  1. Good afternoon sirs and madams. After personally installing a meager 8-Cam system in my own yard following a theft of over $1000 in aluminum, a good friend of mine has as asked if I could do the same for them. While still relatively a new to the field, I've done quite a bit of research on the subject and figured I could put together a 16-cam system for much less than the $3600 they were quoted originally for just the equipment (which used lower quality filler cameras). Looking over recommendations from the forums and elsewhere, the system I've scrapped together so far is as follows: ----------------------------- DVR: Dahua 16 Channel Security DVR Real Time D1 Resolution - (+$200 for 2TB HD if I cannot find better online) *I was considering the PRO model, but cannot see anything that would really benefit them* PTZ Cameras: 2 x Dahua 23x 600 TVL Weatherproof PTZ Dome Camera Filler Cameras: 4 x Qvis P400-N35-V2G40-N 2.8-12mm Infrared Bullet Security Camera 600 TVL *For High-Traffic Areas* 10 x Mixture of $39.99 - $59.99 Bullets and Domes (there used to be a higher-quality $39.99 bullets two months ago that would have worked perfect, believe it had at least 450 TVL and a 1/3 sensor) *For Indoors & Low-Traffic Areas* Power Supply: 18 Port 12V DC Security Camera Power Supply Distribution Panel Box - 12 Amps Total Cabling/Misc.: 2 x 1000' Spool RG59 Siamese Cable *May not quite need that much, still waiting on what specific camera locations* 7 x Twist On BNC Male Connector For CCTV RG59 Cable - Lot of 5 -------------------------------------- Total comes out to $3001.73 on the low-end ($39.99 fillers) vs $3201.73 on the high ($59.99 fillers) -- excluding shipping, with the $200 2TB HDD preinstalled. I don't believe they (the scrap yard) would trade off on price for a less-than 30 fps @ D1 resolution DVR, but otherwise it's mostly monitoring their driveway, vehicles, outdoor scrap piles, and interior work area that they want to keep track of. I will update once I have an exact idea of how many cameras they want inside or out. Any and all feedback would be appreciated, especially when it comes to what to use for the filler cameras, better options, ect. I thank you for your time and the help I've received from the forum thus far, Beaver
