"them being twice the resolution"? the different model has the different resolution. first they must have the same resolution, otherwise there is no comparability.

i think u need to use the HF3 101 model , it has the WDR function , be more suitablefor the entrance.

Described above can only explain your technology is weak. i think becchett can login the websit: http://www.dahuasecurity.com/download_2_3.html and download the file of "1.16REC-Upgrade tool.rar" . u can upgrade through the tool . the name of "General......"need not modify.

If you do this and it still doesn't work, I suggest you try something that worked for me when i was having trouble updating my firmware. I was renaming the file update.bin but it already showed the file type as a .bin. So the NVR was not able to open it because it showed as update.bin.bin . The extra " .bin " was why i couldn't update .My VLC Media Player already detected it as a .bin file so I just named it " update " and the NVR was able to update. Hopefully this helps! one file only have a file type, a extra name. "update.bin.bin" that is common mistake. in addition, u can also upgrade through the IE config web site of the NVR. it need not modify the file name.

i see the website of the products , i doubt if the connect line is too longer ? now ,i do not think of the other reason.

first , u need to unzip it , find out a "General_NVR3xxx_Eng_P_V2 .610.0000.3.R.20130403.bin" file . then , u can upgrade through the u disk . when u move the file to the u disk , must modify the name of file for "update.bin". go on the next , the upgrade will be successful . second , about the motion detection , u need config the IP camera.

now , u only need to know the two sides . first if the NVR surpport onvif , second the ipc surpport onvif. the all devices surpport onvif , it will be oK ~

do you try to debug the menu of the IPC ? use the PC contect to the IPC , than open the IE web addr of the IPC , see if the video is normal.

2.2Ghz dual core , show 4*1080P the real stream, the cpu is not good , if u can use the core i7 , the 4*1080P show will be very fluent , the percentage of CPU will be very low .

find the recording software? maybe you can see the Genetec \milestone \Exacq \anxxsoft and so on . otherwise , u may choose the NVR , it is also convenient~

maybe first u can see the log of ipc , if it has the sign of reboot . if have , u need to check out the voltage or the others .if not have ,u need to check out the log of the NVR. if the sign of reboot is exist .

maybe you can see the axis or bosch or avigilon and so on ,which country are u in ?

i hear about dahua provides the software of PSS , and the WDR is not related with the license plates with the headlights on , the HLC is related with the bright light.

about the DVR , maybe u can choose the hikvision or the dahua, their products is better.

i think the 1280*720@720P HD resolution will be suit your need, and it is 16:9, 25fps@720P. the NVR3816 can support 8 ch.
