSCOUT2001's topic in Security Cameras
The DVR will be getting ~ 12 - 15 frames per seconds per camera, it is our own. If interested I can pass along information at a later date. Our low end gets 4 frames per second per camera and our high end gets 22 - 25 frames per camera per second. 4 channell or 16 channell doesn't matter. I say fps / camera rather than 120fps like other companies because I think 120fps is misleading. Why? will it be 30 frames per second on one camera and then when you add the next camera.... does it drop to a lower frame rate? Usually DVRs do. It looks like I need to find out more about the Bosch PTZ cameras. We have used Ganz, Pelco, Accudome, and Samsung with good results. Usually we set up a tour or Cruise with the PTZ to zoom in around the license plate, circle around and back out to get the individual and the vehicle and then move onto the next pump or area of interest. But we are getting off the subject. I will take a look at the Bosch line up and then report back with which one I think will work out the best. Thanks for letting me know Sanyo does not have the PTZ. -
WDR Domes (which one would you choose.)
CSCOUT2001 replied to CSCOUT2001's topic in Security Cameras
First - WDR dome - VDC-C1574VA... This will work very well in the same environment.. not as good as Panasonic, but definite candidate. Second - WDR with Pan/Focus - VCC-P7574 - well, this model actually will be much better, as it provides the picture that is always in focus. A couple of questions on the the Sanyo. The VDC-c1574VA does not mention it is a Wide Dynamic camera. Are all the Sanyo cameras Wide Dynamic (please explain) The VCC-P7574 does not mention it is a Wide Dynamic camea either. I have seen the Pan Focus demo, which is very cool and I like the fact that you do not need the second person to focus the camera. Yes I have seen the the list of Pixum chip cameras, if you go to the Pixum website, you will see all the brands that use the chip. (domes and all others). I would like to know how the other mfr are calling their Wide Dynamic cameras WD and what is the technology. I have used and seen the Samsung camera and it just looks like a haze develops when trying to utilize the WDyn features while looking out a front door. Any feedback or knowledge you can pass onto me would be absorbed like a sponge. Looking forward to your responses. -

These camera will be looking directly at the front door monitoring the lobby and entrance. Direct light through the door and still be able to see the individuals. The EQ600 does a fantastic job, but he is after a dome. Thanks -
Where do you get that camera in the USA... dealers? I did a search and only came up with the company website

Looking for overall feedback on the Everfocus line of cameras and what you think of these 3 cameras... spec's look good but spec's are not always what counts. Anyone using or had good luck with them Thanks

PUZZLE for you all...Horizontal lines from power?
CSCOUT2001 posted a topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Here is the scenario: 1) Ganz 401 camera with 5 - 50 lens 2) cable run = 300 ft 3) Ties into a PC based DVR 4) problem follows the cable Camera(point A) to car wash building(point B) and the signal is ok Cable goes ijnto a plastic conduit that goes under concrete and then pops out inside the store.. signal is bad and many Horizontal lines in signal We have tried to ground almost everything, we are working on finding out what power source is under the concrete and causing the interferance... however is there a product to remove the noise??? Much like the noise suppression for you automobile and the stereo? Looking for any suggestions you may have. Not looking to dig up his concrete to find the problem. Thanks and waiting for a light bulb to go off -
Would like to hear about this line of cameras... any information would help out. Looking for a dome camera with vari focal lens for outside use. Thanks in advance

f1.3, f 1.0 f1.4... how do these factor into picking a lens
CSCOUT2001 posted a topic in Security Cameras
I am after knowledge and soaking up what I can Due to a previous question I had, I am curious as to how these numbers play into picking a lens. Can someone lead me to a sight so I can read about it or can you describe them here? thanks -
Is there another camera out there that will capture license plates... other than the Extreme. I can not get the convienent stores to bite on a camera that is that expensive. Thanks

I agree with the upgrade for the DVR and the 2 frames / second... we are working on that one. % wise = without question I am not zoomed in enough. If I had to put a % on it, I would say around 10%. However, since the exit / entrance is 30 ft wide and I am trying to catch them during the exit (15 ft wide). I have to cover as much area as I can. Since not all drivers exit at the same location. It seemed to be an easy problem to fix when we started. In a nutshell camera is 60 ft from entrance and is about 8 ft in the air exit is 15 + feet wide actual license plate on monitor is approx 10% (must catch many different routes of exit, otherwise I would zoom in on a specific area) DVR is ~2 fps DVR says it is at its highest resolution Just a thought.... don't know if there is camera out there, but I will ask anyway. It seems you could get a outdoor bullet / cyl camera close to the ground with a ___ lens on it and have a straight shot at the license plate (camera would be at the height level of the license plates) Any one done this in the past?
-
I am not sure of the "Make" of the DVR. We are fixing a problem that someone else left behind. Always more fun and frustrating than they are worth, but it is a client we want to keep happy. I am going to agree that the DVR is not the best, the client would like to upgrade to our DVR but he is not in control of the money. He is asking for the cash as of Friday (Aug. 11) I found the 5-50 comment interesting. Would a 2.8 - 12 mm lens f stop be more advantages? What F-stop / lens / would be a better choice? It may be possible to move the pole closer, will have to pull it out of the ground, concrete and all. As to the size of the license plate on the monitor... not too much. As I said, you can see it live without any problems... if we zoom in closer we may / will miss the driveoff by 2 ft and catch the taillights instead. Murphy's law, actually that is exactly what happened while we were on site. We were lucky, because a police officer was on site at the same time and shot out after the knucklehead. Since the exit is fairly wide and not all people leave in the exact location, we had to guess / optimize the area that could catch MOST of the people leaving. Recording on a DVR, probably 2 fps and the resolution is set for high. (For what it is worth) Thanks for the replies, I am taking notes...

The camera is on a 8 ft pole. The exit lane is 60 feet away, the current camera is a ganz 401 with a Rainbow 5 -50 vari focal lens. Yes I know it should work but the customer has issues with the set up. If you are watching the DVR "live", you can read the license plate as they pass. When you go into playback the license plate and video is distorted and unreadable. I have not seen it at night, I would assume it is even worse. Looking for help... different camera??? Thanks for the help

I am considering the Intellicam camera line... any feedback would be appreciated. Outside dome cameras and the cylinder cameras. I am also interested in the PTZ. Thanks in advance
